The Nation Editor Rants — ‘Screw The Polls’

Katrina vanden Heuvel of The Nation was asked by Morning Joe’s Mika Brzezinski if she thought President Obama was alienating his base by the perceived move to the middle indicated in the recent SOTU address.  Ms. vanden Heuvel’s response bounced around like a “bb in a boxcar.”

    What leftists do is conflate their ideas with what is possible. I think we should leave Social Security and Medicare alone. I also think every little girl should have a pony, and every little boy a go-cart. I think we should all live in 5 bedroom mansions, have a half acre to ourselves, be able to eat out every night, buy a new car every two years, take 4 week vacations, and never incur any debt. We should all be trim no matter how much we eat, emotionally satisfied, and love our jobs.

    This is not the world we live in. Plans do not get to start from any place but reality. This is the fundamental difference between the adults and the children. She is unwilling to accept any rational limits on what is possible. She is unwilling to admit that the national credit card has a limit, and–empirically–that government jobs are not real jobs, do not create sustainable revenue, and in fact lead to economic decline.

    Whatever her self image, when you see grinding poverty, educational failure, and widespread pessimism, it is her policies that led us there.

      That is the part that stood out the most to me as well.

      And by saying screw the polls, she is admitting she doesn’t care what the majority of people think. That’s odd since isn’t the left always calling our republic a democracy.
      This is along the same lines as Bill Maher (and others) who think some few elitists should rule, and shove everything down the people’s throats.

      The exciting verbal exchanges between vanden Huevel and Huffington have been breathtakingly captured on film…..I refer you to any “Godzilla vs. Mothra”, “Godzilla vs. Mega-Godzilla”, “Godzilla vs. Mike Tyson” films…..I’m not for sure who-is-who in the films, but they are certainly exciting. I believe that Micheal Moore directed a few of them…..from Cuba.

    More interesting is that “Morning Joe” is flip-flopping all over the place on whether Pres “O” is “his” president or “your” president. This AM, from start to finish was MORE than interesting. His co-host, Mikka, was appalled at much of what he said today! (I watch to find out what the “other side” is talking about, especially from 6:00 to 7:00 when no one else is watching and they say what they really feel!)

      That entire show is the most “confused” program on all of TV. They all try to act so intellectual and tolerant but it all quickly evaporates when someone challenges them on their core beliefs. Progressives are so much better at attacking a person’s Conservative principles than defending their own ideaology.

    “The Corporate Meida”? The left is so confused . . . they used polls for the past decade, and now one of the “elites” of the left doesn’t like the polls so “screw the polls”. The left is irrelevant to solving the problems we face as a nation.

    What we need to do is . . ..
    1. Defend the right of women to be leaders in the political landscape.
    2. Put pressure on the pundits that are being unprofessional, disrespectful name callers when
    they attack Tea Party Conservatives.
    3. Hold all politicians accountable for what happens to spending now that we know we are broke
    due to the wreckless and foolish behavior of our elected bodies.
    4 Have fun ripping the left for their hypocritical and uncivil behaviors.

    Finally – boycott Nevada as long as Harry Reid refuses to allow a vote on ObamaCare.

      So her point on Afghanistan is that the majority of American people want out of the war, and regardless of what the polls say, the polls don’t matter and she is right because she says so.

      One thing I love about the Blaze is that there is no talking over each other like in this clip. I’m really losing patience with the democrats that I talk to, it seems I can never finish a thought before they start talking over the top of the conversation. No wonder they never learn anything.

      Why aren’t people listening to our moderate president. Bullet trains are a great idea. Just take a look at how well Amtrak has been managed. It is a shinning example of what government can do with our daily earnings. This lady is just frustrated that other Americans can’t see the obvious successes like Amtrak, The postal service, Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, The borders, Vietnam, Homeland security. I could go on and on. Why wouldn’t everyone turn over every aspect of their lives to the success that is our Federal Government?

      They can’t admit that their side makes up 10% of the country, yet conservatives and moderate conservatives make up 90%. They want us to think half the country follow their ideology, yet time and time again polls show (and conversations with neighbors, co-workers, friends, family, random people in line at the grocery store) that people are conservative by nature.       Typical Progressive hack….if the polls seem to support the Progressive agenda (Iraq/Afghanistan wars, Social Security, etc.) then THOSE polls are relevant….they represent the undisputed will of the American people. If the polls do not support the Progressive agenda (Obamacare, reduced Federal spending, social issues) then “screw the polls!”. Katrina vanden Struedel believes herself to be one of the few “purist” journalist in the country. All others have been “corporatized”. “The Nation” is just a Communist propoganda rag…..always has been and always will be. She is always very careful not to reveal that fact. Maybe she has been “compromised”…..let’s see what the polls say about it…..
