Posted on May 6, 2011 at 8:36amI like Herman Cain, but am undecided about who I will support. I wish the field had been larger. I think this debate was one for the lesser-knowns to introduce themselves.
This much I decided from the clips. I wouldn’t vote for Paul or Johnson. Their desire to legalize every vice know to humanity is not supportive of families. If they had their way, we would end up with a crack house, a porn shop, and a brothel on every street corner. More crack than Church? No thanks! That’s no an environment healthy for raising a family!
I didn’t watch the debate because my cable was down. Thanks for the clips and the comments.

Posted on May 6, 2011 at 8:44amActually, they would NOT legalize it. What they are advocating is putting the power of those decisions back where they belong. The states.
That is what the Constitution entails. Time to get back to the Constitution. Did you notice that Nevada already allows prostitution, has that spread?
People have to realize that just because something is lawful, it does not mean everyone is going to do it. Are you going to begin using drugs? Are you going to start using hookers?

Breakdown.
Herman Cain won the debate hands down. Concise, to the point and is a leader.
Rick Santorum, intelligent, moral and pretty dang likeable.
Ron Paul, his standard and consistent self. Knowledgeable about the economy, mistaken about national defense. He should think about one of my ideas about privatizing our military and make any country that wants us to help them, they pay. He must have never read my ideas I sent to him.
Tim Pawlenty, the cap and trade is going to be his downfall, otherwise I like him.
Gary Johnson, he broke Reagan’s 11th commandment and denigrated Sarah Palin, sorry he just lost in his first primetime showing. Did you hear the crowd’s gasp? Oh yeah he is DONE.

Posted on May 6, 2011 at 11:38am@david….The clear winner for me was Ron Paul. He was the only one who brought up the issue of “Sound Money”. He is dead right about this. This is the issue the Republicans need to bring out in this next election. A sound money policy is the key to our economy getting back on track. Because of our current Federal Reserve System our biggest export in the last couple of decades has been our wealth. The 14 trillion of debt we now own would not have been possible without the actions of the Federal Reserve System. I hope whoever gets the nod for the Republicans will address this issue.

__________________________________________________________________________
This is exactly what I liked about Cain. No one person is going to know everything and the best thing to do is consult with experts and take their advice. Obama proved to me he’s more interested in cronyism than he is in finding the right person to do the job. My first thought when Obama hired Janet Napolitano as Secretary of Homeland Security was THANK GOODNESS Arizona has been spared and the second thought was, my dead cat knows more about Homeland Security than Napolitano, and that was the first indication Obama was an idiot.

Posted on May 6, 2011 at 7:10pmAfghanistan is an issue that has been with us for nine years. One shouldn’t need experts in the White House to come to some idea of what you want to broadly accomplish there. He clearly hadn’t spent enough time analyzing it. Heck, neither have I. But I’m not running for President. If I were I sure as hell would study any wars we were still engaged in and come up with a position.
Cain will get a big bounce out of this. He’ll get more attention. But he better be more preparred on foreign policy next time or else they will do to him what they did to Palin.

He was totally awesome and Ron Paul was the total opposite to the point I wanted to throw my shoe at him! He is boring, snooty, and just not someone I could support! He needs to go back to Congress where he does well, but not Presidential material! Had not heard of the Johnson person and am not interested at all in him–stay wherever you are–not what I want in a President! Im not saying hes the only one but it sickens me to keep reading how people could never back Paul because of how he looks and speaks.

Posted on May 6, 2011 at 9:18amHell of the Upside… u r right in that regard, but we still need someone who can get his point across quickly, and who speaks well and the most fluent, it “does” make a the difference btwn winning and losing. Look at Obama, most americans do not and didn’t agree with his policies, but he still won cuz he’s a real good fluent speaker. and looks good, i can’t help u thats the fact, these kind of people win. For this reason alone i would want Cain to run against Obama cuz Obama has to much charisma to have a miserable looking Paul run aginst him (not that he is miserable but he looks so). Even though i do agree a whole lot with Paul’s views, that in most part the government should get out of the way. But, we must have someone who can challenge Obama in that regard. I think its’ extremely important. (Mitch Daniels is also amazing in that regard, even so his views are not so aligned with mine).

Posted on May 6, 2011 at 11:51amsheris: Herman Cain has a simple 3 step business plan that might work in a business, but it is not going to cut it in politics. A business strategy is good, but there is so much more to being President of the United States, and he just plain lacks experience. Even Sarah Palin had more experience than this man has. If you won’t consider Senator Tom Coburn from Oklahoma, then AT LEAST consider someone of his stature. I still haven’t seen a record that this man is running on. Everyone in the media screamed about Sarah Palin’s lack of foreign policy, but no one is talking about this man’s lack of foreign policy. We saw what a community organizer has done to the country…perhaps we should find someone who is actually qualified for the job now, and be more serious about it.

Posted on May 6, 2011 at 3:50pmMr. Cain surely stands out. Right now only him and Ron Paul appear to have the much needed courage. Despite what many think, courage is more important than looks. Ron Paul has been incredibly courageous. I don’t care if no one in the House or Senate likes him. That personally shows he must be right. Because 95% of those individuals need to be kicked out. Therefore, yes Ron Paul is worthy of my vote and I would also at this point include Herman Cain. These are the only two that are conservative enough to get me join the Republican Party and vote for them. Otherwise, I will continue to vote 3rd party. Posted on May 6, 2011 at 9:40am“As Reagan said, “Thou shalt not speak ill of any fellow Republican.””
David, you know that that rule never applied in the primaries. Reagan was not slow to criticize fellow Republicans when he was running against them. He meant that Republicans should not take the Democrats‘ or media’s side in attacking another Republican, things McCain and Graham have done repeatedly.

Posted on May 6, 2011 at 9:47amIslefordian, I know, but at a lot of other of my blogging locales it seems like a lot of the commenters are getting as bad as the leftists. Using fallacies and Saul Alinsky tactics.
Now, if a Republican calls out a RINO, all is fair on that point.

Posted on May 6, 2011 at 10:19amDavid, while I must admit my frustration with RINOs, and I’m from Maine, I am getting tired of seeing that term used as a club to beat any Republkican not conservative enough or not one’s brand of Republican. I have seen Santorum, who have the highest conservative rating in the Senate, called a RINO many times. I fear the term is losing its useful meaning, like the term “fascist” when liberals speak it.

Posted on May 6, 2011 at 11:42amCain came across very well, but he only gets a D+ rating on his stance on illegal immigration from numbersusa. That is troubling to me, of course most of these guys got a crummy rating. The highest was for Tim Pawlenty who only got a C+. Doesn’t anyone believe in enforcing our laws any more or are they all just so many words? I’ve always liked Ron Paul, but he gets an F rating on this issue, downgraded from a C- after his latest book unfortunately.

Keep Cain and bring out the heavy weights – Allen West MUST be included !!

Posted on May 6, 2011 at 1:57pmCain did not sound genuine in anything he said last night, and he seems to be way off in his understanding of a free market system… I was disappointed in him, I had high hopes after hearing his bumble bee speech. Ron Paul was the only guy their last night who has always stuck to his beliefs. He has never swayed with the political ocean/sentiment. I hope every one votes for Paul this time around. If he had been elected a long time ago, we would not be in a financial mess. He is also very strong pro life – he has delivered more than 4000 babies in his career as a doctor.

Posted on May 6, 2011 at 2:17pmThe democrats don’t know what they are up against. The Republican Primary is going to be one of the hotest political events of the last decade. I thought all of these guys were pretty good but there are still a lot of people who haven’t announced yet. If this can be a clean, prinicipaled and policy oriented debate this primary could be a turning point for American Politics.

He is not running, nor does he have intentions on running.
Furthermore, I like Glenn Beck, and I believe quite a few things he advocates, but do not fall into the same pitfall that all America falls into election time and go:
“OMG Glenn beck likes Allen west, and I like Glenn Beck so…….I Like Allen West!”
Half of you here do not even know his policies, and could not compare or contrast them to Ron Paul’s. If you did compare and contrast them to Ron Paul’s, you would find he knows nothing of the danger the Federal Reserve poses.
You would also find they both advocate the constitution.

Sorry my friend but wont allow you to distort the facts. nobama??? NO WAY!!! Under President Bush we had 5% unemployment. Under nobama it is reported over 9% for most of his term and that is only because they removed jobs from the job pool to keep it below 10%. Bush did this inspite of 9/11 and two wars.
When President Obama took office, the national debt stood at $10.626 trillion. It now stands at $14.071 trillion — an increase of $3.445 trillion in just 735 days (about $5 billion a day).
When President George W. Bush took office, our national debt was $5.768 trillion. By the time Bush left office, it had nearly doubled, to $10.626 trillion. During his presidency, the national debt rose by an average of $607 billion a year.
How does that compare to Obama? During Obama’s presidency to date, the national debt has risen by an average of $1.723 trillion a year — or by a jaw-dropping $1.116 trillion more, per year, than it rose even under Bush.
