O’Donnell Win Triggers Fight on the Right

Christine O‘Donnell’s win in Delaware last night caused a ruckus within the Republican Party. It’s become a political soap opera of sorts, with some major stars cast in leading roles.

It all started last night with Karl Rove throwing O’Donnell under the establishment bus. “I’ve met her. I gotta tell you, I wasn’t frankly impressed [at] her abilities as a candidate,” he told Sean Hannity:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4Jlh1EsgS7Q&feature=player_embedded

Not to be outdone, this morning O’Donnell fired back, mocking Rove as the “so-called political guru that predicted I wasn’t going to win”:

But Rove would not stand for such low blows, and went on Fox News to defend his honor. He even managed to raise questions about O‘Donnell’s financial history and integrity while complimenting her on the win:

And finally, Rush Limbaugh joined the fray this morning when he went on a shame-on-you rant against Rove: “If he had just gotten this mad at Democrats during the Bush administration, why who knows how things would be different today.” Needless to say, Rush wasn‘t happy with Rove’s attacks on O’Donnell:

All the infighting didn’t go unnoticed by Democrats. The back-and-forth even made news during today’s press briefing, with Press Secretary Robert Gibbs using the controversy to downplay O‘Donnell’s chances in November:

I think if you look at what people like Karl Rove or people like the state GOP chairman have said, the Republicans in Delaware nominated somebody that they don’t believe can win, I think in the words of the state party chair, couldn’t be elected dog catcher.

UPDATE:

So as not to overlook the entire cast of supporting characters, you should know that O‘Donnell supporter Sarah Palin weighed in on Rove’s comments last night too: “We love our friends there in the machine … but my message to those who say that the GOP nominee is not electable … [is] buck up.”

We the People of the Tea Party have not become activated only to become pawns of the GOP. Yes, we strongly oppose the policies and agenda of the “progressives” (socialists), but we will no longer tolerate condescension from either party. We will no longer accept the “shut up, we know better than you” attitude from either party. We will no longer tolerate being ignored, or treated like unruly children. We will not sit down and shut up, and we’re not going to go away.

Message to the GOP: No more business as usual. We will no longer be content to accept whatever you offer us. We will choose our own representatives, those who will truly represent OUR interests, rather than those of the party bosses. That is how our representatives were intended to be elected. You can either accept and embrace us, or try to make do without us.

It sounds like Karl Rove and a lot of the Male republicans are chauvnostic PIGS, I think since there are so many WOMEN winning in the elections they are starting to run scared, as they will have to mind there manners now, the true gentleman won’t have to but the others will. Stand up for your party or your values and principals.Lets restore america.. One other point Rove wants to say she has a little shady back ground, but let us not forget we are human… Look at one example his name is Rangel up on ethic charges but gets re elected… what wrong with some of these people… Hey Rove what say you about this??? Karl Rove is a smart man – most of the time. He’s a Republican, first and foremost. Like Newt in NY, his focus is on getting chairmanships back for Republicans, even if that means supporting RINOs because he thinks they have the best chance to win. Like most establishment Republicans, though, his focus is more on the position of being in the majority than having the principled conservative Republicans in office to do some real good for the nation. He saw Castle as a step towards that majority position. He is happy with a Republican Party full of RINOs as a consequence. Certainly not his first choice, but he likes being on the team in the majority.

Maybe he’s a realist, but many of us out here have learned that being in the majority with unprincipled or Progressive Republicans is not an improvement. We need to act like Democrats in this one regard; we need to focus on long-term movement of the party back to the right, both outside politics and inside politics with the people we elect. The reality is that until we have 60 conservative Republicans in the Senate, the majority will continue to be held hostage by Progressives from both parties. And every time we elect another RINO to office, we provide the left with another means to blur the lines between Democrats and Republicans.

NO MORE RINOS – under any circumstances. If we can’t find and elect conservatives to define the part in government, then what’s the point?

Preach it brother! PREACH IT!!! LOL!

Absolutely correct. It’s the Progressives we need to combat. They are in both parties. The Republican Party is far from a sanctuary. I don’t have enough background on her to know if she will be another Scott Brown, but if nothing else in this election, we need to make our power and presence known. They need a healthy reminder that they do still work for us. And every moment of ever day, they need to operate with full knowledge that politics as usual is OVER! And those still in office that can’t adapt to that will be out. Like I’ve said before in other mediums, I’d rather vote for the guy/gal that needs to go to the book store and get a map TO EVEN FIND WASHINGTON DC, than someone that’s going to continue to work to kill our great nation.

It‘s BECAUSE she’s new to politics that the people of DE voted her in! So, she got behind in her bills…who hasn’t? And she did finish college, just hadn’t finished paying $4000 toward her tuition…there are tens of thousands of people out there who owe tens of thousands of dollars each for student loans…her pay’t seemed to be directly to the university itself, not another loan shark. So she must not have had a loan! Fell behind in her mortgage pay’ts? Since when was this a criminal offense? The woman obviously has not had a Trust Fund backing her up all her life like Ted Kennedy, etc. The important issue here is to get the new conservatives elected, and for them all to immediately join the Tea Party Caucus formed by Michelle Bachmann.

This is exactly the reason why “We The People” want change, new faces, term limits, no more career politicians, etc.

Who knows the truth anymore? If the truth hurts, it hurts. I still want to know as much as I can. I have pulled my head out of the sand and can take a punch to my party now and feel shameful that personal feelings determine the bantor instead of the needs of the nation. With more and more folks looking toward the truth, we will hold politicians accountabe. If they don’t work out, we’ll throw them back and go fishing again. We won’t let the smell linger and let it permeate the government term after term after term. I‘m giving those that state the consertative principles a chance because I don’t know their heart. I won‘t love you or I won’t hate you — but I will watch you. One false move away from the principles that this nation once stood – and I will do all I can to set you at the side of the curb. A shaking isn’t bad every once in awhile — to keep us on principle lines instead of going back to faulty party lines.

Instead of saying “Ok lets all join forces and win this November” they are turning their backs on the person the People of Delaware elected. The RNC just fails to hear us, even though we keep speaking louder and clearer. We are SO TIRED of the establishment of elites that constantly throw We the People under the bus. We are awake, we are informed, and we WILL not vote for anothe RHINO!

Don’t feed the trolls. More time is spent on addressing stupid comments than the articles.

@Povertywithaview: Well said. I’d rather have common sense than book smarts. Stephen Hawking comes to mind.

@Nancy: Kinda reminds me of last spring when congress/white house continually ignored us regarding health care. We kept saying “NO” and they kept not listening. It’s why they were targeted first and now the REPs are in the same boat.

Listen up Washington: YOUR DAYS ARE DONE

O’Donnell is getting huge amounts of free publicity over this. Watch this gap in the poles between her and the Dem start to shrink.

I still remember the failures of the Bush administration and the Republican majority congress. Rove was a big part of that failure. Instead of shrinking the size of government when they had the chance they went on a spending spree of their own. Time to clean both houses.

Hey DINGLEBALLS I mean DANGLINBAGS, Gibbs wouldn’t make a pimple on Bathtub Boys butt and Rove plays a close second. Liberals get ready to find a real job, especially after that great announcement the DINO’s came out with today, you steal a pizza logo for the new DINO logo and claim real change. Look all I want is for you Socialist to do is Change it Back.

Maybe now Karl Rove and the other well established Republican Establishment understand what it is like not to be listened too.
Maybe now they will see (I doubt it though) that we have not been able to support who they have chosen for us to vote for election, after election, after election. I mean, come on; Senator John McCain? As Ronald Regan taught us; conservative ALWAYS wins on the issues. Not the fence jumper. I always wondered who was giving GW the bad advice while he was in office, now I know.
