What ‘Distortion’ Did the NYTimes Find in the Entire, Just-Released Obama ‘Documentary?’

Entire Obama Documentary | Davis Guggenheim and Tom HanksWe’re nearly to the summer blockbuster season. And what better way to kick it off than with the much-touted, 17-minute Obama “documentary” commissioned by the Obama campaign?

The movie, made by the man who can’t find a fault in the president and ridiculed by Republicans with a special poster, has just been released in its entirety. We’ve covered two of the leaked clips before (which focuses a lot of attention on the killing of bin Laden), and now you get to see what all the fuss is about.

So what are you in for? Well, for starters, even the New York Times is finding at least one “distortion” in it:

The film devotes a significant amount of time – nearly three minutes – to the president’s backing of a financial rescue package for Detroit automakers. And it highlights Mitt Romney’s New York Times Op-Ed from that period, when he argued that the car companies should not receive any government assistance. The headline, “Let Detroit Go Bankrupt,” is framed in bright red for emphasis.

Rahm Emanuel, the former White House chief of staff, characterizes Mr. Romney’s stance on the auto industry with a dismissive wave of the hand, saying “Let it go.”

This is somewhat of a distortion. Mr. Romney advocated for a managed bankruptcy, not a liquidation of the company. Auto executives and government officials involved in the bailout have repeatedly said that without federal intervention there would have been no path to bankruptcy, and the companies would have collapsed. [Emphasis added]

But wait, there’s more. It also covers, according to the Times, the “extremist element” of Obama’s opponents (translation: the Tea Party):

The movie is notable for the emphasis it places on the extremist element of Mr. Obama’s political opponents. It includes scenes from the raucous Tea Party-dominated protests outside the Capitol as Congress was considering the president’s health care overhaul plan.

Chants of “Kill the bill!” are heard alongside video of protesters holding signs with various slogans and images that are derogatory toward the president. One reads “You Lie!” while another shows the president crawling out of a coffin with the letters “R.I.P” on it.

“It’ll be a cold day in hell before he socializes my country,” says one man in a news clip from a New Orleans television station.

Hot Air’s Allahpundit is much more snarky:

The official title: “The Road We’ve Traveled.” My title: Three Years of Glory.

It’s all here. Protracted high unemployment, a catastrophic health-care boondoggle, aimlessness in Afghanistan, Iran nearing nuclear breakout capacity, soaring gas prices, and of course historic deficits on top of a looming entitlements-driven fiscal meltdown.

Can’t wait to see it, right? Well, just in case you actually can’t — meaning you don’t have 17 minutes — the folks over at Bulletpeople.com have condensed the 17-minute version down to 10 by speeding up the narration and using subtitles. Not only does it save time, but it makes Tom Hanks, Rahm Emanuel, and David Axelrod sound like they haven’t slept in four years and have been living on a stead stream of caffeine IVs. And the president like he’s a robot:

      I wonder when the NYT will examine Sheriff Joe Arpaio’s evidence to determine that there are “DISTORTIONS” with Obama’s Birth Certificate, Selective Service Registration and Social Security Number.

      There are three choices that have to be considered when dealing with Sheriff Joe Arpaio and the Cold Case Posse evidence:
      1). These vastly qualified and unblemished law enforcement officers are LYING. Consider that Sheriff Joe Arpaio is a 60 year law enforcement officer, 30 of that was as a Federal law enforcement officer. His posse is made up of retired career law enforcement officers with great reputation and unblemished records. A logically thinking person must rule out LYING.
      2). These law enforcement officers are WRONG? This is another illogical response given their years of experience with EVIDENCE and they would never put forward this evidence knowing they would look like fools plus they open themselves to a federal crime of attempting to unseat the POTUS.
      3) These men are ABSOLUTELY RIGHT. That is the only logical conclusion so now we must ask the following questions. When will BECK TV have these men on to examine their evidence? When will Congress investigate? When will FOX and FRIENDS have these men on? When will the Conservative Web Pages get all over this? When will Conservative Talk Radio get all over this? When will you contact each one of these cowards and ask them why they are not tackling the Constitutional issue of the Century?

      I fear re-election. To few Americans actually do any research and the main steam media will increase the Obama praises until November. The majority will likely follow along like lemmings. I pray that this won’t happen and I inform all those around me of the devastation that this uh… POTUS has wrought; I just have little faith in the masses and little faith that this will not be the most fraudulent election this nation has ever seen.

Ok…so where is that?
      And by the way-without being privy to operational details (at least the ones Obama and Biden haven’t blabbed about)- why did Pres. Obama preserved Bush’s Rendition (on a a long weekend while lefties were drunk and stoned) so OBL would have either been taken to an overseas facility for questioning or would have had to go to Gitmo. Gitmo of course was ordered closed by Pres. Baraka Obama (sic) within hours of his stepping into office. It not only remains open today…but Baraka Obama (sic) is planning to build a $750K soccer field there. Wow…that’s some way to close a facility. In short…I truly believe Obama ordered OBL killed for political reasons, not strategic ones- again I’m saying this without being privy to the determinations of the military and intelligence operatives involved in the operation.

      Either one of two candidates will take the stage as the President of the United States in 2012. One is the current president and the other is Ron Paul. Why? Because only these two fit the MO required to allow the prophecy of the Middle East to come to full fruition.
      People can state there opinion if they want, it simply will not effect the prophecy from this point foreword. Persia (Iran) and Media (Iraq/Turkey) will rise to power just as it is stated in the book of Daniel chapter 8. They will be soundly defeated by the West, just as it is defined in Daniel chapter 11. The only way for these two to rise to power is for them to be allowed to move about freely in the Middle East, which means the US 5th fleet and the US military in Afghanistan must be out of the way. The only two presidential candidates who would support this activity are Barack Obama and Ron Paul however, Mr Obama continues to retain troops in the Middle East and shows no signs of retreat at this point, so I doubt he will be the one that is tapped in 2012 to lead this nation. Further, since the Middle East activity is a Russian plan, the text of Daniel 7 discusses a wound being laid upon Russia (Esau) by its comrades. That means things in the USA and Middle East are not going to turn out as the communists/socialists are planning.

Right what Romney was advocating was a bankruptcy where “rescue” investment bankers get the assets for 10 cents on the dollar, demand even more worker and benefit cuts and pocket excessive profits for doing virtually nothing. The approach taken was much more efficient and effective as the capital stayed in the company and thus not siphoned off as is the way of the Bain Capitals of the world.

      I’ll answer – NEVER. Why? Because almost all of them (Beck, O’Reilly, Fox, etc.) a bunch of phonies. Beck claims to read the original words of the founders and uphold the Constitution. He is NOT a Natural Born Citizen as defined by the Founders that wrote the Constitution.

Maybe you’ve filed for bankruptcy yourself or one of your friends or family members have, but the automobile industry, which is a significant fraction of the US economy, is different. There were no investors willing and able to save the industry. The government, stepped in, saved the industry and now they’re doing well when otherwise they would have been forced to liquidate.

      But I did see your remark, “You’re an idiot JZS and your peurile interjections have no place in an intelligent exchange.” It is ironic, even surreal and to see the words “intelligent exchange” in one of your posts. I think you may actually have gotten a thesaurus to expand on and improve your currently limited erudition. Sad thing is, if I didn‘t know the truth behind it and was just one of these dumb college kids you see on Leno’s “Jaywalking” I might actually be impressed.       As much as I WANT Obama defeated and RUN out of politics,,,,my fear is that it won’t happen. Stages are being set now that will allow illegal votes that will tip the election in Obama’s favor. What stage!!!! The ID voter law. Obama needs the votes of the illegals, who in turn profit from Obamas liberal, socialistic stances (less border security, less deportation, local law enforcement forced to NOT identify illegals, free medical and education.) These were designed to promote the votes from illegal immigrants,,,,which cannot happen if the voter ID law is instituted. Why do you think the Justice Department is working so hard to defeat any state trying to impose voter ID???

      No, I fear Obama is hear for another 4 years,,,,,,then God help us.

      CLUNKERT – Beck‘s integrity is diminished by his implied assertion that obama’s eligibility is valid. It’s frustrating as it discredits his staff and all the hard work they do to bring the more critical truths to light. It’s frustrating because even I can see the evidence for what it is. I don‘t understand his stance on this particular issue and I definitely don’t agree with it. That being said, Beck and his staff have more integrity than any of the State Run Media including Fox News and as I might disagree on this particular issue, I do agree that the problem is far larger than the eligibility of this person occupying our Oval Office. Where everyone else on the air/Internet only seem to echo the latest complaints, Beck actually offers solutions other than shooting from the hip and volleying hateful remarks. He talks about sticking together rather than abandoning our country altogether. There are a few issues that I personally disagree with but I don‘t know of anyone who’s opinions match mine exactly and thank GOD for that otherwise I would never know when I am truly right or wrong. I definitely would categorize Beck with O’Reily, Hannity or any of the other schmucks that collect a regular paycheck from SRM. Understand that Beck is building his own business with his own funding rather than being paid to report or not report on the current state of affairs. I would absolutely love to see obama and his conspirators cuffed and booked but who will do it and what do we do

      I think people will look at this over the top film and say … Good God Almighty we have had enough!

      Why would Tom Hanks (another man with a grandiose opinion of himself) think he could sell anyone four more years of this president we have lived him for 3 1/2 years!
      1 in 7 Americans on food stamps we have the highest gas prices I have ever seen we have unprecedented unemployment rates and the housing market is still in the tank
      and we have the most corrupt White House I have seen in my life time.
      Fast and Furious, a never ending White Wash on his Green Energy investments in “Green” companies for donations with OUR TAX MONEY that have gone BANKRUPT and we don’t even know the half of that yet!

      We are saturated 24/7 in everything Obama from TV shows like American Idol to even our sporting events like the pre Super Bowl campaign speeches by NBC .
      To the NCAA we can’t watch without it without Obama inserting himself into our recreation!…
      Its like living in Venezuela.
      We have the state run news running defense for him 24/7 … this has become a dictatorship!

      Enough of this sky high egotistical speechifier a propped up Hollywood B actor that can’t even speak two words without his teleprompter.

      We The People have had enough of this dictatorship!

      I just find it totally unbelievable that I looked through pages of comments and only found comments about how great obama is. It is fascinating…someone should look into this for sure….Glenn?

      If you think watching Obama, Reed, Polosi, Franks, Holder, Soros, Buffet and Debbie Wassermann Schultz on News Stories make you sick – can you imagine watching the Democratic National Convention.

      I do believe we all feel and react this way, BUT, you need to pass this information on to others, who may not KNOW this. IT WILL BE DETRIMENT TO THE OUTCOME OF THE ELECTIONS IN NOVEMBER.

      I havn’t watched more than 10 minutes of regular TV since I was visiting relatives in August. Movies are OK I watch some netflix now and then. Regular TV is for Succas. I got better things to do with my time.

      Too late. This administration has put too many things in motion that cannot be stopped. The opposition’s lack-luster candidate doesn’t stand a chance against Super Star BHO and the complicit media support.

      To use a “Thelma & Louise” analogy, we’re over the cliff. We can listen to the radio, adjust the air condtioner, and step on the brakes, but there is no way to avoid the inevitable. We cannot wait for the sting of outrage to fade before we start learning how to live in our Brave New World.

    I can not explain it, but I can not stomach watching Obama in a format. It actually makes me sick in the stomach. In my heart of hearts, I believe there is an evil within this man. I pray for his soul for he has sold it. I would not watch this film or even the above trailers. We turn off the TV when he speaks in our home. It is hard enough to read what he has spoken, but in order to be full informed it is something I must do.

      The price comes out to more than $20,300 per minute for the propaganda film. The name of the film should be “The Dictator”.

      I will never look at the people “IN” Hollywood again without knowing they have become part of the problem in this country that is bringing this country to its knees.

      My “Do Not Watch List” grows longer with each day. I will never again give my hard earned money to these people who in turn use it to prop up the fraud.
