Thankful to God That I Was Passing By: Rep. Emanuel Cleaver Aids Ailing Woman

Rep. Emanuel Cleaver (D-Mo.) came to the aid of an ailing woman while on his way to a meeting Friday, the Kansas City Star reported.

Cleaver, the chair of the Congressional Black Caucus, was riding in a car in Kansas City when he saw someone waving a hand from a patch of weeds on the other side of the road.

Cleaver’s spokeswoman said the congressman told the staff member behind the wheel to stop the car and they both ran across the road to investigate. It turned out to be a middle-aged woman who was foaming at the mouth and going in and out of consciousness. Cleaver pulled off his jacket to cover the woman and called 911.

“She was foaming and then all of a sudden she went quiet,” Cleaver told Kansas City NBC affiliate KSHB. “I said to the call taker at 911, I said you guys have to hurry, ’cause I don‘t know if she’s going to survive.”

Cleaver said the woman uttered just a few words before falling unconscious: “Help me, please.” They stayed with her until emergency crews arrived.

He told local ABC affiliate KMBC-TV that due to privacy laws he has not been able to find out how the woman is doing.

“I’m just thankful to God that I was passing by,” Cleaver told Kansas City NBC affiliate KSHB. “I can‘t think that I did something that anybody else wouldn’t do, I think anybody driving by would have done it.”

He must feel real good. Now he can forget about his support of abortion that kills over a million babies per year. Typical Dem.

You are still a lying, cheating, *****. Way to grab some publicity out of it. Typical politician. The average person would have left the scene after help arrived and not made a friggin press release. Perhaps you only imagined what she said to you…because you sure imagined a Tea Party protester said something they never said…and we have the video to prove that. Go back to being nazi pelosi’s lap dog.

Glad he was there to help the women. It sounds as if she was having a seizure or possibly low sugar due to diabetes; generally you lose consciousness. Those can be really dangerous if she doesn’t get medical help quickly.

Anyone who feels the need to post something disparaging; let me tell you now – knock it off. Don’t be so hateful and uncaring.

While Cleaver has done a lot of bad things in his life he knows better and this proves it. I hope this has an inspiring effect on him and helps shape his future. It is a great thing he did.

yeah, I have to agree with you here. Too bad that doing an act of “right” had be talked about with conceit. schmuck

(OR maybe he was really thinking that only the govt or someone IN the govt who really believes all good things come from the government is capable of knowing what to do?)

The mind can play tricks. That Guam remark was so “clever” it may have become associated with “Cleaver”. Don’t agree with your politics, but kudos on the save, Congressman.
