‘The 99% Spring’ Launches by Training 100,000 Activists Between April 9-15

The “Occupy” movement and its associated “99%” are soon beginning the spring initiative they planned all winter.
“The 99% Spring,” a website dedicated to the endeavor, explains:
This Spring We Rise!
April 9-15 we will gather across America, 100,000 strong, in homes, places of worship, campuses and the streets to train ourselves in non-violent action and join together in the work of reclaiming our country. History is calling; it’s time to step up.

Inspired by Occupy Wall Street and the fight for workers in Madison, Wisconsin, the 99% will rise up this spring. In the span of just one week, from April 9-15, 100,000 people will be trained to tell the story of what happened to our economy, learn the history of non-violent direct action, and use that knowledge to take action on our own campaigns to win change.
Perhaps reacting to the reported crimes at the “Occupy” protests from the fall onwards, the pre-reading material for the event specifies:
In our actions, we will…
✦ bring humor;
✦ adopt a dignified, open and friendly attitude towards anybody we encounter;
✦ demonstrate our creativity in the use of new slogans, songs, and props;
✦ keep our calm, and our eyes on the prize.In our actions, we will not…
✦ bring weapons;
✦ use verbal or physical violence;
✦ damage property;
✦ use drugs or alcohol;
✦ hide our identity behind hoods or masks;
✦ risk arrest without the required training;
✦ run, as it contributes to heightening tensions for everybody.
It will be interesting to see what effect the 100,000 “trained” individuals have, and if they are indeed peaceful. After all, the so-called “grandmother” of the movement, Frances Fox Piven, once said it was acceptable to use violence if it was part of your grander strategy.

Our founders departed Europe due to political and religious oppression, not due to any form of altruistic notion. They did not believe that we are socialist and did not front any sort of notion – more to the point, they knew that government misuse of the efforts of the people would annihilate the country. There is even a saying attributed to a British lawyer and varied for American purposes: “The American Republic will endure until the day Congress discovers that it can bribe the public with the public’s money.”
You may believe what you will, but the Constitution was written to be minimalistic and non-interventionist in society. The governing body did not want to control every aspect of our actions. I do not want the government to control my actions.
I have the brainpower to think, act, and coordinate on my own, thank you very much. I give you leave to take your marching orders from the politicians, personally I want no part of that foul tribe.

Really wish I had stocked up on some more ammo when I could get it wholesale in Phoenix though. Of course I’m not so certain that the OWS morons will get overly radical in Phoenix. Too many people who attend the gun shows and buy ammo 10,000 rounds at a time. Machetes and Kukris are good. Really tick off the OWS crowd, Walmart has Fiskers brand Machetes for under $20. Cold Steel makes high quality kukris that are available at a good price from Smoky Mountain Knifeworks at very good prices.
