Texas Radio Talker Wants A Schumer Apology, Threatens New York Boycott

Houston, Texas is home to thousands of people who have worked for NASA and have been a vital part of the fifty-three year history of the American Space program. But the Johnson Space Center in suburban Houston will not be receiving one of the four retiring space shuttles for it’s substantial collection of space memorabilia.

That news did not make the people of Houston very happy.  One Texas politician says this fight is not over and is talking about legislation to change where the coveted space shuttles will be sent.

Rubbing salt into this wound was NY Senator Chuck Schumer, who decided to gloat about his state’s win. The Senator could not resist insulting Texans;

And now Texas has responded.

Houston radio host Michael Berry would like an apology from Senator Schumer. Berry’s on-air statement;

‘Politics, not merit, was behind the decision to give the shuttle orbiter to New York — rather than its rightful home in Houston.  For Senator Schumer to insult Houston and, in the process, dismiss the service of tens of thousands of hard-working Americans to our space program over the last 50 years is an outrage.  If the man had any decency, he would apologize.’

That apology is probably not happening, so Mr. Berry is encouraging his audience to send a message to Senator Schumer by boycotting New York.

      HI has more of a claim to a Shuttle than NY. They house radar stations that the space program uses. NY does have a couple of the big boys but they mainly produced components for the Shuttle program.

    Kind of reminds me of the movie Casino where the gaming commission agent pays a visit to Sam Rothstein who earlier fired his nephew and is trying to get his job back. When Rothtstein refuses the favor the agent leaves quietly but later causes Rothstein to lose his gaming license. The moral is don’t mess with guys in cowboy hats.

    Please do we need all the help we can get here. We just can’t get rid of there people. They are being supported by College students from all around the country. We uncovered actual corruption by my Congressman and the papers, Dick Morris, Rush, Hot Air, Red State and a few others reported on it. He actually attacked a reporter for asking him about it. Just do a search about Hinchey attacking a reporter. This guy is diverting Federal funds towards projects either he or his business partners are involved in. While your at it boycott the Colleges too. Please.

      Exactly, this is the reason I would never go to N.Y. Pizzed off my girlfriends when I refused to take a trip to N.Y. with them on vacation couple of years ago. I’m sure there are many wonderful people there, and I don’t mean you, it’s the others I take exception to. Just used to the western type of kindness.

The man who single handedly along with his pals Barney and Chris gave us the affordable housing financial fiasco, the TARP, Obamacare with his pals Nancy and Harry. Chuck, who thinks the tea party is a bunch of extremists but who has yet to find words to describe his buddies heckling a 14 year old in WI. I am willing to bet they used their majority in the House/Senate to repay their donors by awarding those cities the retired shuttles. This is one more example why not to re-elect the Dems. blaze4

    I cannot stand that socialist whimp, him and Anthony Weiner are two politicians that really make New York look really bad, and New Yorker’s need to wake up and retire those to jokers. No body gets under my skin as bad as those two.

    Houston really got screwed in this deal, and you know a lot of it has to do with how Texas votes in the Presidential elections. If Obama were not President one of the shuttles would be going to Houston.

    New York while it is a much more prominent city still it had nothing to do with the space shuttle program and Shumer’s logic makes about as much sense as a proposal to relocate the Alamo there because more people would see that too.

    I’m from NY and this POS is an embarrassment. This New Yorker apologizes to Houston. I don’t remember ever hearing a radio transmission from space stating, “we have a problem New York”

    I believe it is “ We have a Problem Houston”

    And for that reason alone, the Shuttle should be in Houston!

      I wasn’t born in Texas, but I got here as soon as I could! I have lived in Texas since 1981 and cannot imagine living anywhere else. The slap in the face to our “country” is audible, and I for one will not take it lightly. Chuck-you is a moron, so we should remember that. What I don’t understand is why anyone actually considered the shuttle to be in New York in the first place! And, what Chuck-you said about Houston being an unpleasant place to visit is deplorable for an American. I lived in Houston when I was younger, and loved it. It is a wonderful city, especially around NASA, Now I am a rural girl, but my husband and I are looking at some options to move near Houston (but still being rural). Sorry to digress…Houston is the birthplace of NASA, and should be regarded with respect for it’s contribution to history! Washington is such a den of wolves, with Chuck-you being one of it’s nasty alpha males (ick), He should be delivered to whatever country abroad and never be allowed to touch the soil of the United States again. Same for Barry, as well. Hope he gets along with the foreign countries he has “embraced”, who laugh at him behind his back.

    As a tax payer, I found it odd when the announcements were made that NYC got a shuttle and not Houston. Houston should have received a shuttle, Florida, and then the Smithsonian. NYC should not have a space shuttle. Politics should have had nothing to do with this, but it is the government and politics has something to do with everything.

      NO! A slime ball politician named Chuck E Sleeze (OOOOPS! I meant Schumer) exerted undue political pressure on NASA. He more than likely (Behind the scenes) threatened to veto any and all funding for space research and cut NASA‘s budget if they didn’t award the shuttle to NYC. Does he chair or is he on any committe which controls NASA’s funding?

      I will personally BOYCOTT the exhibit of the Shuttle in NYC. I will visit the Smithsonian, Cape Kennedy or anywhere else they display one, but New York – - – - NEVER!!!! The shuttle belongs in Houston. The employees who worked for NASA in Houston and worked through the horrible deaths of astronauts in the 2 shuttle tradgies and who endured the constant stress of advising crews of remedies for problems encountered in flight deserve to be honored with a lasting memorial (A shuttle) for their dedicated service.

      Houston, we have a problem! It is a crooked politician from NY. Unfortunately, there is no ready fix for it.

      As a tax payer, more of New York’s taxes go to Texas, then NY receives. Look at the facts the federal government spends more than it recieves in taxes. while the reverse is true for NY. So the way I see it, the welfare queen, free loader Texas owes New York and the shuttle is a down payment.

      Sadly, being from NY, Upchuck Schumer is my senator…this probably was politics, but don’t forget, NY has been very involved in the Space program. Not as much as Houston in recent years, but the Aerospace industries have always been very prevelant here for.

      That being said, if NY was a consrvative state (from my post to Gods ears) there is no way it would have been awarded to us.

      They’re both proof that 50% of the people all over the country are pretty much clueless and will vote for a Schumer or SJLee. That’s what needs to change. Annnnndddd don’t allow people that are on public assistance (I.e., the Gov’t teet) to vote AND/OR get rid of the IRS/current tax structure and introduce a flat tax or fair tax so that everybody has some skin in the game… that would help fix some of this mess.

      I also have issues with that statement. We work as hard as we can to defeat the gruesome twosome, him, jingle bells and Mr. “I’m not a crook” Hinchey. So everybody, did anyone else take it upon themselves to do property searches and research their hired help s business partners. I did, and it’s deep. So instead of saying we deserve him ask yourself what did I do to help chip away at the players at the top. We need all the help we can get, please. Boycott, call your elected officials and ask why the idiot Congressman from NY is not being investigated for funneling YOUR tax dollars into his and his friends pockets. We have NO ONE to call. We are between a rock and a commie place. Should I get into the Land Leases that are being gobbled up by the radical green movement to further control everyone in their actions and freedoms. Look into that in your own area you might be surprised how prevalent that is country wide.

      Indeed this was a direct slap and insult to TX, somehow I feel the administration was involved just to stir up one more bit of trouble and keep the kettle brewing and bubbling with more heat and more closer to the boiling point.

      Something soon is going to give. I only hope it is for the better.

      This is just the continuation of the ongoing fight between this administration and the great state of Texas! Don’t you guys remember the story about the border mayor (can’t remember the name of the Texas border town)…Napolitano was picking up illegals off the state of California and dropping them just outside a Texas border town knowing full well that they would make their way into that little town…at the rate the illegals were infiltrating the town, the mayor expected that the town finances were going to be depleted within less than a year (or something pretty horrific)..this action was done to get into the face of Governor Perry…his being too outspoken about Obama and the corruption!

      I am not a Texan but by God I feel as angry as a Texan right now. Texas has been the home of Mission Control through the decades and deserves to have one of the Shuttle Orbiters on display. NY has no merit in the matter whatsoever. Chuck Schemer is being a political hog – and a nasty one at that. I pray that Texans will find a way to stop this travesty. There is not even a trace of logic in Schemer’s argument …. by his lights Disney land and Disney World and MGM Studios (the park) and the Grand Canyon and Mount Rushmore and so on should ALL be in NYC since that is where the majority of the tourists allegedly PRESENTLY go? I will stop writing now …. I fell a gush of four letter words coming on and I would rather not express these.

      Mega dittos for all who believe that this was the ultimate snub to Texas. The “great divider” really did a great job on this one. Im sure youll win Texas come 2012. Hell im willing to bet that Obama wont even step foot in the state for the rest of his presidency.

      I got nothin’ against Texas getting the Shuttle, and I agree that NY getting one was a purely political decision… but to my ears, it rings a little hollow that Houstonians want to accuse NY of playing politics to get the shuttle… as if politics didn’t have anything to do with LBJ locating the Johnson space center in Houston in the first place… I‘m just sayin’…

      Maybe if the Regressive Democrats had something real or useful to offer besides political favors…

      No problem for me. I boycotted New York years ago when I was a USO Jr. Hostess with the Hollywood USO. Of all the military men who came through there and the ones we met on the military bases we visited, so we could dance with the boys, it was the New York types I wanted no part of because of the caustic, sharp attitude. Was not for me! I loved dancing with the ones from the South and Western states. I found them to be courteous, polite and a pleasure to be around. I’ve been all over the USA but Washington D.C. was as far North as I’d go. Just saying………that’s how I remember those days, and from the Schumer & Weiner types, it hasn’t changed. Thank God for Texas and the West.

      And what he is asking for is an apology from Chuck for being a sore winner; you got a problem with that? You sound like a quitter… if boycotts don’t work why is one of the highest rated shows on cable quitting?
      Michael Berry is fun and intelligent and most likely has more guts than you have.
      If you don’t know who Berry is you can find his show on the Internet. Any conservative who would put him down does not listen to him.
