‘The Communist’ Part I: Obama’s Mentor Frank Marshall Davis Exposed

On July 17th, Mercury Ink and author Paul Kengor, PhD, will introduce the world to the real Frank Marshall Davis – the card-carrying member of the Communist Party U.S.A, and who all accounts indicate was Barack Obama’s closest role model and mentor. Devoid of outrageous conspiracy theories or sensational claims, Kengor painstakingly documents the historical facts of this dynamic, at times even sympathetic character, who walked the path from Republican roots clear through to the radical fringe of unfettered Marxism.

Presently, certain news and commentary outlets are focusing on the more outrageous aspects of Frank Marshall Davis’ life, such as his self-admitted penchant for perverse sexual escapades as well as for taking photos of naked women (including of Stanley Ann Dunham, Obama’s mother). In fact, the recently released documentary, “Dreams From My Real Father,” even posits that Davis is the president’s true biological father.  While much of Davis’ bizarre fetishes and sexual peccadilloes provide subject matter worthy of consideration, Kengor believes that his book, “The Communist,” focuses on the substantive ideological, rather than sensational aspects of Davis’ past.

At the end of the day, according to Kengor, mentors matter – and in no small amount.  The book opens by explaining how Ronald Reagan and Hillary Clinton’s role models were extremely influential in each of their lives, respectively. In fact, typically the first task of any biographer is to examine the mentors of the subject he or she is writing about.  Oddly, when it comes to our current president, left-wing biographers have somehow avoided this topic altogether.

As The Communist reveals that the “transformative change” Obama promised to deliver (and did) eerily find their origin in the words and deeds of his closest mentor.

And therein lies the rub. Examining the mentor is perhaps one of the most significant aspects of the presidential vetting process. Those who came before Obama all acknowledged the profound impact their mentors had on them, both growing up, and into adulthood. Of course the reason is clear – exploring who a presidential nominee’s influences are provides key insight into that candidate’s world-view.

Kengor notes that although both Ronald Reagan and Hillary Clinton’s role models were indeed of great import to each of them, their names were rarely mentioned in each of their biographies. Ironically, however, Obama mentioned “Frank” by name no less than 22 times in his memoir, “Dreams From My Father.”

“We’ve had 44 presidents and they’ve all had mentors,” Kengor told me during an exclusive Blaze interview. “Yet never before in the entire 200-plus year [presidential] history of this country, have we had a president with a mentor who was a card carrying member of the Communist Party.

Kengor takes issue with the fact that no liberal biographer acknowledges that Frank Marshall Davis was Obama’s mentor, yet those same biographers have never denied that Don Jones mentored Ronald Reagan, just as Ben Cleaver guided an impressionable, young Hillary Clinton until her departure to university. Perhaps the reason no one cares, according to Kengor, is because both Cleaver and Jones “loved America” and were not “pro-soviet members of the Communist Party.” He believes journalists, biographers, and the media in general are guilty of “scandalous neglect” when discussing Barack Obama.

“The problem with Obama,” said Kengor, “is that he was never vetted, so you have skeletons in the closet.” He explained that while there has been no shortage of coverage from the right in exposing Obama’s ties to Reverend Jeremiah Wright or the Weather Underground’s Bill Ayers, “no one talks about Davis, and Davis was far more radical [than either Ayers or Wright].”

In fact, Kengor maintains that Ayer’s most radical university lecture, or Wright’s most flagrant sermon pales in comparison to any of the volumes Frank Marshall Davis espoused in his columns for various Communist newspapers across the country.

“Imagine if there was a GOP nominee with a mentor this extreme to the right. They would never have escaped the media scrutiny.”

Historically, Kengor observed a pattern among the left in which its adherents are never vigilant when it comes to Communism. Even American Civil Liberties Union founder, Roger Nash Baldwin, wrote a book entitled, “Liberty Under the Soviets” demonstrating progressives’ sympathy for all things Communist.

As we near the July 17th release date of “The Communist” The Blaze will be releasing two more “sneak preview” articles detailing some of the shocking revelations Kengor discovered along the way.

For instance, you will learn that Frank Marshall Davis actually started out as a member of the GOP, reviled Democrats (in particular Harry Truman and Franklin Delano Roosevelt) and only turned to Communism after being fully duped by a Soviet propaganda campaign that convinced him the USSR had abolished racism of all kinds.

You will also see laid out in black and white, the stark parallels between Frank Marshall Davis’ words and deeds and those of the Obama administration — from universal health care to the catch phrases, “hope and change” and “forward!” (all of which find origin in Obama’s Communist mentor).

      Nothing about obama surprises me anymore. I google things to get some insight and read that this Frank M. Davis is thought to be his daddy as he & his wife had sex parties at their house for young people and Ann Dunham participated.
      But then, I also read that Malcolm X was his daddy, then I read that Obama Sr. wasn’t even in Hawaii at that time.
      I read that Ann Dunham/s mom & dad claim to be communists too.
      Which magazine claimed he was the first Gay president? That also can be googled
      about gay bath houses in Chicago, and some of his friends at Wright’s church claimed to have gay times. If nothing else, it’s either true or an interesting story.
      Just too much there not to investigate; where‘s there’s smoke, there are some embers scattering about, ready to start another forest fire.

      @ Blubonnet, Actually if you take a good look at pictures of Malcolm X, Obama Sr and Frank Marshal and put Obama Jr next to them, Obama looks just like Malcolm X, same exact jaw line, same exact facial features as well as they both have that same defiant look in their eyes. So who know who Obama’s real Father is, but just know he looks nothing like Obama Sr.

      was almost no question. But, then the Frank Marshall Davis story sounds likely just from what I read. We’ll never know, but not knowing who his daddy is, is prob. what makes him so defiant and angry and arrogant.

      Do you mean like the Japanese that were hearded up in WWII? Or like the conservatives that Glenn Beck claims will be put in FEMA concentration camps before the 2010 elections? Or the “communists’ that McCarthy wanted rounded up and confined? Or the Muslims or blacks or Mexicans or Jews (Soros, Piven, Wasserman-Shultz, etc) that the fringe wants ejected from the country?

      Why is it that the right wants everyone except white,conservative Christians to leave the country?

      Even Christians who believe that as a country we should support the poor as Christ taught are porclaimed to be the anti-Christ or anti-American or communists (excuse me, “Marxists”) and commanded nicely to leave the country and practice their brand of Christian charity somewhere else.

      I‘m confident most Americans don’t believe the fear Mongering about George H. W. Bush and his plan for Universal Health Care. Or the tax hikes and closing of tax loopholes for the rich that Ronald Reagan pursued, nor his 18 different tax hikes to reduce the deficit. And Americans see that the Bush tax cuts not only didn’t help the economy, but only made the deficet skyrocket.

      JZS, You’ll have to remember that it was a Democrat FDR who rounded up the Japanese-Americans and put them in concentration camps. While he was at it, he rounded up a good number of German-Americans, and Italian-Americans. What do FDR and 0bama have in common? They rule mostly by fiat, and leave the Congress out, and both have vocally threatened the SCOTUS. FDR took it a step further by increasing the number of judges from five to nine. Then packed it with judges favorable to him. When a president can do this to our citizens, then he has made himself far too powerful. I don’t want a president of any party to have that much power ever.

      Obama is a candidate bought and paid for by Wall Street. The largest donors to his campaign BY FAR were Wall St. firms and he (like Bush before him) has served them assiduously. This notion that he is a Communist is totally absurd and baseless. He is a servile Corporatist just like every other major politician. His policies are virtually identical to Republican policies. It is only the rhetoric that changes. Just look at his healthcare plan. The supposed “proof” that he is a commie socialist. Well who came up with that plan? Newt Gingrich did. Who was the first person to pass Obama’s plan? Mitt Romney as governor of MA. It is a Republican healthcare bill. The only major difference between RomneyCare and ObamaCare is that Romney covers illegal immigrants while Obama does not.

      Let’s stop being trolled by the corporatist bullshitters into thinking there is a communist conspiracy.     to be his real father – SO THAT it provides Barack with 2 American

      2. this union is covered up by ann by claiming barack sr. as the father.
      3. barry loses his u.s. citizenship when he is adopted by lolo soetoro and becomes an indonesian citizen. and barry is NOT re-patriated.
      4. barry uses his indonesian passport and visits pakistan in the 1980′s.
      5. barry is groomed for the presidency by communists (bill ayers father among them).
      6. as barry starts his political career, the background clean-up begins.
      7. there are other side issues involving homosexual liasons involving barry at rev. wright’s church that are also cleaned-up.

    Whenever you hear that “Mr. Obama was never vetted” from the right wing fringe what they’re actually saying is that already-reported items have inexplicitly failed to get voters to reject him.

    Sorry to break it to you but the 2008 campaign functioned to produce information about Mr. Obama. Mr. Obama survived a general election campaign against John McCain and a tough primary fight against Hillary Clinton and several other seemingly competent campaigns up through Iowa, as well.

      These people in the Presidents background were not from the 1800′s! We should be able to know a great deal about them since we kept pretty good records even from the 40′s and on. There should be tracks all over the place where these people lived, worked, schooled etc. Hopefully this is a start at exposing this mans history for public scrutiny.

      Your system sucks from top to bottom.

      Your your hospital staff has to apologize for not having the basic supplies on hand that are needed to treat a relatively common emergency room visit, and they tell you to go find your own, I’d say that sucks.

      You still have not answered me as to why so many of your citizens come here for quality, and timely care?

In the course of the 2008 election, Barack Obama’s background was gone over not just by mainstream outlets like the New York Times, but by Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign, the McCain campaign, and the RNC — all groups who had a vested interest in digging up campaign-killing dirt on Obama. They couldn’t even muster a doctored “honkey” tape.

      The right is also pushing the idea that Obama’s affiliation with Rev. Jeremiah Wright was ignored by the press. This ignores the mainstream media’s incessant replay of Wright’s remarks, particularly on ABC News. It also ignores the fact that the noise of the coverage got so loud that Obama made a speech about it. It wasn’t as if the Obama campaign said “let’s talk about this man and his relationship with Obama for no good reason.”

      Additionally Obama’s past was probed by partisan media outlets — conservative blogs, opinion journals like The Weekly Standard and National Review, in addition to Fox News. None of those outlets had any reason to hold back on an anti-Obama anecdote, story, or more that would cast him in the most negative light possible.

      This is a lot like people assuming that conspiracy theories involving multiple government agencies employing thousands of people can be kept a secret, for generations. It just doesn’t happen.

      In addition to Obama’s own autobiography, there have been almost as many books written about the life of Obama as any other modern U.S. president, save perhaps for Bill Clinton.
      Not to mention the research staffs for multiple conservative radio talk show hosts. Does anyone believe that if a Rush Limbaugh staffer had found Obama’s Secret Plan for Socialism it wouldn’t be out there?

      Thanks to the extensive vetting of Obama in 2008, we know more about his unique background than we do a lot of other U.S. presidents. We know about his internal identity struggles, just how much weed he may have smoked, what he did for fun, and on and on and on.

      You could even take the weekend and scan through the Wikipedia page of Obama’s early life and career. Feel free to make contributions noting Obama’s mysterious connection to the New World Order.

      I worked for a Canadian company 3 years ago. My supervisor admitted that the health care was so terrible in Toronto that she had to bring her father to a hospital in NY to treat him for his cancer b/c the Canadian Drs. essentially said, “well, he’s going to die anyway.” Another fantastic example, I was pregnant at the same time as my general manager’s wife. I asked him whether he knew whether his child was a boy or a girl. His wife was 5 mos. along and I was a month behind her and had had 2 ultrasounds at that point and knew the sex of my child. He replied, “Oh, we don’t know yet.“ ”What??? You don’t know what you are having? Have you had an ultrasound yet?“ ”No, No, they don’t do that here until 6 mos.” Really? Um, what if you had a tubal pregnancy? What if there were disabilities in your child that you needed to prepare your house (and life) for. What if? I guess the system up there considers it wasteful spending. And by the way, I would have lost my child by not going to a check-up at 37 weeks. Turned out the Dr. wanted me to walk to the next room to get an ultrasound because she had a suspicion the baby was breech. Well, yes, she was breech. And if it wasn’t for the ultrasound that day we would never have known that my placenta had stopped making amniotic fluid and thus the baby would have suffocated. They deli

      Romney is not a commie. Ron Paul is an 11 term politician who loves his earmarks, nothing libertarian(classic liberal like the Founding Fathers) about that. Of the 620 bills sponsored by Ron Paul during his long career in the House of Representatives, only four have ever made it to a vote on the House floor and only one of those became an actual law. He hasn’t gotten a single law passed until 2009, when he authored a bill that allowed for the sale of a customs house in Galveston, Texas. Wt?!? The only thing I agree with Ron Paul on is his monetary policy and he would make a great US Treasury Secretary that is all.

    For anyone interested in additional material worth reading on this man and the CPUSA origins; I would suggest checking out the book “Revolutionary Sparks: Freedom of Expression in Modern Amerca” by Margaret Blanchard.

    While most of the book is on the battle for free expression v suppression of ideas (and what depth they go into against FDR), it does cover the origins at the turn of the 20th century of many of the communist/socialist parties in America, and many of the labor unions such as AFL-CIO in the original two unions AFL/CIO before they merged into one.

    I have finished this book over the last week, and it is chilling how many times civil liberties have been all but put to the sword by the progressives.

    We see one more influence on the Marxist Obama, and how his hatered for the US has grown; we need to oust him this Nov, and get the nation back in the right direction.
