Monday marked official debut of the new GBTV channel, but also this week we are marking the debut of one of Mercury Radio Arts’ newest employees.
If you tuned in for the Glenn Beck radio program Monday morning, you were informally introduced to The Blaze’s own news reporter and anchor Robyn Walensky as she interjected the latest news from The Blaze into the broadcast.
So who is Robyn Walensky and how did she come to be tied up with the likes of us?
Robyn’s veteran news career has included extensive coverage of crime, terrorism, politics and other breaking news and spanned more than 20 years on both radio and television. She’s also the published co-author of Covering Catastrophe: Broadcast Journalists Report 9-11-01 reporting extensively on both the World Trade Center bombing of 1993 and the 9/11 attacks on New York in 2001.
In addition to these memorable headlines, Robyn has been at the center of covering some of the last decade’s biggest stories, including the disappearance of Natalee Holloway in Aruba, the shootings at Virginia Tech University, the BP Gulf oil spill, OJ Simpson’s arrest and theft conviction in Las Vegas and extensive political coverage from the presidential campaign trail and political conventions since 1992.
More recently, Robyn could be heard leading prime-time reporting of the Casey Anthony trial on WDBO, Orlando’s top-rated news and information station. In addition, she co-hosted a daily program called “Casey on Trial” and regularly offered insight on CNN’s Nancy Grace Show. The high-profile murder trial has also inspired her to begin work on a second book which will offer her unique and exclusive perspective on the trial.
Prior to joining WDBO Robyn was covering New Orleans, first as the co-host of a highly rated morning news and talk program on WRNO-FM and later as a television reporter for WGNO-TV. She covered everything from the BP oil spill in the Gulf to the Saints improbable run to the Super Bowl.
Robyn has also worked as a national correspondent and news anchor for Fox News Radio, the Associated Press, WWOR television in New York and the legendary Newsradio 1010 WINS also in New York City.
Walensky obtained her B.A. in Journalism and Political Science from The George Washington University and went on to get her Masters degree in Journalism from New York University. Robyn has taught Journalism courses at Tulane University and continues to teach feature-writing online.
In the coming months, stay tuned to The Blaze and GBTV to catch Robyn anchoring stories on the Glenn Beck radio program daily and taking viewers out of the studio to report on exclusive stories.

Posted on September 13, 2011 at 4:00pmRobyn Walensky, how are you? We miss you here in New Orleans. Loved hearing you on WRNO in New Orleans and loved seeing you with Nancy Grace on CNN. Looking forward to reading and hearing more from you. Our best to you always.

Posted on September 13, 2011 at 3:04pmI didn’t enjoy the 2 segments where theblaze was being promoting by repeating exactly what can be read on here. Naturally, 99.9% of people watching on the net are computer literate enough to go to the blaze themselves & read the stories, and, of course, all us GB followers know full well about the existence of theblaze. No need to be redundant.
I’d like to see more of Eric on the show as he impressed me the most during the Restoring Courage event.

Posted on September 13, 2011 at 11:40am“Fact: Glenn Beck advocates principled political participation based on the Bible and Constitution.”
Report Post »No the real fact: That was the old Glenn Beck. The new Glenn Beck seeks to promote his own agenda by trashing other conservatives. Sorry after today’s show I no long believe in Glenn Beck as a champion of truth and freedom. He simply is just like all the rest. Rich and seeking to promote himself.

Posted on September 13, 2011 at 10:27amAs to internet GBTV broadcast’s video clarity – you might, if having “blurry” problems and buffering problems, check the box at the bottom of the screen, which allows the software to adjust to your internet stream’s bit rate. I only have – at this time – about 380kb (pretty weak, for downloads…) from the wifi in my RV park where I spend my Summers, and my reception of GBTV (as “adjusted” by the software on the GB Network’s screen) is pretty close to HD. Amazing.
At home, I get around 30MB NetSpeed on my cable internet, and there, I anticipate absolute crystal clarity of signal, but thanks to the software, as mentioned,Glenn’s IT crew(s) have made great reception possible, for me at least, with very limited internet bandwidth.

Posted on September 13, 2011 at 9:43amWatched the show live on Roku and have to say it was pretty good for a first show.. Robyn could definately use some polishing up though as her live presentation was a bit amateurish. That said, i like the Blaze content as filler but this first show made me wonder if Glenn really has the resources and daily material to produce a 2 hour spot without too much filler. I think the first show had a bit too much fluff for me and i’ve been watching Glenn since his debut. Maybe some “teaching moments” like he did in the Broke book as filler would be better. It would give him a few minutes to quickly cover some unrelated items without disrupting the main flow. I DO understand that GBTV was and is a monumental undertaking and there are no real models to follow but i hope it improves quickly so the audience grows rather than shrinks. Keep going guys!

Posted on September 13, 2011 at 11:58amI have been a follower of Robyn Walensky for some time now and her views are always spot on. She tells it like it is and that is exactly what everyone needs these days. THE TRUTH! She was a great asset to the Nancy Grace program in the covering of the Casey Anthony trial and she is going to be just as big of an asset to the Glenn Beck program. Keep up the awesome job Robyn!

Posted on September 13, 2011 at 3:23pmJust a couple of suggestions on the newscast.
1. Have the anchor sit behind a desk.
Report Post »2. When running a video in the background, zoom in on the screen and don’t show the anchor and the screen at the same time.
3. Give a more indepth coverage of the stories. A 10 second spot is not enough to get the facts out.

Posted on September 13, 2011 at 9:35amLove Glenn, Love the radio show, love GBTV…if you don’t have it, then you need to get it…and yes ROKU is the best way to go for hooking up to your TV I think. I did the HDMI cable. One cable to the TV, one to the ROKU and the power plug. Couldn’t have been easier. My internet connection sometimes gets to weak and we get a lot of buffering, but then all of a sudden it will be fine from there on out. I plan to contact my internet provider and find out why this happens and see if there isn’t something they can do about it. Just in case some others of you out there are having the same problem, you might want to do the same. We fixed ours at work when it was doing this. We found we were only running on 1/4 of the power we should have been.

Posted on September 13, 2011 at 9:28amFor those of us who listen from the internet, adding Blaze news during the intermissions is a huge improvement. The other filler was repetitious to the point of annoyance.

Posted on September 13, 2011 at 9:15amFirst off, I caught the show after it broadcast, on my Roku – it was very good for a first show, loking forward to when everyone settles in and gets more comfortable in their new roles…
I would suggest looking into a Roku to watch Glenn’s shows and other GBTV offerings – they are very affordable ($50-100), typically include wireless, and will connect to almost any TV with a wired input (composite (Yellow, Red, and White), component (Red, Green, Blue), or HDMI and once bought, incur no additional monthly cost.
By streaming the shows over Roku, you are using their massive streaming facilities, not relying on Glenn’s evolving infrastructure. For right now, I think Roku is the way to go.
Hope this helps, and welcome to all the new shiny faces!

Posted on September 13, 2011 at 7:51amIsn’t it amazing Obama was given a trillion dollars to create jobs. Not one job was created. Unions were given money to keep workers that eventually have been and will be laid off. Beck has no problem creating jobs.

Posted on September 13, 2011 at 10:53amFact: Glenn Beck advocates principled political participation based on the Bible and Constitution.
Problem: Glenn Beck‘s hypocritical failure to acknowledge Obama’s ineligibility.
Solution: Glenn Beck is undeserving of trust and patronage.
Art. 2, Sec. 1, “No person except a natural born Citizen, or a Citizen of the United States, at the time of the Adoption of this Constitution, shall be eligible … .”
Exempting a citizen (the minimum requisite then was US birth to a US father) from being a natural born citizen, proves they are not equal. Only US birth to US citizen parents (plural) is greater, thus defining a natural born citizen.[1]
This was confirmed by Supreme Court binding precedent in Minor v. Happersett, 1874, “The Court held that Minor was a member of the “class” of persons who were natural born citizens. They defined this class as those born in the US to “parents” (plural) who were citizens.” This is “binding precedent as to the Constitutional definition of a natural born citizen.”[2]

Thank you for your reply.
Now here’s mine.
As you are a relatively new member of this forum having joined but two short months ago, doubtless you are unfamiliar with the writings and political inclination of many long standing contributors such as myself.
Therefore be advised that this forum welcomes both personal opinion and political commentary; it is not relegated only to debate. If you seek confrontational and argumentative personal interaction with others of your like ilk, you will certainly find that here, just not with me.
With that said, were you more familiar with my comment history beyond the recent few offered for your review, you would know that in addition to posting pertinent properly referenced factual commentary, I do, occasionally engage other thoughtful members directly. However this is hardly a proper forum for debate, nor should you expect any further reply regarding such a short sighted observation hinting at advocating censorship.
Again welcome to the forum and thank you for your reply. Be well and at peace with yourself and others, as best you can.
