Dennis Kucinich Gives Wacky Interview: Performs Ventriloquism Act

Dennis Kucinich Gives Wacky Interview: Performs Ventriloquism ActI haven’t laughed this hard all week. In fact, I’m still laughing. And I will continue doing so because I’m going to keep playing this clip over and over again. What’s so funny? Rep. Dennis Kucinich (D-OH) appeared in a Daily Show interview last night. And while not much from the Daily show surprises me anymore, this did: Kucinich performed his secret talent — ventriloquism.

The interview — done in the irreverent Daily Show format — has several “bonus” features. Not only do you get to see Kucinich play with a puppet, but you also get to see interviewer John Oliver confront the Rep. on why his wife is so much more attractive, as well as ask the local GOP chairman how the heck Kucinich keeps getting elected. You also learn Kucinish is still trying to get his “Department of Peace” approved. Oh, and there’s an accusation of Kucinich being a droid.

Politico chronicles just some of the weirdness:

Kucinich had his hand puppet sing “God Bless America,” and the weirdness of it all prompted Oliver to ask, “How do you keep winning elections?”

“You’re going to have to ask Dennis,” said Kucinich, via his puppet.

You’re going to have to see for yourself:

I can tell you who keeps electing this jerk.the people tht believe his lies. A hopital was closing in Cleveland. Ole Dennis got on camera and told the people of cleveland that he was going t SAVE this hospital. He did..it stayed open for 3 more months. But the media NEVER told the public that the hospital did close. Also, NASA…730 jobs…400 hundred of those jobs were eliminated or transferred out of state. So Dennis gets on TV and tells the people HE SAVED 330 jobs. And the people believe him. The 330 jobs were never on the chopping block. Hugo Boss was going to close…Dennis gets in the fray…did NOTHING…Peter Corrigan gets on a plane…flies to Germany and talks to the the CEO and union reps..gives them a plan on how to keep Hugo Boss from closing. The plan was implimented and Dennis takes credit. And this is how he gets re-elected…tells everyone he is for the Working Man…(commie phrase) and people believe his lies….

You have him pegged correctly….Peter Corrigan was a breath of fresh air compared to him and the Democratic corruption in Cuyahoga County. You are right on the money about Dennis….he always shows up for the photo op being the “champion for the working class”

Unfortunately, I am one of those people in his district (and have never voted for him) and he can thank gerrymandering for his elections……last year we came close to getting him out. We can only hope redistricting will do it this time.

I don’t buy your claim of gerrymandering. His district is almost completely surrounded by other districts that also have Democratic representatives. It appears to be a predominantly Democratic area, in which it would require more gerrymandering to make him lose than to make him win.

While this was amusing it also continues the trend of fake news bluring reality and fiction. What does it say about politicians who make a mockery of themselves and their office by participating on this show? Is everything just a potential joke to members of Congress? I can understand the motivations of the people at the Daily Show. This is their real job, but I expect more dignity from out elected representatives.

I know. I know! What world did I think I was living in? Dignity from Congressmen? Oh well. Pour me another double scotch, and not the cheap stuff.

If they didn’t, you could chalk it up to one more example of being above the people and reaking of elitism. Clearly he was in on the joke and it takes confidence for self deprecating humor, I’ve never seen Obama poke fun at his own expense.

Regardless of his politics, this piece was howlingly funny! And did you know his wife is a conservative? And at least this man is honestly, if ignorantly liberal. He doesn’t try to hide who he is. And he will actually make a stab at honest debate of the issues. As much as any liberal idea can be debated, he debates the issue, and doesn’t call names and demogog. I respect him for that much.

I must admit I have been baffeled for a long time how some of these Dem weirdos keep getting elected. Kuchinich, Sheila Jackson-Lee, Barbara Boxer Nancy Pelosi, Anthony Weiner, Debbie Wasserman-Schultz, I could go on and on. My biggest worry is not so much that these “people” get getting re-elected as much as I worry about what it says about the people that keep voting for this scum. Maybe all voters should have to take a test to show they are at least literate and able to understand exactly what it is they are voting for and that they understand the Constitution and how the system is supposed to work.

The problem isn’t with the electees, it’s the media. I see the people who work around me who are uninvolved, believe evrything told to them by TV, are as all out ignorant as anything.
If the average person would get off of his/her duff and do some research with an open mind, things would be different. As it is, people are brain-washed by the media.
