Posted on December 27, 2010 at 12:31pmThis doesn’t mean that there is any “resurgence” of Christianity in Thailand. This is simply Thais being Thais.
Thais will embrace anything if it means a party!
For instance, they celebrate the western New Year on Dec 31 – Jan 1; the Chinese Lunar New Year and Songkrawn the ancient New Year.
Thais love to celebrate and are not choosy about what it is they’re celebrating.
Japanese too have decorations at Christmas, many a Santa Clause and give each other elaborately wrapped presents at Christmas. But that doesn‘t mean they’re Christians either.

Posted on December 24, 2010 at 6:32pmThais are 98% Buddhist and their love of celebrating Christmas has nothing to do with embracing Christianity. They enjoy and celebrate Santa Claus, bright lights, funny costumes, getting gifts, shiny wrapping paper, the opportunity to party on another holiday and sing JIngle Bells – and that’s it. God (and Buddha) bless ‘em!

Posted on December 26, 2010 at 4:02amThey tried dressing up the Cobras first, but that didn’t work out well as they were to mean. Then they tried Donkeys, but they were too dumb. Then they went with the Elephants, and all was well.
A little Christmas humor.
