Hot Air’s Ed Morrissey starts off his post on the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) new climate-change rap saying, “I don’t want to oversell it, but it might be the greatest hip-hop track since Joe Biden and Jay-Z dueted on ‘High-Speed Rail.’”
I’m sold.
The point seems to be conserving energy and water and walking, or something. And it’s aimed at kids. Listen first, and the lyrics from the EPA’s website are included after the video:

You can pick up paper and recycle it too, and there are many other things that you can do. You can click off the game boy, flip off the light, while you’re brushing your teeth, turn the handle to the right. Close the fridge door – keep it shut tight, no food has been added since the middle of the night. A 5 minute shower is all that’s needed to keep energy from being depleted. A long sleeve sweater is what I know – will keep you toasty and the fuel bills low. Plant a tree in your neighborhood, besides giving shade you know it looks real good.

… and we will all “go far” if we stop using our vehicles??? If by “go far”, he means have the few of us that still work for a living and pay taxes switch jobs to one that is closer to home for less pay, then yes, I see how the general effect would be to lessen federal revenue and cause a major economical collapse that much sooner! So far we have not gotten to 60 degrees once this year, It snowed 8 inches yesterday, and it has been the 3rd snowiest winter ever (at least since the ice age). For God’s sake it is April 21st! I’d welcome some global warming right now, so don’t mind me if I spray a couple dozen aerosol cans per day and use my car for every errand, no matter how short the distance. The past 3 winters here have sucked!

Yea that’s the whole point of indocrinating our children. Young fragile minds soaking up all this “clap trap cr*p”, because if they make it sound cool or look like a video game, most kids will “eat it up” like candy or crack.
So when they redistibute all our blood and treasure to every other country through cap and trade/tax, useless wars/police actions, exporting all our jobs and inventions, and buying oil when we have plenty of our own, we will be so broke. We will then be like a third world country. Equal to the rest of the world and their New World Order with a few global elites running the show. Our children won’t know the difference by then nor will they know what really made America great. We (if we’re still alive) will be a complacent bunch of slaves.

Posted on April 21, 2011 at 8:10amMy kids celebrated Earth Day last Friday. Why you may ask? Earth Day is tomorrow which happens to be Good Friday. I believe the latter should take precedence. But then again, they attend a parochial school and the new principal does not fall for any of this crap.
When kids go to school tomorrow, they will learn about how evil we are because we are killing the polar bears and drive cars instead of learning about Good Friday and the significance of that day.

Even if we all turn off our water when brushing our teeth, we won’t even save as much water as we flush down the Sacramento delta each year to save the Delta Smelt.
Even if we all take public transportation, we’d only drop CO2 emissions in the US by about 15%. Transportation is only 30% of all emissions, and a lot of that is from trucking. Most of our emissions (49%) are from our coal and gas plants, which should be eliminated anyway, for a lot of reasons, not just their CO2 output.
If we switched to an all-nuclear power supply, we‘d meet every CO2 target without affecting people’s daily lives (take public transportation!) or raising our power bills.

Posted on April 21, 2011 at 12:55pm@Section 8: The right are stupid on the issue for failing to understand the science (which is actually pretty basic). The left are stupid on the issue for insisting on solutions that are both A) Expensive and B) Won’t make a bit of difference.
To the global warming doubters, the science is pretty straightforward. There’s a certain amount of energy that comes into and out of our atmosphere. If you retain even slightly more energy, there will be an imbalance and the earth will heat up over time. Increasing the greenhouse effect by 0.03% will result (on average) in a +1C temperature change. CO2 levels have been rising (this is non-debatable), and CO2 contributes to the greenhouse effect. I can provide numbers for all of these things, and they’ll all well understood.
The areas that are less well understood are the feedback mechanisms. As you have more heat, you get more clouds. Do the clouds reflect sunlight? Yes. Do the clouds trap heat? Yes. So *where* the clouds are is very important (over land or over water), and so forth.
To use an analogy – if you eat an extra slice of pie every day, you’re probably going to get fatter. Since there’s about 3500 calories in a pound of fat, and a slice of pie has about 500 calories, *on average you will gain a pound a week*. Some people might gain more, some less. It’s very hard to predict the exact amount. But simple numbers can tell us what the expected gain will be, and it‘s very unlikely we’d lose weight on such a diet.

I was making a point that instead of learning about Good Friday and Easter Sunday, the kids will be learning about GW. The bible states we are to be good stewards to the earth, you respect the Earth that God has given us but not to the point of making you feel guilty about driving a car (SUV) or your consumption of energy. You can’t have it both ways there bud. I suspect once you get out of school and have to actually support a family and pay taxes ( rather than receive taxes), your tune will change some. Right now you are still enamored by the idea that you and your generation are going to “Save The Planet”. A planet which has been here for millions of years, survived numerous ice ages, meteor strikes, volcanoes, Tsunamis, earthquakes, solar flares, famines, plaques and world wars, and yet somehow will fall victim to the very substance that the atmosphere requires most (CO2) if you and your college buddies don’t quickly make everyone Amish.
