The New Tea Party Magazine (And the Comic Strip Creator Who Edits it)

Tea Partiers found out today that one of their own (Rep. Allen West) will deliver the keynote address at the annual CPAC gathering this weekend. It turns out, they’ll also be getting their own magazine there.
The Tea Party Review magazine will debut at the weekend’s conference, and it’s being billed as “a place to develop plans for taking our country back from the elitist, arrogant, obnoxious, corrupt members of the Washington establishment and their friends in Hollywood, the news media, faculty lounges, and on Wall Street.”
The magazine’s website gives a glimpse of what subscribers will find inside:
- Complete coverage of the 2012 presidential campaign.
- How are leading candidates reaching out to Tea Partiers?
- Who deserves Tea Party support?
- The ultimate rundown on political corruption in America. If you didn’t see it all in one place, you’d never believe it!
- Washington’s War on the American Family.
- Cartoons from the creators of “The Gentleman from Lickskillet”… and other satire aimed at Big Government and Obama’s “Ruling Class.”
“This magazine is a response to demands from tea party members across the country for a magazine that we can call our own,” Katrina Pierson, a member of the Dallas Tea Party and the magazine’s national grass-roots director, told Roll Call. “People are weary of the distorted version of the tea party movement that we see in most of the media. Tea party members want a magazine for the movement, created by members of the movement and reflecting the values of the movement.”
The magazine’s editor is Steven Allen, who the website says has “37 years’ experience as a journalist, as a radio news director, newspaper reporter and columnist, and magazine editor.”
But his most interesting resume element might be his most creative: he’s the brain behind the conservative political comic strip, “The Gentleman from Lickskillet.” The satirical strip, which debuted in 2009, is now defunct. But during its run, it featured fictitious Congressman Randall Dill and his experiences in Washington, D.C.:
Pierson told Roll Call the first issue of the magazine will feature a comic “about a tea party Congressman dealing with the Red Chinese,” although it’s unclear if the strip will be a resurrection of “The Gentleman from Lickskillet.”
Allen holds both law and Ph.D. degrees, and served as press secretary to former Sen. Jeremiah Denton (R-AL).
The reaction thus far has been mixed. Mediate says since the magazine does not endorse one particular Tea Party group, “it’ll be interesting to see if the disparate Tea Partiers can unite behind one media force,” while the Washington Post questioned a magazine spokesperson’s decision to invoke the name of other great movements (such as the abolitionist one) in describing the need for a publication.
The magazine’s website (which will be retooled on Thursday) says the magazine will publish monthly, and will cost $7.50/month or $34.95/year.

THAT rag is his MOST INTERESTING resume element?!!!…wow with talent like that in the opposition, we socialist Progressives really have our work cut out for us! (LAWL, not)–that’s not even realistically funny satire–George W. Bush quantifiable violated the Constitution more times than Obama has yet. And while I grant that Obama has continued some violations such as wire-tapping, prisoner abuse, and suspension of “habeas corpus” of “enemy combatants,” begun under the auspices of W’s administration, but he hasn’t directly ignored Supreme Court interpretations of the Constitution like Andrew Jackson, Abe Lincoln, Nixon, George W…or all the southern governors who refused to integrate during the 60‘s and 70’s…nor does it really offer any normative evidence to evaluate whether such violation is an example of a desirable and necessary violation, as I would argue Lincoln’s was, if not positively necessary was certainly justified–I like the Union, and think violating its Constitution was an acceptable trade off for its preservation.

Posted on February 10, 2011 at 12:09pmSo Obama continuing to enforce Obamacare after it is struck down…oh you couched that with “supreme court”…..
So how about these: taking over banking, healthcare, and trying to regulate an INVISIBLE gas?
After all, you, the admitted socialist should appreciate Vlad Lenin stating that “medicine is the keystone arch of socialism.”
Where in the constitution are those authorities? The commerce clause does NOT mean unlimited power for people of your leanings to tell people how to live. The progressives scream and bitch about gay marriage, do everything they can to ignore the clear will of the people, then blatantly violate the second, ninth, and tenth amendments, all the while lying and saying, well its OK, because Bush violated the 4th.
WAY TO GO ENLIGHTENED RANCHERS!!!

Unless their handlers have a similar story for them to cut and paste here, there is nothing but personal attacks. They should be thankfull there are things such as comic books so they can look at the pictures and understand, instead of having to go cut and paste.

Christians & Jews (SLAVES 75AD)
Egypt was incorporated into the Roman Empire in 30 BC. Egyptians used JEWISH SLAVES to build their Pyramids. Romans also used JEWISH SLAVES to build their Coliseums, which in turn they used as a weekly sport by feeding CHRISTIAN SLAVES to the Lions. Guess who’s fuelling the global ‘Socialist’ movement against Christians and Jews.

Posted on February 9, 2011 at 5:13pmI was thinking the same thing. The TP needs some organization, but the major work is the grassroots efforts that take place in the towns, cities, and neighborhoods to get “We the People” to organize locally and go out and vote. Will take a look at the magazine. As another poster posted: a list of how the House and Senate members vote is worth the price of the magazine.

Posted on February 9, 2011 at 3:39pmListen the Old Guard Republicans do take us seriously. Why do you think Bill Crystal has attacked Glenn Beck. Someone pointed out on Hannity’s Panel that 4 out of 10 votes cast last November were Tea Partier votes. That’s more than the 30 something % of Republicans and more than the 25 or so % of Democrats. That’s 40%! They know we have the upper hand except in states like Maryland and Alaska.
We need something in print that shows the racial diversity of the Tea Party movement they can’t dismiss. Also Jesse Jackson admitted to Hannity on his radio program that the Tea Party IS NOT racist. The old Guard KNOW they have lost thier grip and fear the strength of the grassroots because we can’t be manipulated and KNOW thier GAMES.
The focus group from Iowa made it clear we want the new faces of Tea Party Conservatism and the Tea Party agenda for 2012. No more of the old ‘who’s next in line after paying the Old Guard dues’. No more OG hacks! There are plenty of new very strong conservative Constitutional supporters to pick from.

Posted on February 9, 2011 at 3:28pmUhhhmmmm who put this guy in charge?
The TEA Party (take note of proper spelling) should not be officially organized into a political entity. If it is, the radical left as well as those on the right will put their crosshairs on it. It will no longer be left or right at fault.. they both will point to the TP as its “their fault for pushing this agenda or that agenda”, “its their fault for electing this person or that person”…. follow where I am going. I think this maybe a bad idea.
TP people you need to maintain your ideology not become something that can “be touched”. Similar to what STR is about, which I tried to express or demonstrate in this short vid. http://video.yahoo.com/watch/6727297/17491774
TP you are an “idea” and you need to stay that way.
