It‘s no secret that today is Glenn Beck’s last day on the Fox News Channel. He’ll sign off at 6 pm and begin his own online network called GBTV. And ever since he announced he was leaving his daily program on the top-rated cable network, rumors have swirled about who would replace him in the 5 pm slot. Now, we have an answer. And it involves multiple people.
The network announced that it will fill Beck’s slot with an ensemble program featuring a roundtable of rotating Fox personalities. Those include Greg Gutfeld, Juan Williams, Dana Perino, Judge Andrew Napolitano, Geraldo Rivera, Andrea Tantaros, Eric Bolling, Monica Crowley, Bob Beckel and Kimberly Guilfoyle.
The new show, which is a temporary summer replacement for Beck, will launch July 11.
“The Five brings together an eclectic group of FOX talent whose knowledge of key issues and unique insights will undoubtedly make for a dynamic program,” Bill Shine, executive vice president of programming for the network, said in a press release.
Below is the full press release via HuffPo:
FOX News Channel (FNC) will launch a new weekday program on July 11th at 5 PM/ET, announced Bill Shine, Executive Vice President of Programming for the network. Entitled The Five, the program will serve as a replacement for Glenn Beck during the summer.
The new opinion show will feature a roundtable ensemble of five rotating FOX personalities who will discuss, debate and debunk the hot stories, controversies and issues of the day.
In making the announcement, Shine said, “The Five brings together an eclectic group of FOX talent whose knowledge of key issues and unique insights will undoubtedly make for a dynamic program.”
Some of the revolving FOX personalities to be showcased in the weekly ensemble include: Greg Gutfeld, Juan Williams, Dana Perino, Judge Andrew Napolitano, Geraldo Rivera, Andrea Tantaros, Eric Bolling, Monica Crowley, Bob Beckel and Kimberly Guilfoyle. The program will also feature added guests, including politicians, celebrities, sports figures and key newsmakers.
Prior to the launch of The Five, FNC will run encore presentations of Glenn Beck from Monday, July 4th through Friday, July 8th. On Friday, June 30th, [sic] What Makes America Great, hosted by John Stossel will be presented at 5 PM/ET.
Beck’s final program airs tonight. After that, his daily show will appear on his new online network called GBTV. Beck will also host a special on GBTV immediately after tonight’s final broadcast at 6:30 pm ET.

Posted on June 30, 2011 at 5:32pmWell the ratings are going to go through the floor with that mixed bag. No reason to expect anything other than the luck of the draw. Maybe a good show one time a lousy one the next. I wouldn’t waste any electricity watching Juan or Heraldo, or Beckel. Did they forget to put Alan Colmes in there? Cmon Fox, you can do better than that. What about Lou Dobbs?

Geraldo Rivera?? hahaha he‘s the Reporter That Won’t Die! They‘ve sent him into Al Capone’s Vault, onto the slopes of Mount St. Helens, into combat zones, and riots… but he’s an undead liberal zombie that just keeps crawling back …

Posted on June 30, 2011 at 8:39pmYou can see re-runs of 5-0? Lucky dog. I don’t think this new show will go anywhere. Nothing against the crew, but no thanks. I think a show with “The Hammer” would keep me on the edge of my seat, because I can hardly hear him. It’s worth struggling to hear his velvet tones, though. I don‘t think he’d do it. He’d be bored. I like Judge Andy, but sometimes he screams so it’s the opposite of the problem with the Hammer. What they are proposing is already being done better by Brett B. I don’t really want to sit through Geraldo. I won’t watch Beckel. I can‘t look at him without thinking that he’s not nearly as Liberal (for the poor, etc.) as he portrays himself. He seems mean. I would watch his brother. Poor little Juan. I won’t criticize him. It’s like kicking Bambi. The Hammer kicks Bambi all the time, except when Bambi’s being kicked by NPR. If Sarah doesn’t run, she could be big in that slot, if they let her do the program her way.

Posted on July 1, 2011 at 2:06amHey strings…think about what you just said and the value that you’ve gained from the GB program. If you break down the cost of GBTV it’s only 20-30 cents a day. Posted on July 2, 2011 at 3:10pmWe will miss Glenn Beck also but are determined to stream his show to our big screen starting in September so we will not miss any of his shows. Glenn has educated us and has made a profound difference in awakening the sleeping uninformed folks in the USA who do not have an inkling about what is going on right now in the political arena. I admire some of the new line up but am over saturated with Mr. Beckel, Juan Williams and Geraldo Rivera…yawn
Eric Bolling is great and could possible take over his own show akin to one like Glenns but nobody can really match up to the new founding father of America.
Monica Crowley is well informed, as is Dana Perino. Andrea Tantaros is ok. The Judge is great but has his own show.
Kimberly Guilfoyle is ok as a guest.
Looks to us like a desperate attempt of Fox News to try to keep up the ratings that Glenn built up but I do not think that the provision of true information is there, the chemistry, or the intelligence combined is there to capture the viewers.
Lots of hype but no real substance but for a slim few of the new line up.
Missing is Michele Malkin.
We would have preferred Glenn but will not watch the new line up as we will stream GBTV
Some of the line up are too much of the same old same old yawn yawn yawn…..
best of the bunch is Eric Bowling who would be fantastic with Ms. Malkin as a co host.
Just my thoughts. We are losing the best show ever! This pathetic attempt is vanilla ice cream!

He hasn’t gone anywhere. It was rather nice today not having FOX on from 2 PM -8 PM… I don’t feel I missed anything after GLENN!! I think GBTV is the FUTURE of Broadcasting and I think the fact that Beck has MLB doing his site (great action, no interruptions or computer glitch stuff) I’ve already read and heard of several people who have ditched their CABLE and are going WEB CAST only. We’re thinking of doing that too!! Save about $ 200 a month all things considered!
Not to be nasty, Stossel is an okay guy…but I wonder what those numbers were like today…and most of you have called it right “the 5?” Good grief…who needs to watch more debate about what is going on..>WE KNOW WHAT IS GOING ON < WE have enemies trying to take over America with the biggest one in the WH now. But whatever…go to GlennBeck.com and find out. Support the man who stuck his neck WAYYYYYYYYYY out to help America…and he succeeded!!!! Where would be be right this second without GLENN? I keep asking my husband why more shows or news doesn’t come out and say what the WH is doing…actually destroying our country. They know what they are doing; one or 2 bricks at a time. It is just that our leader can’t even fake being a good leader. He doesn’t even make himself believealbe. But for the news people to sit around and say he is a failure or b o doesn’t know what he is doing is just not true. The only thing I can think is that if they all spoke out like Glenn there would be panic. What do you think. Glenn tells not to panic but prepare.

This isn’t directed at you, but just all the like comments of yours and around you. Just keep in mind, it is a summer replacement show. They are just trying something and see what “sticks”. Gives them a couple of months to come up with the right filler for the spot. Besides, we’ll all be over at GBTV anyway. : )

Instead of Juan, Geraldo, and Bob, think about Monica, Andrea, and the Judge tearing Juan, Geraldo, and Bob to bits (intellectually, of course).
Theoretically it sounds good. Don’t be so narrow-minded, it makes you sound like a liberal; at least let’s give it try (it’s only a temporary thing, after all).

Glenn is not leading the way, we do not have a leader! We are many and we walk this journey. As we walk, we bring in others, one-by-one. Then, guess what? Out of many one (ring a bell?) Why don’t they give quality time to the many other children killed by their parent or family member? I‘m sick to death what’s happening to our little ones right here in America. In my state, there are child deaths and abuse by the parent far too often that never get this kind of notice. What about the little boy who was thrown into cactus in Texas? Boy friend beating a young child until she died. This happens all the time and we need to be aware of it, but this Anthony thing is getting on my nerves with Greta thinking it’s her responsibility to cover it when we have other crap going on in this Nation that needs to be reported. That Perino gal is getting on my nerves too, can’t watch her program, YIKES! just something about her.

Kinda hard to take, Beckel??? Juan Williams? I’ll watch the Da Judge & Dana is really cute, but if ya ask me, this is a really weak line up. I have a feeling that the Fox 5 o clock time slot will lose a lot of viewers. I doubt I’ll be tuning in much. Especially if they don’t announce who is on in advance. Juan & Bob? NO THANKS!!!
I also bet that there won’t be nearly the Beck type info so badly needed for the survival of the nation forth coming now. I KNOW we can count on Da Judge & Stossel. The rest? Milk. Hope they prove me wrong I’ll give them a week out of respect for Beck. All that aside… I think you will have to admit that Glenn made his GBTV as low as possible. We are really hurting ourselves. But $5 bucks is not alot.
