DALLAS (AP) — A sheriff says a fast-moving wildfire has engulfed a home in East Texas, killing a 20-year-old woman and her 18-month-old daughter who were trapped inside.
Gregg County Sheriff Maxey Cerliano says the fire destroyed the home Sunday between Lincoln City and Gladewater, more than 100 miles east of Dallas. None of the victims were immediately identified.
Celiano tells the Tyler Morning Telegraph (http://bit.ly/njjkI9) that a male who was inside the house was burned but was able to escape.
Authorities say high winds caused by Tropical Storm Lee are partly to blame for the wildfires that continued to ravage parts of East and Central Texas Sunday. Among the areas hardest hit was Bastrop County just southeast of Austin, where more than 6,000 acres were scorched.

Posted on September 7, 2011 at 11:00amAt least one of the fires is starting to look like arson, one was started by an arching overhead electrical line/transformer, most are still being investigated.

we give up our 2nd amendment rights. We don’t want his health care nor his state welfare – go bail out California and Gov Moonbeam. Maxine and Nancy (the Queen of Botox) will support him.

Posted on September 6, 2011 at 11:34pmI believe Eucalyptus is like that as well. It has a flammable sap. When little sparks or pieces of its burning bark gets carried in the wind and lands somewhere else, the sparks or burning pieces ignite a new fire.

Report Post »I know Texas is known for these prairie fires and drought, but hasn’t the Army Corpse of Engineers ever considered irrigation canals from either the gulf or Missouri River, or some such water source? For sure this administration wouldn’t consider any such thing, but they used to say about America, “If you can dream it, you can build it!” At one time it worked in California before their little minnow got the environmentalists all stirred up.
