10 Best Paul Ryan Lines From His Convention Speech

Paul Ryan’s speech brought more than just cheers to the convention hall Wednesday night, it picked a fight.

The VP candidate’s speech had RNC delegates at a fever pitch from the beginning. It brought a packed convention arena to its feet with over a dozen standing ovations.  By many reports and reactions, Paul Ryan can count his keynote a resounding success.

And while the speech was filled with conservative buzzwords, what really hat had the faithful cheering were the well timed one-liners about President Obama and his record.

Convention delegate and lifelong Republican Mark Mitchell told TheBlaze, “That speech is what we were waiting for!”  Mitchell continued enthusiastically, “We want a candidate that can expose and fight our administration and their B.S.  Ryan came out fighting, we like that!”

Here are the loudest most well-received Ryan zingers according to the non-scientific Blaze method of sitting in the convention hall with an ancient decibel meter (our ears).

10.

“Their moment came and went. Fear and division are all they’ve got left. With all their attack ads, the president is just throwing away money— and he’s pretty experienced at that.”

9.

“President Barack Obama came to office during an economic crisis, as he has reminded us a time or two.”

8.

“It all started off with stirring speeches, Greek columns, the thrill of something new. Now all that’s left is a presidency adrift, surviving on slogans that already seem tired, grasping at a moment that has already passed, like a ship trying to sail on yesterday’s wind.”

7.

“The man assumed office almost four years ago— isn’t it about time he assumed responsibility?”

6.

”None of us have to settle for the best this administration offers— a dull, adventureless journey from one entitlement to the next, a government-planned life, a country where everything is free but us.”

5.

“By the way, being successful in business— that’s a good thing.”

4.

“[Mitt] turned around the Olympics at a time when a great institution was collapsing under the weight of bad management, overspending, and corruption— sounds familiar, doesn’t it?

3.

“[Our rights] are self-evident and unchanging, and sometimes even presidents need reminding that our rights come from nature and God, not from government”

2.

“College graduates should not have to live out their 20s in their childhood bedrooms, staring up at fading Obama posters and wondering when they can move out and get going with life.”

1. (Was actually not even about Obama)

“We’re a full generation apart, Governor Romney and I. And, in some ways, we’re a little different. There are the songs on his iPod, which I’ve heard on the campaign bus and on many hotel elevators. He actually urged me to play some of these songs at campaign rallies. I said, I hope it’s not a deal-breaker Mitt, but my playlist starts with AC/DC, and ends with Zeppelin.”

Our Friend at SUN News in Canada have generously put together a clip of Ryan’s best zingers, and you can watch it below!

Ryan’s speech was really very good. He did exactly what he needed to do – which is underscore Obama’s dismal record. He was respectful and fair, I thought. He even touched on the fact that Bush (without naming him) made similar mistakes in spending too much money we didn’t have.

However, I would like to see Romney-Ryan challenge the President for his Marxist Communist background, upbringing, and tendencies. I think it’s evident that Obama is a Marxist in his thinking, and an has carried his anti-colonial, anti-american dreams he got from his father into the way he conducts the affairs of this country. His actions, while confusing and seemingly negligent to the uninitiated, follow perfectly the communist agenda. They are the actions recommended for many years by communists to bring down this country from within. They are following the Alinsky / Frances Piven playbook for collapsing the country and fundamentally transforming it into a Marxist open society.

I disagree. They are focusing on what they need to focus on. The Republicans and Conservatives are already going to vote Romney/Ryan. They need to sway the middle. That is not done by highlighting what is perceived as an extreme view, Obama is a Marxist/Communist, even when that view is completely true… which it is. They are on the right path and I am pumped for November.

GUP20: I agree with most everything you wrote, including the fact that Obama is in his heart a communist, and that he (like his father) is an anti-colonialist who despises this country.

But it would be a mistake to run on this fact, because the independents, and many busy, busy Republicans are unaware of this. It would make Romney look like he was lying/exaggerating and would lose him votes in the long run.

If, however, Obama is re-elected (God help us all) then THAT will be the time to raise hell and scream it from the mountaintops. Because at that point, we would have nothing to lose but our freedoms and our lives.

      I KNEW You’d Say That!

      “ZINGERS” aren’t the TRUTH!

“I’m very concerned about this election, as are you. I said the other day, actually it was several weeks ago when Ann Coulter wrote her piece defending RomneyCare, I said, there it is. It‘s not enough that we should support him if he’s the nominee. We have to sell out our principles. We have to split hairs over RomneyCare and ObamaCare, make Federalism arguments, and this, that, and the other. I’m not doing that. I’m not surrendering my principles to support a modern Republican for President. I‘ll support him if he’s the nominee. But I can’t defend RomneyCare. Oh, that’s only a statement. So what! I mean I‘ve got audio here up the wazoo where he’s defending the individual mandate and actually encouraging the people who are putting together ObamaCare to consider it.”

“But the reason this ObamaCare is so crucial and I’ve talked about from day one, the reason we’re litigating at Landmark Legal Foundation, the reason why you cannot simply ignore RomneyCare and the almost back-of-the-hand response that Romney gives you, is what you’re seeing unfold before your eyes — the use of ObamaCare to gut the 1st Amendment, to gut private property rights, to gut Commerce Clause. And soon it’ll be the 14th Amendment and the 5th Amendment.”

I agree with your comments. Both parties are responsible for the poor spending policies; BUT only ONE is responsible for electing a communist determined to take this country down! Growing up in Pittsburgh in the 70‘s and 80’s, I was around a lot of union workers that had American Flags on their hats and hated communism. THEY ARE THE COMMUNISTS! Many of these people were family and friends that I love. Their personal insecurities, pride and ignorance will not allow them to see what is really going on. Their minds are closed and they are the most negative people you would want to be around. What will it take for them to open their eyes???????? I hope they do at some point because they’re not helping themselves or others.

The ones about how the RNC committee can call a meeting and change whatever rules it doesn‘t like as well as allow candidates to eject other candidates’ state delegates he/she doesn’t like? Some say the changes were aimed at Ron Paul supporters but it’s deeper than that. This change affects future Tea Party candidates too because the RNC RINO’s are afraid of the new people coming in. People who actually stand for traditional America. Makes me feel like I’m living in a Banana Republic where the candidates are chosen for you, the people and even the election itself is won by whome the establishment wants to win.

I have a hard time buying into their speeches. I actually haven‘t watch a single minute of the convention or speech that wasn’t a clip posted on a website, but what they say always sounds good. It‘s just they never follow through with it or it’s just another politician spreading their lies. I know several have been debunked, but the one not mentioned is the one that bugs me the most as it should all Americans.

“[Our rights] are self-evident and unchanging, and sometimes even presidents need reminding that our rights come from nature and God, not from government”

The chosen candidates have either voted for or supported the destruction of these rights that are self-evident and unchanging. How can Ryan, with a straight face, says something like this when he has voted in favor of removing these rights from our Constitution? This is the kind of thing that makes it so I won’t even listen to what they have to say. It just makes me sick that this is the best that America has to offer. Anyone that doesn’t recognize this statement as a lie is kidding themselves. You can argue they are better than Obama, but don‘t go blowing smoke up peoples’ asses in saying they are good for America or anything.

He even dishonestly attacked Barack Obama for the closing of a GM plant in his hometown of Janesville, Wisconsin — a plant that closed in December 2008 under George W. Bush. He also failed to offer one constructive idea about what he would do to move the country forward.
He also didn’t mention that the Romney-Ryan plan would turn Medicare into a voucher program to pay for tax cuts for millionaires, or that their promise to repeal Obamacare would take away access to health care for 32 million Americans. Great speech according to the idle-minded, but nevertheless it was just platitudes not addressing the foundation of problems which prop-up the table of symptoms which Paul Ryan addressed. Problems like parents not wanting to be parents out of fear; children treating the parents as if they are the children; children who don’t want to leave home (not just that they can not leave home), etc, etc.

There is way, way more underlying serious problems with America than people want to acknowledge with their idle-minds. Problems with even the damage big government and unions did to the American family since FDR, and on to present. Case in point the promise of employment at companies for a term of military service by some very ignoramus individuals whom probably would have been exterminated by life had they not found protection by companies and unions. Then they went on to have 8, 10, 12 children who were also ignoramuses who didn’t drink any wine of intelligence from the family tree, and even many can not trace their ancestry back past 25 years. The core of America is very rotten.

I know many very devout & very cool Catholics & heavy metal is definitely #1 in re secular music. I even know some who’d like to create heavy metal versions of certain hymns – most notably those composed by Bach – & certain chants – think Dies Irae – he has much support. one of the biggest surprises of my life was when I attended a Christian rock concert w/ a close friend who is 5 feet (on a good day), very shy, sings classical music, is so devout she wears a mantilla at Mass & fasts from everything w/ any flavour during Lent. I’m a dancer – ballet, jazz, even a rare bit of hip hop – but that night, she turned into a jumping, head banging creature that scared the hell out of me. fortunately there was no mosh pit or she’d have been passed along & tossed about like spinach in a salad. among my friends, I also count several Polish Dominican priests who are very faithful to the magisterium, incredibly well educated & very holy. they also love heavy metal & ride motorcycles. ditto CFRs (Franciscan Friars of the Renewal) who just happen to grow ZZ Top type beards & play guitars, drums, etc. though it’s not true for me, heavy metal aficionados & devout Catholics are often the same people. go figure.

      (9) Yes, Bush left the PRESIDENT with the worst economy since the depression and a $1.2 trillion deficit run rate (fy 2008). (7) It took Reagan more than 4 years to fix, through federal spending, a recession that was 20% of the one Bush provided. (5) Yes it is but being a vulture capitalist is not, avoiding taxes with offshore accounts and IRA tricks and lying about them is not (4) Do some research about what really transpired at the Olympics and Romney’s large donor who was at the heart of the bribery scandal. (3) from God, not Christianity and what rights exactly have been challenged? (2) Yes that is what Bush and the Bankers have done to these graduates. And neither Romney nor Ryan have a real plan other than to cut school loans and have more of them work for minimum wage and claim that is job creation. (e.g. Perry in Texas)

      Poor myopic, desperate JROOK….
      9) The slowest recovery from a recession in the history of the nation. But let‘s add Obama’s words to this also….
“Today I am pledging to cut the deficit we inherited in half by the end of my first term in office.”-Barack Obama.
Tell me JROOK..how’s Obama looking on that pledge? Would you make a pledge like that if the economy was as bad as your post says it was? Barry did didn’t he sport? Did you believe him? If you didnt’..why did you vote for him? He was clearly lying..do you routinely vote for obvious liars?

      5) Tell the folks at Staples how much of a vulture Romney is. Tell the Winter Olympics what a vulture Romney is. Balancing the budget, lowering the unemployment rate in MA..tell that state what a vulture Romney is. Can Obama claim the same by the way? Obama has never earned a paycheck from the private sector..even as a lawyer he represented non-profits. Can you show me where Obama is on the way to balancing the budget and lowering unemployment JROOK? Can you? Any sign he’s on the way to do that champ? Unemployment under Obama has been consistently over 8% with no sign of abating. The underemployment rate under Obama is the highest since WWII. Don‘t tell me you want to continue with Obama’s handling of the economy do you? Really?

      Lies TROLLY?

      You mean like this?

“There was something stirring across the country because of what happened in Selma, Alabama, because some folks are willing to march across a bridge. So they got together (Barack Obama Sr and Stanley Anne Dunham- Obama’s parents) and Barack Obama Jr. was born. So don‘t tell me I don’t have a claim on Selma, Alabama. Don’t tell me I’m not coming home to Selma, Alabama.”- Barack Obama 2008 at a speech in Selma, Alabama.

“So they got together and Barack Obama Jr was born” TROLLY..hmmmm but…“Barack Obama Jr” was born in 1961 and the Selma rally he’s talking about happened in 1965 TROLLY. In fact…by the end of 1961..Obama‘s parents had split up they didn’t even know each other by 1965. Lies TROLLY? Don’t tell me you believed Barry did you champ?
      Let’s see lies huh?..hmmm.
“Today I am pledging to cut the deficit we inherited in half by the end of my first term in office.”-Barack Obama Jr.
Today the reality is Obama is on target to add $6trillion to the debt by the end of the his first term. Don’t tell me you believed “Barack Obama Jr” did you champ? Fool me once right TROLLY?

Come on TROLLY…you need better material than your sour grapes at what’s turning out to be a rousingly successful GOP convention with candidates that you can see will resonate with the American public. You’re scared I know…and your “bah humbug” posts prove it.

This came to light due to their puzzling answers to Obama related issues, as if they ignored the actual story and tried to disprove all the facts by focusing in on one tangential aspect of the account.
