The Latest Strike in Greece Includes…Reporters?

ATHENS, Greece (AP) — Greek journalists have walked off the job at the start of a four-day strike to protest job cuts and austerity measures.

The strike began at 6 a.m. (0300GMT) Thursday and will continue until early Monday. No television or radio news bulletins will be broadcast, news websites will not be updated and no newspapers or magazines will be published until Tuesday.

Greece avoided bankruptcy last year due to a three-year, euro110 billion bailout loan from eurozone countries and the International Monetary Fund. In exchange, the Socialist government cut pensions and salaries while increasing taxes and retirement ages, amid a recession and growing unemployment.

The measures have been met with frequent demonstrations and strikes by all sectors, from lawyers and doctors to bakers and port workers.

Wish our journalists would go on strike for a while. Perhaps they could just not come back.

I wish the Wisconsin, Ohio, Indiana Democrats would have just stayed away and stay there in Illinios and destroy the people left there and spare the rest. It’s fascinating how Gavin Newsom(LG-Ca.) and some Republicans—believe it or not—-are headed to Texas with head-scratching paws in hand to figure out how that state could produce in excess of 165K jobs while California lost 1.2M in the same time period. Now I know for sure there is not too much distiction between the 2 parties any longer, Gavin being ultra-liberal and all. California is still trying to go ahead with their new CA version of Cap-N-Trade which would alienate any business left here with extortionary regulations that essentially anyone doing businesses there would be castrated. But the legislature in California can‘t get a grip on reality and is now attempting to understand how Texan’s were able to glean some of those obtrusive rules an regulations to their benefit and I hope Texans give them mis-information so more CA businesses leaving the state with 3rd worlders so the democcrats can be elected forever. Unfortunately for those who can’t afford to leave or do not live in a gated community are screwed. It’ll be quite interseting to see Gov.Brown try to wiesle his way out of the mess he mostly help create 4 decades ago…..can’t blame a Republican for ever—-wait, we’re talking about drug soaked hippies and commmunist here.

Kinda off the path here , but have you ever noticed , in all the world that everyone that is protesing looks well fed? Have you ever seen a skinny muslim? A skinny Palistinian? A skinny Greek? A skinny public sector union worker?A skinny illegal imigrant? Just wondering. It kills me to hear about how bad they have it when I have a job, a family, pay taxes, and they all have 20 pounds on me for doing nothing. Life must be a terrible burden for the worthless.

Wouldn’t it be fantastic if all the MSM walked off the job for a couple of months and the government shut down at the same time? Wow…peace in our time.

    Let Greece burn. Really.

It’s time that socialist states pay their own way. The United States is being sucked down the drain by helping socialist states and our own Wisconsin socialist states and their unions.

You have to let Greece burn to the ground.

We must stop funding our own demise.

    We are now weaker.

    We will be even weaker.

They wait for you, when you’re on your knees.

    Fight now or fight later.

Recall your representatives if they go against the U.S. constitution.

Don’t wait for the next vote, cause the next vote.

The world has gone completely crazy. How can we possibly believe that we are “ intelligent and an advanced civilization”?
If it weren’t for the fact that it is the “globalists ” are orchestrating these events from there elitist perch’s like malevolent vulures poised to skewer a tasty bit of carrion, I just might believe their lies that man can not rule himself under GOD. But knowledge is power, and truth the ember burning within. For not all the rich are evil, and not all men are fools.
Great googly moogly, reporters striking, is to me like fleas not biting. The media, the fourth estate is so sold out to the elitist cause that they would descend to any place but truth for a biscuit from their masters hand. Foul, wretched purveyors of “ spun propaganda ”, may the fleas infest them and bite them as well for good senses sake.

Cry havoc, and lose the dogs of war.
Send sons and daughters till we have no more
Who then elite shall work your store
Not men of GOD, to him foreswore
These then brave, bold in Spirit
Elites conundrum, can not spear it
Three and one half, words shall burn
Three and one half, elite ends turn
One, yet a season and a time
Then seven to end this rhyme
    Word then show, a return
To him HIS, all others burn.

“How can we possibly believe that we are “ intelligent and an advanced civilization”?” we have iPhones, iPads, eMail, 57″ wide screen tv, wi fi, food in our grocery stores from foreign countries, in debt to our enemies (foreign governments), naked men who shoot robots with Russian guns, a president and senate that are bound and determined to bankrupt the country – how can we not be civilized?

The real irony is that Greeks are protesting their democratically-elected Socialist government. Democracy in action!

Gee, I guess socialism doesn’t fix things as permanently as its adherents have been telling us.

      @J.C. McGlynn

In some ways it does. But the old USSR had ‘democratic’ elections under a one-party system. A particular candidate for an office can be voted against (“democracy”) but not the Party.

Greece has multiple parties, where people have no fear of arrest if they try forming a new party. Most of the parties, though, are social democrats and center-left. The Greek Communist party also has many seats in their Parliament. In effect, Greece is a Socialist country that has free elections.

In Christian countries we see union members going on strike or engaging in sit downs to protest against the government….in Muslim countries they behead their leaders and abuse their women to protest against their government. I’d rather live in a Christian country with union workers.
