The Left Calls For Limbaugh’s Job… But What About Maher, Schultz, and Sharpton?

Yesterday, The Blaze featured a story from Daily Beast writer Kirsten Powers about the Left’s obvious myopia on misogyny from their own kind. That begs the question: Are they being selective in their calls for a firing? We have the video.

Consider this: The Weekly Standard’s John McCormack wonders if Obama will tell his super PAC to return Bill Maher’s million dollar donation after the HBO host has repeatedly called conservative women by words we cannot print here.  However, McCormack‘s point about Maher’s offensive joke at the expense of Rick Santorum’s wife is important and printable:

 He recently made a joke about Rick Santorum’s wife using a vibrator. Imagine now the same joke during the 2008 primary with Michelle Obama’s name in it, and tell me that he would still have a job.

The Weekly Standard writer reports that the White House has not responded to questions about returning Maher’s donation. And yet, the calls for Rush Limbaugh’s head are growing louder.

Despite issuing an apology for calling Georgetown Law student Sandra Fluke a “slut,” there is still a concerted effort to silence Limbaugh. Websites calling for his termination are popping up daily. Sponsors and stations that are part of Limbaugh’s empire are under attack.

Some have wondered where is the “equal justice” when it comes to controversial comments made by media personalities. CNN’s “Early Start” featured a rant from Ashleigh Banfield that shows the co-anchor cheering the loss of sponsors from Limbaugh’s program, but makes no mention of the frequent, inappropriate and vulgar characterizations of conservative women by many on the Left:

While Banfield did mention that lib-talker Ed Schultz also called her a “slut” in the past, there was no call for Schultz’s sponsors to pull their financial commitment to his show. (To be fair, Ashleigh Banfield has called out Bill Maher for some of his corrosive and insulting language, especially the vulgar words he has used to describe Sarah Palin.)

And last night on his MSNBC program, Ed Schultz paraded out his apology for calling Laura Ingraham a “slut” almost a year ago:

Did Schultz really self-punish after his tirade against Laura Ingraham? And what did he mean by restitution? His suspension was alleged to be a week without pay. How is a week without pay considered to be “restitution?”

The Left Wants Limbaughs Job

MSNBC agreed to let Schultz punish himself with his suggested one week time-out for saying the same word that Rush did.

Schultz’s channel-mate Al Sharpton also jumped on the bandwagon and called for Rush to be removed from the airwaves:

This is the same Al Sharpton who has a history of making offensive and insensitive statements and yet was still hired by MSNBC.  In 1994, Sharpton was speaking at Kean College and said:

“White folks was [sic] in caves while we was building empires…. We taught philosophy and astrology and mathematics before Socrates and them Greek homos ever got around to it.”

Sharpton is on tape calling Mayor Dinkins the “n-word,” he has also made comments about Asians and whites. And yet, his broadcasting career is untouched by any of these statements.

      I think that’s beside the point. This is America, a capitalistic country. The twenty or so advertisers who have dropped Limbaugh asked themselves a simple question: has this guy become so toxic that we can no longer afford to have our brand associated with him? Are we worse off or better off advertising on his program? Many are dumping him, having decided that’s the best way to maximize their profits. Where have I heard this story before?

      You have to love this country! No need to be upset. This is just business as they say, it’s nothing personal.

      Personally, I find sluts to be a good thing. We should thank her for all the sexual tension she helps relieve off angry men of the left. However, I still don’t want to pay for her contraception or abortions. Too bad she didn’t get aborted along with everyone else who thinks I ought to pay for their sexcapades.

      Since Ms Fluke does not appear to be pregnant and I keep hearing that 98% of women during child bearing years use the pill (does not prevent disease) I am having trouble seeing how women are finding it impossible to afford bc.By the way I would prefer not to have to pay for her std treatment in the future

Im sure some of the same sponsors who sponsored Rush also sponser them people and they didnt do a darn thing when they insulted conservative women.

      Actually, we are a socialist society.

      Capitalism is the private ownership of property with no regulation save what the private entity dictates for itself.

      Communism id the public ownership of property (IE government owned) and Government regulated.

      The in between is socialism. It is when property is owned either publicly of privately, but is regulated by the government.

      We have not had true free market capitalism in over 100 years.

      Wow, I didn‘t think I’d ever see you write something I’d agree with, but I do. Absolutely, each of these companies can decide whether or not they want to continue associating their business with Limbaugh or whoever they want. I don’t have a problem with companies pulling their ads if they feel Limbaugh or whoever else is expressing viewpoints they find objectionable. Time will tell whether it turns out to be a good business move or a bad one. Personally, I would expect that pulling ads from the largest radio market in the country would probably turn out to be a bad business move, but it’s their call.

      Look at it this way, did the US Constitution limit business in any way? No. The only thing that the federal government was able to due was raise taxes for the protect of the country. Just read Article 1 Section 8.

      As for Clause 3:
      To regulate Commerce with foreign Nations, and among the several States, and with the Indian Tribes.

      Many think this means to regulate as in dictate restrictions. But this was intended to regulate trade among the states which were to be run as autonomous entities. The issue is that taxation of one interstate trafficking of goods from one state to another could cause the goods to be more expensive once it arrives in market in another state in the “Union”. IE Georgia would need to pass cotton through the Carolinas in order to trade with Virginia. Each state the item passed through could impose a tax which would hinder the price of a product when it arrived in Virginia. The Clause is to prevent South Carolina or North Carolina from taxing cotton from Georgia to gain an advantage from sales in other states.

      So regulation (as according to the Constitution) was only on the interstate trade, not on the manufacturing of a product there of. The progressives like to play with the wording to give the Federal Government b a broad power base. If this was correct, why does each state have it’s own Department of Health… Here in Georgia, the codes depend on county to county, even if the item would be sold in Tennessee. The Federal Government has no power in regulating anything save it interferes with interstate commerce (or the trade between states). The product may be sub-par, but that was the buyer’s responsibility to distinguish.

Just cut up Sears credit cards that I’v had for 40 years. I will take care of Legal Zoom tomorrow and will be installing new double pain windows this summer – will not be Thompson Creek brand. If all folks hit these sponsers in the pocket book it will get their arrention. I don’t like Bauchman but where were they when she was being callled Whore.

      I know exactly what Rush meant when he called Sandra a slut. We all do. Even liberals. But it does not matter what the context of his remarks were. Liberals are only looking for any words (by conservatives) that will fit their narrative of old, white, mean, prejudice, women hating, founding father loving white men so they can feed their sheeple hate of everything conservative. We lose because they have a willing media to promote and amplify this image. In addition to playing offence. We all need to read Saul Alinsky’s “book for radicals”. Their strategy is spelled out in this book. And they are kicking our asses with it. We need to know what’s in it. And begin fighting fire with fire. We must stop giving them ammo and start giving them hell. If not these liberals are going to discredit conservatism then destroy our constitution and the country.

      I stand with Rush, a real American. We all know he will broadcast–advertisers or not. However, there are real American companies who know that the liberals (although they have extremely loud voices) are the minority and don’t part with the money they have skimmed from the US taxpayer (oh and BTW–the capitalism that funded their trust funds). So to the unAmerican businesses who followed the liberal money. Lots o’ luck staying in business.

    First of all not sure if you‘re aware but Obama can’t have “coordinated directly” with the PAC. Secondly, once again this is being framed as a comparison of apples to apples, which it is not. While LImbaugh’s “unfortunate choice of words” characterizing Ms. Fluke as a “slut” and a “prostitute” is by most standards “inappropriate” the more likely scenario for this clamor is Limbaugh’s fetid, indecent request for video of Ms. Fluke‘s sexual encounters and all the sugar coating and misdirection isn’t likely to help even the most adored carnival barker.

      Try to keep up woodrowsux, Bill Maher claims to be a comedian and generally that’s how he makes his living, by touring and doing shows, of which he has one on subscription cable, corporate sponsorship doesn’t play a huge roll, people who choose to sample his “comic stylings” do so of their own free will. Rush Limbaugh is the self proclaimed conscience of the right, he broadcasts his show on public airwaves and the production of his show utilizes advertising to subsidize production costs, these advertisers have this thing called free association, that means if they as an institution have a problem with what the host of the infotainment program they advertise on says, they can take their business elsewhere. Does that help?

      At the beginning of Rush’s show yesterday he pointed out that all these former sponsors are doing is cutting themselves off from his 20 million weekly listeners. I’m sure that many if not all will face some financial blow back from their decisions.

      I am comparing the liberals to one of my favorite movies with Burt Reynolds,Dom Deluise,Sally Fields, called “The End”. Burt’s character is dying and great comedy etc. and towards the end of the movie, he decides to end it all his way and swims far out away from shore, sinking himself and then wants to live because of flashbacks of his family etc., so here he is far-away from shore and he starts swimming back and then this is when it gets “hilarious” he is trying “to make a deal with the Lord” and the deals & the manipulation of his words….it is good comedy..he makes it back & then he is chased by the character of Dom D..trying to finish him off with a knife because he thinks Burt can’t do it so he is going to help him out. The Point? Liberals sometimes think there is a God & just about the time they are seeing the light, some other liberal chases them with a knife & a warning to get back in line. After I read this post, it is pretty stupid…or well “stupid is as stupid does”. Have a great day everyone! LOL
