The Failure of Multiculturalism Explained

Earlier today The Blaze reported on a planned rally for Thursday of this week in support of Shariah Law replacing the U.S. Constitution:
Some say that the rise of protests like this one are the fruits of “multiculturalism.” For decades, Americans have been told that we have to be more open and accepting of the various cultures of people immigrating to our country. We do not have an official language and do not demand that people learn English.
However Europe has shown us that the concept of multiculturalism has more to do with fracturing a nation than diversifying or enriching it. Leaders in England, Germany, and Spain have all come forward and made the bold statement that the concept of “multiculturalism” just doesn’t work.
British Prime Minister David Cameron spoke to the European Union:
The Prime Minster added:
“The ideology of extremism is the problem; Islam emphatically is not. Picking a fight with the latter will do nothing to help us to confront the former.”
“We need a lot less of the passive tolerance of recent years and a much more active, muscular liberalism. A passively tolerant society says to its citizens, as long as you obey the law we will just leave you alone. It stands neutral between different values. But I believe a genuinely liberal country does much more; it believes in certain values and actively promotes them.
Freedom of speech, freedom of worship, democracy, the rule of law, equal rights regardless of race, sex or sexuality. It says to its citizens, this is what defines us as a society: to belong here is to believe in these things.”
Last Fall, German Chancellor Angela Merkel was speaking at a meeting of the conservative CDU, the Christian Democratic Union and made herself quite clear on the topic as well:
“Multikulti, the concept that we are now living side by side and are happy about it, does not work. This approach has failed, utterly.”
French President Sarkozy made his thoughts perfectly clear:
“Our Muslim compatriots must be able to live and practice their religion like any of our Jewish, Protestant, or Catholic compatriots. But it must be about an Islam of France and not an Islam within France.”
To help us understand it, here‘s PJTV’s Andrew Klavan offering his unique insights on the theory of Multiculturalism.

Posted on March 1, 2011 at 3:08pmAs explained Sunday at Church, no man can serve two master. He will hate or despise the other. In Multiculturalism is the same problem, you can not say you’re an American, and say you are still a (pick the country of your choice too) You must embrace one, and foresake the other, Or JUST GO BACK WHERE YOU CAME FROM SINCE YOU STILL EMBRACE THAT CULTURE.

Posted on March 1, 2011 at 2:38pmThis is exactly why I refuse to recogonize hyphenated Americans. You either are American, or you are not.
Report Post »I was born in America, as were my parents and their parents, I think I am 4th or 5th generation American. So when someone asks me “where I’m from” or what my nationality is I say American. I cannot say Native-American, because then they want to know what tribe I belong to.
I used to work with a young black man who was born and raised in North Carolina. I think calling him African-American makes about as much sense as calling me European-American. Sure my ancestors came from Europe, and his most likely came from Africa, but we were both blessed with being born here in America.
I think it is high time that we as American’s start stading up for our culture, our language and our borders.

Posted on March 1, 2011 at 2:34pmBe ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness? And what concord hath Christ with Belial? or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel? And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in [them]; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people. Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean [thing]; and I will receive you,…

Posted on March 1, 2011 at 1:50pmI hope we have our new people in Washington working on this as we speak! One language (English). No more 50 languages in school, English books only! You could still take another language course for extra credit . We must demand America first! I really like the 20 years till you become a citizen too! That would keep you on your toes to be a good productive citizen FOR SURE! There isn’t a lot of good comes from something gotten easily!

Posted on March 1, 2011 at 12:36pmWhen times are easy and the bank account is full children’s ideas seem to make some sense and the adults forget to check. The left is bent on destroying all the traditional cultural institutions with the intent of making the state our ultimate master. Multiculturalism is simply one of the weapons used in this battle, and it surprises me that the european leaders are commenting at all, they being what I would see as leftist minded people.

Posted on March 1, 2011 at 10:02amHere in Canada we’ve got this multi-cultural nightmare.
Report Post »Immigrants come and then build a community within a community that mimics the failed states they ran from. However they come out in droves to protest for our government to do something when something goes sour in the failed state back home.
And we have to be constantly on our toes because they are continually trying to implement Sharia here. Last year they were trying to get honor killing separated from murder in the criminal code. Of course it doesn’t take a genius to figure where that little gem was heading. Luckily our Prime Minister said “NO WAY”. But they’ll be coming back from another angle for sure.
Be vigilant my friends because this thing seems to be getting out of hand.

Posted on March 1, 2011 at 9:36amMulticultarism is antithetical to one of the great American values: E Pluribus Unum. … Just as egalitarianism is to Liberty, and as political religion (statism) is to In God We Trust. … The American Trinity (In God We Trust, Liberty, E Pluribus Unum) makes more sense to me everday.

Posted on March 1, 2011 at 8:29amLOL Dr. Funk,
It’s as if the entire west has been under some sort of hypnotic spell for 30+ years…The only good thing is the death-skid Europe is in may wake up enough people here in the US and Canada to make some swift changes in immigration and the reinstitution of American/Western culture vs. everyone‘s ’cultural heritage’.

Posted on March 1, 2011 at 5:24amGood example of sarcasm there, I have to agree completely; the fact is in America, when you are to imigrate, and integrate into the society as a whole. The different cultures we originate from make the icing of the great USA cake. Each of us born here and imigrating here legally need to realize that first, foremost, and always we are Americans.
We begin with something great … being American, and the input of our combined cultural and national backgrounds add the extra uniqueness to the whole.

Posted on March 1, 2011 at 10:16amI have said it for years now our biggest threat as a nation is not Islam, China, or socialism. It is the moral relativism philosophy!!!! This being born out of the desire to do away with God and any of His moral directives in order to justify any and most all behaviors with a clear conscience. We can now justify abortion, homosexual marriage, greed, corruption, tyranny (under the banner of social justice), disregard for individual responsibility, promiscuity, euthanasia, and terrorism as a civil rights issue. This is the Achilles heel of our country that will weaken us, undermine us, and eventually, unless we turn things around, transform us into something unrecognizable than what we have always been !!!!!!!

Posted on March 1, 2011 at 11:25amI live in one of the most ethnically diverse cities in America. Groups who do not assimilate are demanding more rights, including having voter ballots printed in over a dozen languages. All this does is encourage separation, not integration. When my grandparents came to America over 100 years ago, they learned the language here immediately because they knew they would starve otherwise. They had to wait 20 years to get full citizenship back then, but they did whatever it took to become “Americans’….they even named their children who were born here with American names. Our family has turned out quite well… very patriotic and honest. Ethnic diversity encourages isolation and failure. I have moved to a community where I feel my culture can bloom rather than be stifled. Listen to what Europeans are now saying… they’ve been there.
