The Hague Issues Arrest Warrant for Gadhafi

THE HAGUE, Netherlands (AP) — The International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants Monday for Libyan leader Moammar Gadhafi, his son and his intelligence chief for crimes against humanity in the early days of their struggle to cling to power.

Judges announced that Gadhafi is wanted for orchestrating the killing, injuring, arrest and imprisonment of hundreds of civilians during the first 12 days of an uprising to topple him from power after more than four decades, and for trying to cover up the alleged crimes.

Presiding judge Sanji Monageng of Botswana said Monday there were “reasonable grounds to believe” that Gadhafi and his son are both “criminally responsible as indirect co-perpetrators” for the murder and persecution of civilians.

The warrants turn Gadhafi, his son Seif al-Islam Gadhafi and intelligence chief Abdullah al-Sanoussi into internationally wanted suspects, potentially complicating any efforts to mediate an end to more than four months of intense fighting in the North African nation.

Libyan officials rejected the court’s authority before the decision was read out in a Hague courtroom, claiming the court had unfairly targeted Africans while ignoring what they called crimes committed by NATO in Afghanistan, Iraq “and in Libya now.”

“The ICC has no legitimacy whatsoever. We will deal with it. … All of its activities are directed at African leaders,” government spokesman Moussa Ibrahim told reporters Sunday.

    So, the Hague will be announcing the next couple of “wanted” guys, right? Like mass-murderers Assad and Ahmadinejad. And, how about those Muslim Brotherhood guys, like Yusuf al Qaradawi who is preaching hate-Jew hate-infidel to 60 million Muslims a week, and who would do anything to kill a Jew from his wheelchair. And then how about the Hamas leaders? I‘m sure they’ll be adding them to the world’s “most wanted” list as well. Right?

    This is the Hamas that I’m sure the Hague will be rounding up soon, or at the very least putting them on the “wanted list”:

    An ARREST WARRENT; Boy now we are realy getting down to business that little dictator has got to be shaking in his boots.All the great powers of the world with the mighty US OF A in the lead have for the last 3 mo. been doing all they are capable of to swat that little flea, and have nothing to show for their efforts. Now they are going to send in the keystone cop’s to serve an arrest warrent. Poor old Qadhafi wont have a chance now, Inspector Clouso or better knowen as OBUMMER IS CLOSEING IN ON HIM

    The world criminal court has no legitimate sovereign authority over Libya or any other nation.

    Why just Ghaddafi? There is something really wrong about this concentration on Libya. It just doesn’t feel right.

    Thousands of people are being killed in Syria and Iran and Sudan and yet no one seems to be concerned.

      It is quite obvious whats up so I assume your question was rhetorical.
      My guess is that getting the current regime out of the way in Libya is more important because it is more USA friendly than the radical islam regime that will replace it. Syria is already in the bag for the muslim brotherhoods and radical islam so no biggie there. Bush was a dolt in so many ways. Prosecuting our own soldiers and border guards or rather persecuting them. bho is overtly dangerous and an enemy of the USA to anyone not afflicted with the insanity of liberalism.

      Quaddafi will not allow himself to be willingly taken to the ICC…this is one of those figures who WILL go down fighting if given the choice.

      So now the NATO forces are facing exhaustion militarily in the air campaign, and soon enough will withdraw due to not being able to carry the campaign forward; then will come one of two situations:

      A. Complete withdrawl with Quaddafi emerging victorious and on a more solid foundation than before.

      B. Full scale invasion with troops on the ground with the US leading the way.

      One thing I wish we could already do here is turn our own courts over to the trying of the admin and his cronies for criminal charges in their seeking to destroy our country and the Constitution. Give them a fair trial and weld the door to a cell shut if they are found guilty – no getting out ever.

Europeans are the cause of most of the worlds problems. As Colonialists, they divided up the third world and pillaged their wealth.       I remember us going to Panama and arresting their President, Noriega. That wasn’t legal and neither is this wild idea. I am trying to remember, weren’t some of the U.S. Officials charged with crimes and arrest warrants issued? Some of you should remember.
