The ‘Storm’: Wisconsin Teachers’ Union Members Invade Arizona

The cliche “If you can‘t beat ’em, join ‘em,” might be tired, but it’s also true. Unfortunately, the Wisconsin Teachers‘ Unions don’t appear to have taken it to heart following their humiliating defeat against Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker, who appears to have routed the teachers‘ unions so completely that they’ve decided to leave Wisconsin. Woefully enough, they haven’t left to ponder their failings, do some soul searching and emerge modernized. Rather, they’ve decided that rather than shrug their shoulders and say, “If you can‘t beat ’em, join ‘em,” they real message they ought to take away is, “If you can‘t beat ’em, bully someone weaker.”
Thus, today, a story comes from the Arizona Daily Independent indicating that Wisconsin’s teachers union leadership has decided to pack up their highlighters, chalk and apples, and begin picketing schools in Tucson, Arizona. Why? Because of the local school board’s controversial decision to ban schools from offering Mexican-American studies courses that are overly political and aim to radicalize students on the basis of race. At the practical level, this apparently meant banning Mexican-American studies courses altogether (what that means about Mexican-American studies, we don’t like to think), which is where Wisconsin‘s teachers’ unions decided to plant their flag:
A Wisconsin teacher advised her “brothers and sisters” and the TUSD Governing Board members that this is “a revolution” and called for “solidarity” at last night’s Governing Board meeting.
Professor Anita Fernandez advised the Board that that they are in town with a “full commitment to bring back Mexican American Studies here and elsewhere across the country.”[...]
The radical group has named their political effort “Freedom Summer” after civil rights effort in the summer of 1964.
The group of about 30 adults and a few students gathered at the Board meeting to begin what they call the “storm.” Isabel Garcia and Roberto “Dr. Cintli” Rodriguez addressed the Board as they almost always do, to spew invective and false claims about the Mexican American Studies classes.
The adults once again trotted out Nico, a young man who has become the poster boy for their cause. He approached the speaker’s podium, said he didn’t know why he was there. He then told the Board that all he had to say was “hell,” which was greeted by warm and adoring laughter from his adult “mentors.
One adult who identified herself as a “teacher” told the Board that “the world is watching you, and we are enraged and we will do whatever we have to do to carry on Freedom Summer.”
We have to note the irony involved in this – apparently the Wisconsin Teachers‘ Unions’ idea of protesting the argument that Mexican-American studies courses promote radicalization and politicized behavior…is to radicalize and politicize the discussion about Mexican-American studies courses. Proving the arguments of your opponents with your actions is not typically a wise strategy.
Nevertheless, the school district has every reason to worry. Bloodied Wisconsin Teachers‘ Union members are still Wisconsin Teachers’ Union members, and with school closings on the horizon, their presence could change from that of a hysterical nuisance to a genuine thorn in the local Board’s side. We hope the “Freedom Summer” reaches its fall soon.

All public employees should be treated more like federal employees whose wages and benefits are determined w/o collective bargaining and CAN be fired following reasonable HR policies. If you doubt it look into the background checks for IHS healthcare providers and their salaries versus private sector.

We’re proud of you. Please don’t read criticism of radical teachers spreading their vile politics in Arizona as criticism of the fine people of Wisconsin (like yourselves).
You guys and girls did a GREAT job of supporting Gov. Walker in the recall election. You showed the rest of America how to do it. Kudos!

It is no wonder the public school system is in trouble with useful idiots like these, but on the high side, it may give AZ’s economy a little boost (what with the jail fines, court costs, etc). Jan Brewer won’t put up with their bad behavior very long.

Posted on July 11, 2012 at 5:52pmAin’t nuttin for the Children. It’s all for UNIONS and their corrupt organization. The more you let the unions get foot hold, the dumber your children will become. All this stuff about “it being for the little children” is intended to make you think that’s a fact, while in fact: it’s for the unions payroll and buying the liberal party, keeping bad teachers on to help your kids get dumber, and more teachers who will be complacent.

Rusky (I think) was making fun of the way the radicalized, leftist teachers union members always claim “it’s for the children” when they’re out in the streets acting like the thugs they are, trying to destroy America.

Posted on July 11, 2012 at 5:29pmThey all need cleaning out. Close public schools, and have been needing closing for years. They offer nothing but negative things for the students and the filth, bullying and socialist indoctrination, dumbing down that has been layered upon through the years. Get those leftist, dope smoking hedonists away from your children who do not want anything good and decent around your children. Where the Ten Commandments are not welcome people should not consider these people looking out for your interests, they have no conscious and have sold their soul to the unions and Communist/Socialist/Marxists.

Report Post »Kenszen
Posted on July 11, 2012 at 5:50pmNo, not *all* teachers are becoming communist–just that the ones who are, are becoming *more* communist. There are a lot of teachers, I would say at least half if not more–probably more–who are good teachers that you never hear about. And many of them, unfortunately, are afraid to speak up because of union arm twisting and thuggery. The union is the biggest problem for education. The next biggest problem are ill-informed or school boards with ill-intent. Whenever you see teachers in the news, it’s mostly because of the jerks acting out.

Posted on July 11, 2012 at 4:55pmAdd this to the long list of reasons the Dept. of Education needs to be dismantled… the sooner the better if you care about the education students of all ages are receiving. They‘re nothing but a socialist political machine today that’s constantly wanting other people to give them more than the other people have.
Kids? Forget the kids! It’s all about the union members… Albert Shanker..who’s dead now was a past president of the teachers union and he became famous for this quote: ” When school children start paying union dues, that’s when I’ll start representing the interests of school children.”
School spending has gone through the roof and test scores are flat.

We do not tolerate racism here, we don’t teach mexican kids to hate whites and we do not tolerate anyone who supports that kind of behavior. The protests so far have been very much like a KKK rally for mexicans. You have a handful of mexicans filled with hate and violence while a vast majority is embarrassed they share the same ethnic background. We put an end to this racist behavior but now the radical left ilk is screaming like a 2 yr old that they insist on teaching hate in the classrooms. Now Wisconsin is sending more two year olds? Hope we have enough diapers on hand to deal with all the crap these folks will produce. Fear not, they will not receive a warm welcome here…..we dont take crap from nobody down here!
