Last year’s Super Bowl commercial from Volkswagen featuring a young boy in a Darth Vadar costume was a smash, winning awards as well as the appreciation of millions. “The Force” generated more than 50 million views on YouTube.

The commercial was so well received that VW is going back to the Star Wars franchise. This brief teaser spot entitled, “The Bark Side” was posted on Jan. 18 and has already generated more than five million hits:
The full 60 second spot is slated to run during the 3rd quarter of the upcoming Super Bowl.
The YouTube post also has a link to another Star Wars themed promotional page from Volkswagen. This one allows you to create a Star-Wars-styled invitation to your own party to watch “The Big Game.”
If it’s been a while since you have seen the original VW Star Wars spot, we’ve got you covered:

Posted on January 22, 2012 at 12:55amI am confused: Is VW (designed by Adolf Hitler)… for the Dark Side Empire (alike Obama)… or for the people?

Posted on January 22, 2012 at 1:08amcould be worse, it could be a commie GM car run by Obama the socialist and his left wing union buddies (BTW I drive a VW and it’s fricking awesome)

Posted on January 22, 2012 at 8:56amhow is it that obama has anything to do with this? or hitler?

Hitler was an engineer before he became a dictator, and he designed the Wolkswagon Beetle (Wolkswagon = “People’s car”) as a means of inexpensive transportation for the general populace.
Obama stole GM from the people who invested in it by illegally denying them their share of the company, which he gave to the UAW instead.
That’s why Hitler and Obama are part of the discussion.

Posted on January 23, 2012 at 10:09pm@vonmises,
Now that’s just not even true. Hitler was never an engineer, he was an enlisted solider and then went straight into politics. He commissioned the beetle after he was already in power, but didn’t design it. Ferdinand Porsche did.

Posted on January 25, 2012 at 11:51amVonMises is an idiot! The VW “beetle” was designed by Ferdinand Porsche for the German car company, not by Hitler himself.

Where did you even get the idea that Hitler was an engineer? He was a failed art student. That’s about it. He was a total waste of space…the modern day occupy member.

Posted on January 22, 2012 at 12:50amA lot better choice than Mercedes, with Che! Looking forward to the new GM Super Bowl commercial with Obama singing and dancing with a teleprompter. Heard it was going to be a remake of the Young Frankenstein (substitute ‘Putting on the Ritz’, with ‘Hope & Change GM!‘ Can’t wait for the tap dancing…Although we’re pretty use to it by now! …WINNING! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=co6-tYS9k1U&feature=related

Posted on January 21, 2012 at 8:56pmWhen the dad raises his eyebrows up and then down to his wife, is a very tender moment between a husband and wife and a playful dad to his boy. The husband is able to show his mischievous side to his wife and still be her gladiator.
Report Post »Another ad is the class-reunion and the tune playing and two former lovers see each other and are married to different people but have a fond-memory-clip and he still has the old Subaru(?) parked in the driveway. Oh sucks..I am a romantic!
I laughed and laughed at the dogs and the ending. Just great humor!

Posted on January 21, 2012 at 7:27pmUgh, no more reminders of this commercial from last year, because it got me in trouble. My young nephew thought he could start my truck by doing the same thing he saw on tv, and when he tried, I set off the car alarm…..once he finished screaming and crying, my sister gave me a boatload of grief about it.

Posted on January 21, 2012 at 6:28pmCute, but I wouldn’t have known they were barking the Star Wars theme. They were a little bit out of tune. :)
I’ve seen the other commercial for several months … is it supposed to be new for the Super Bowl?
