The Next Ann Coulter? 20-Year-Old Pundit’s Blog Exposing Welfare Abuse Is a Hit

(The Blaze/AP) — A 20-year-old college student has developed a following and gotten at least five marriage proposals after writing a column about her experiences with welfare recipients as a Wal-Mart cashier. She says she wants to be the next Ann Coulter.
Christine Rousselle, who attends Providence College in Rhode Island, wrote on the website The College Conservative about her experiences working as a teenager at a Wal-Mart store in her hometown of Scarborough, Maine.
In the column this week, Rousselle described customers using welfare money to buy toys, lobsters and jewelry, and welfare recipients yakking on expensive iPhones. She suggested that a hot dog stand operator used food stamps to supply his business.
A man who ran a hotdog stand on the pier in Portland, Maine used to come through my line. He would always discuss his hotdog stand and encourage me to “come visit him for lunch some day.” What would he buy? Hotdogs, buns, mustard, ketchup, etc. How would he pay for it? Food stamps. Either that man really likes hotdogs, or the state is paying for his business. Not okay.
She came to a startling realization after a Massachusetts customer showed her a welfare card with former Massachusetts Gov. Michael Dukakis’ signature. That meant the man had been on welfare as long as Rousselle had lived, since she was born in 1991, the same year Dukakis’ last term ended.
Readers have left more than 2,000 comments and shared it thousands of times on Facebook.
Rousselle told the Bangor Daily News (http://bit.ly/vqDBud) that her former Wal-Mart co-workers largely have applauded her for pointing out what has frustrated them for years.
But she’s also received some negative feedback, something the political science major will need to get uses to if she makes a profession out of her commentary.
“I’m having the time of my life,” Rousselle said. “I would love to do this full-time. My dream job is to be Ann Coulter.”

Posted on December 16, 2011 at 10:16pmWe all know that the poor are lazy, cheating, drug addicted bums. Jesus Christ himself said that the poor are the worthless dregs of society, but He said also you should give them a coin every now and then on the off chance that they’ll break their drug addicted ways. It’s true, believe it or not, but Christ did want the money holders to give some money to the poor. Whatever, he was probably joking, or maybe he said that in a moment of empathetic weakness. It doesn’t matter.
Republicans understand the words of God Almighty! Praise God! Jesus spoke often how the rich on earth will obtain even more riches in Heaven. In Christs words, “As on earth the rich rule all things, and the poor giveth the little they have to make the rich ever richer, so shall it it be in Heaven. It is the natural order.” Look it up if you don’t believe me! Praise God! You just have to love God!

JZS thinks all repub believe those ridiculous ideas, ok, well actually, he doesn’t, but that is what he has been reduced to. He knows the majority of the country has overwhelminingly opposed every major piece of legislation BO has gotten passed. So like many people who are insecure, he bashes people who oppose his ideas to make himself feel better.
What actually is sad is he knows he is being dishonest. Like when a teenager comes home smelling of smoke and gets questioned by the parents, then says something like “oh yea mom, I leave the house and I chain smoke because I want to kill myself…yea that’s what I do”
The mom and the son both know he’s been smoking, but that is really the only option the desperate teen has. Its the same ole scam JZS is pulling. He knows a portion of the poor are takers with no desire to earn for themselves. But since admitting that is counter-productive, he acts like “oh yea, every poor deserves being poor, there worthless, lazy and stupid…” as to assign those ideas to those who oppose him, and on it goes.
That’s why he twists the words of the Bible, the book he otherwise finds useless, to suit his purpose. Any other time he rejects the Bible as irrelevant.
So in all we know he can’t stand on his own credibility. So as rules for radicals say, he has to try to make us live up to our standards. That’s the only last desperate trick he has. By the way, his distortions will only get worse the closer we get to elections.

Although JZS knows the right is more compassionate and charitable, he has see the studies, and knows the left is only charitable with other peoples money and mostly cheapskates when it come to doling out their own funds. However, that is also counter-productive to his agenda.

Posted on December 17, 2011 at 12:16am@JZS: Jesus said to help those in need, not those who feel entitled. There is a difference between someone who pathologically abuses the system and those who truly have needs, cut back as much as possible, do whatever they can and still need a hand up but do not desire to stay on welfare. I have an inkling that Jesus would say the same thing to welfare abusers as He did to the religious leaders and the pharisees that took advantage of the poor. In a matter of words: Greed is greed. I’m also pretty sure that God would be ok with us not enabling a group of individuals content to remain as suckling infants when they could very well learn to help themselves and use what they have more wisely. Men and woman have made something of themselves out of very little for millennia.
I can hear your counter argument now: Who are you to say what God would say? My response: I am only reiterating what I have read and understood in scripture, aka the book God gave us as a way for us to know more about His character and heart (since we can never fully comprehend God).
Next response you may/may not have: I don’t believe that the Bible is infallible. It was written by men.
My response: My point is still valid.

Posted on December 17, 2011 at 9:59amAbby, you don’t get around here much do you? I’ll tell you what offend me. The very people who expressed sympathy for the people you mention – and I also know individual both that are physically disabled and mentally disabled – are the very ones who would vote for candidates who promise to eliminate the very services that keep your friends alive and living, I hope, with some measure of dignity. Hang around and you’ll see. After this thread has passed, they will go back to their normal assertion that anyone recieving benefit from the government is an underserving bum.
What is revolting to me is those people, who call themselves Christians, who would deny your friends, and any of the poor, and children, a decent meal and housing. In the view of these Christians, government policy should be based on helping the rich rather than the average American. In their view, Christ taught that it is theft to tax people to support the poorest among us. And they would claim your friends should be dependent on their local church to pay for the surgeries, mental health treatment, and housing and food that your friends, through no fault of their own, need to scrape by. But we all know how that would work out don’t we?
Nice try fellows. I appreciate your heartfelt hypocrisy and your fake support for government help for the needy, which, outside this thread, you would deny Americans.

But, it also states that the LAZY will go to Hell. Since your knowledge of actual conservative principles are lacking, let me fill you in. Conservatives want to help those who can’t help themselves, not those who won’t. It really is as simple as that.
I have a close family friend who is employed by the government in the MHMR ( mental health mental retardation) assistance program. Long story short is, each department receives government funding based off the amount of people with disabilities they service. All it takes go get a SSI check is to bring your 3 year old to the MHMR government doctor to get diagnosed bi-pilor, scitsofrenic etc. Since it is in the doctors best interest to have a large patient clientele, they will most likely be diagnosed with some illness, ill or not. My friend went to upper management with her concerns when they let her know weeding out the leeches would only result in less funding the their office.
The point is, some need assistance and some do not. Anyone saying every recipient is a leech or every recipient is in need is not accurate. Let‘s help those who can’t help themselves and let the actual lazy fend for themselves.

Thanks for the kind words but your giving me a little to much credit, my post just highlight the ideas are founders already put forth. Since you have already identified the trolls, read their posts and compare them to our founders quotes. Take JZS for instance, almost every principle he a advocates for were rebuked by our founders. Mischaracterizing the argument is really all he can do short of admitting the truth, which is not gonna happen. If you haven’t already, read Rules for Radicals. You will see every post JZS and other libs make are straight out of that playbook. Here are a couple quotes by our founders over this issue.
“To take from one, because it is thought his own industry and that of his fathers has acquired too much, in order to spare to others, who, or whose fathers, have not exercised equal industry and skill, is to violate arbitrarily the first principle of association, the guarantee to everyone the free exercise of his industry and the fruits acquired by it.” — Thomas Jefferson
“I predict future happiness for Americans if they can prevent the government from wasting the labors of the people under the pretense of taking care of them.” — Thomas Jefferson
“I am for doing good to the poor, but I differ in opinion of the means. I think the best way of doing good to the poor, is not making them easy in poverty, but leading or driving them out of it.” — Benjamin Franklin

Posted on December 17, 2011 at 3:07pmSpeckchaser, you seem to be making the case that the undeserving should not get government help, but that we, as a country, should support those who cannot fend for themselves. I didn’t realize there was a controversy about that, except of course the one the right invents to justify cutting social services to the poor and helpless. You go on, as is typical here, to give an apocryphal example of a friend who knows somebody cheating the system, including the ridiculous idea that anyone at all can simply walk into MHMR and get their three year old diagnosed with a fake condition for free. I guess you needed to counterbalance Abby’s description of individuals in need with a few cheaters, and the ludicrous idea that liberals support people cheating the system, which is kind of silly don’t you think (nice quotes though).
And you conclude by saying some need help, some don’t. Like it’s more or less a 50/50 proposition.
The Republican agenda is simple. Cut social services, Medicare and Medicaid and any program that mostly benefits the poor, so that we can cut taxes on the rich, subsidize the oil industry (which is making record profits) and make sure no American has to pay taxes on their personal jet. I’m surprised you will even admit that there are even “some” who deserve help from the government. That’s a first on this website! I guess I’m making progress.

And I paused, and said to my listeners, “Who does that remind me of?” I rubbed my chin and gazed thoughtfully at the floor as everyone waited in anticipation. After long hesitation I said to my enthralled audience I said, “Oh, yeah. Billy. Ya think? Posted on December 16, 2011 at 9:18pmNo, the reason we have this program is to keep people down. Liberals look down on anyone not white and anyone with a bloodline not to their standard. Planned parenthood was started to kill blacks and the “unwanted”. Democrats were the south in the civil war. Progressives were followers of Hitler or he was a follower of theirs. Democrats stood in the way of equal rights for blacks before and up to the civil rights movement. After desegregation democrats were the ones fighting letting blacks go to college and drink from the same places as whites. After liberals lost the civil rights fight they decided to corrupt the black culture. With the liberal media they made fools and criminals the black idols. Said it was white of blacks to do well in school, and told them that talking to the cops was being a snitch. So they do poor in school and their neighborhoods are over ran with crime. They then set up welfare were the more kids you have the more you get paid but if you get married and have a man around you get paid less. No matter how rich a black man gets he still has to be a thug or he is considered white or a wuss. They tell the schools that blacks speaking bad english is their culture and not to try to correct it, so no one wants to hire them at a real job. If you speak correctly then your acting white. Liberals trying to keep them poor and stupid. Conservatives say the only difference between whites, blacks, browns, reds is skin pigmentation other then that we are the same.
Report Post »CptStubbing
Posted on December 17, 2011 at 5:00amActually the main reason we have these programs is because of Keynesian economics. Poor people don’t save money, so when they go out and spend the money they receive from the government it helps economic growth. It was never about philanthropy or caring about race. Why do you think they let these kind of things go on? It doesn’t matter to them if people are cheating the system. They need the money to be spent. That’s also why a lot of rich people support democratic causes. They take money from rich people give it to poor people who will turn around and spend that money to help perpetuate the cycle of growth. The extremely rich don‘t mind so much because it doesn’t hurt them that much and it really benefits them. In a Keynesian society they actually need the poor people to stay poor in order to give them the money to propel economic growth. If poor people start pulling themselves out of poverty and begin to save money it hurts the economy. It’s actually pretty %#$#ed up, what they do to people.

Posted on December 16, 2011 at 8:31pmMy family and myself are on welfare. I can accept that many people on welfare blow their money once they receive the money. A very few really appreciate the money we receive for food, pay the bills and rent, and items to buy for ourselves. What we need to do is make welfare for efficient for use and screen people who abuse welfare. What may be shocking to many conservatives critical about welfare my parents are as conservative as it gets and I‘m more critical of living on welfare and I’m very liberal. Everyone comes from different walks in life and there are number of reasons why even though I hate being on welfare I‘m thankful and hate to see people abuse the system and others look at us like we’re looking for a cheap way in life. Life is difficult but we’re thankful for everyday.
