Texas Gov. Perry Assails Obama on Abortion at LA Stop

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Texas Gov. Rick Perry, who has been mentioned as a potential Republican presidential candidate, is accusing the Obama administration of transforming abortion into a U.S. export and breaking faith with the nation’s founding principles by supporting taxpayer-funded embryonic stem cell research.
Perry, a prominent conservative long at odds with President Barack Obama’s stand on reproductive rights and stem cell research, spoke Sunday to a mostly Hispanic crowd of about 5,000 at a Los Angeles anti-abortion rally.
Perry said the direction of stem cell research under the Obama administration was “turning the remains of unborn children into nothing more than raw material.”
The governor never mentioned the presidential election, but talk about his possible candidacy has increased since two of his former political advisers recently fled Newt Gingrich’s troubled campaign.

I agree with Gov. Perry on stem cells. I don’t think using unborn babies like is morally right. As ofr the President, I think he like to put on show for social-issue minded in the country where he claims he is wrestling with himself on abortion and guy rights but thinking over his actions it is clear to me that he has indeed decided where he stands on those issues.

Posted on June 12, 2011 at 10:39pmI agree. Obama simply does not value human life. If you look back on his actions, you will see over and over again his disdain for other people’s freedom to live their lives the way they want to. Actually this is a common trait among liberals/progressives. If you take God out of the equation, than it is easy to discount the God-given abilities of ev ery man.

Posted on June 12, 2011 at 7:36pmPerry is just another in the long line of politicians, left and right, who use public office for their self aggrandizement. He was just re-elected last year and, as far as I know, he did not give any indication during the campaign that he would leave office early to seek the presidency. Thus, the people of Texas who voted for him have every reason to believe that he would finish his term if re-elected. I hope he is just dipping his toe in the water to test the waters, so to speak, and plans on fulfilling his commitment to the people of Texas who vested their continued trust in him.
Yes, I know both Bush (43) and Clinton pulled this act out of their bag and, if Perry does run for the WH, he will not be the last politician to pull this on the electorate. I just think the public continues to be played by these men and they will continue to do this as long as they get away with it.

Posted on June 12, 2011 at 7:26pmOne possible problem is that he isn’t married. I myself am 50 and still not married, and my favorite author C.S Lewis din’t marry until he was 57, but it’s easy these days to create suspicions about people who remain single.
But his politics are nothing like Crist’s, the ex-Governor of Florida, so there‘s no REASONABLE basis to be suspicious he isn’t what he seems. But, again, people can get suspicious without good reason if there’s any nagging uncertainty. I don‘t know whether it’s best for him to proactively address that or ignore it.

Posted on June 12, 2011 at 8:00pmYeah Christian conservative that never gives.
Gov. Rick Perry has never been shy about putting his faith on display, from speeches at prayer breakfasts, to his 2005 signing of abortion restrictions into law at a church school’s gym, to inviting the nation’s governors to a prayer meeting at Reliant Stadium that some are calling “Prayer-a-palooza.”
But when it comes time to giving, the governor doesn’t come close to the biblical guidance of tithing.
From 2000, when Perry became governor, through 2009, he earned a total of $2.68 million, according to his tax records. Of that amount, he gave half a percent to churches and religious organizations, or $14,243.
By comparison, Americans averaged gifts of nearly 1.5 percent of their income to churches and religious groups.
This suggests that at least in terms of financial giving, “biblical teachings don‘t seem to weigh very heavily on the governor’s action.”

The common rule was “viability” and the men who built this nation would be vilified by conservatives now.
Funny how conservatives time and time again claim to be staunch constitutionalists and fans of the founding fathers yet they never seem to actually KNOW the history of this nation.

Poor (light in the loafers?) Rick Perry.
He wanted Texas to secede from the United States of America; now he wants to be President? I’m afraid I cannot trust this man.
And who is he to tell women what to do with their bodies? He’s already signed a bill forcing pregnant Texas women to have an ultrasound and consultation with a doctor before having an abortion.
This is criminalizing a medical procedure which is legal in the United States.
I thought Republican’ts wanted less interference in the lives of citizens, not more.

Posted on June 12, 2011 at 7:18pmWe need either Sarah or Rick to explain to us why Paul Ryan and themselves support Ayn Rand who was pro-abortion and into free love – so we can forgive Anthony and move on with our patriotic opposition to the president.
We should leave the social topics alone if we want to beat a great father who has been married to the same woman forever.

Posted on June 12, 2011 at 7:24pmCaptainkook, A couple of questions for you? When the live embryo‘s are sucked out of a woman’s womb and deposited into the “shop vac” type canister where do the remains of these dead embryo’s end up? Have you ever really thought about what happens during an abortion. Have you ever thought about whether or not the suction pressure is strong enough to literally pull the live embroyo/fetus apart or does the live embryo/fetus drowed bobbing around it’s own blood and placenta, and most likely, the blood and placenta of other aborted live embryos/ fetuses. How often do you think they “clean” that shop vac of horrors? And do they separate the dead babies, placentas, and blood to sell off to research labs and cosmetic firms? Just asking…..

Politically he is fiscally conservative, anti gay rights, pro life, pro captial punishment, in favor of teaching creation in schools, and believes that Jesus is the way to heaven. If he runs, I can vote for him with a clear concience.
Ever notice that the majority of liberal politicians come from academia? They generally never got out and busted their hump in business, or produced anything. This sit in their egg head schools, and try to figure out wasy to soak people who do produce. Kind of like Marx. He was so lazy, he let his own kid starve to death, so he could sit around coffee shops, and think of ways to steal from the rich. One exception for liberals, is some did serve as lawyers (Clintons). Go figue. On the military side, many of the libs that did serve, did it under the protection of Daddy. Ever want to study a real hoax? Check out how LBJ earned the Silver Star. Defend your remarks, kooky. Why is this moronic?
Because there are no such “founding principles” involved in the stupid opposition to stem-cell research.
Because abortion is not an export product – it is a basic human right to terminate an unwanted pregnancy and the US didn’t invent it or “export” it.
It is MORONIC in content.
Got it?

Posted on June 13, 2011 at 6:37amThis is a great illustration of how liberals “think” in slogans. Other examples are:
“Bush lied, people died!”
“No Blood for Oil!”
“Save the planet!”
“How many kids did you kill today?!” (directed at LBJ’s Vietnam War)
“Imagine peace!”
“No tax cuts for the rich!”
“Meat is murder!”
“You can’t hug children with nuclear arms!”
“Support the troops, bring them home!”
“Celebrate diversity!”
“We are the change we’ve been waiting for!”
Get Ann Coulter’s new book, “Demonic.” It really nails these fools to the wall — they’re dangerous, and always have been.

Posted on June 14, 2011 at 2:46am@Captainkook; You should have used the tag ‘Evilkook’, because your asertion that abortion is a right is nothing less than evil. Onthat ship, you are no captain, just a deckhand and a poor one at that.
Of course a person can choose to abort a child, as any person can choose to kill another, that does not make it a right, it makes it a choice, and one that comes with dire consequences.
Abortion ends human life, any biologist will tell you that, and biololgy is the applicable science here. I pray that so many who have bought into the falacy that abortion is not evil somehow see the light, it is the greatest defining issue between good and evil of our time. Either you respect life other than your own or you do not, it doesnt get any clearer than this.
