‘The Tragic Kingdom’: Anaheim Protesters Take Their Message to Disneyland

Last weekend, demonstrators stormed a police station in Anaheim, California to protest an officer-involved shooting that left a man dead, according to police.

Now, a mixture of groups– including a representative from the “Occupy” movement– have moved their message to the “Magic Kingdom” of Disneyland, afraid their voices were no longer being heard from Anaheim.

KABC has more information on the latest developments:

The protesters were peaceful as they made their voices heard. They said they want the Anaheim police chief removed from his position and they want the police department put under a microscope to explain what is behind the string of shootings.

“What I hope to accomplish here today and the rest of us, [is] that the people are aware of what’s happening here in the city of Anaheim and that we want the police to be accountable for their actions,” said protester Yvonne Elizondo.

Authorities say Diaz, a documented gang member from Santa Ana according to police, reached for his waistband before he was shot and killed by officers July 21. Officers said Diaz, who had a criminal record, failed to heed orders and threw something as he fled police. It was later confirmed that Diaz was not armed.

Police also shot and killed Joel Acevedo, a documented gang member from Anaheim according to police. Officials say Acevedo shot at officers at the end of a pursuit July 22 in a stolen SUV.

But why take the demonstration to Disneyland, of all places?  Perhaps because, due to the violence and vandalism the protesters seem to bring, a number of them were seemingly not allowed to attend a City Council meeting.  KABC continues:

Anaheim police have doubled their patrol since Tuesday night – that’s when protesters were angry they were not allowed in to the already-packed City Council meeting. People took to the streets and 20 businesses were vandalized. Officers arrested 24 people.

Barriers were also put up Friday around the Anaheim Police Department headquarters in the event any of the demonstrations nearby get out of hand. Authorities want to prevent people from vandalizing the building.

But not everyone at Disneyland was convinced by the protests.

One woman, who said she was actually from Anaheim, commented: “It’s how you choose to live your life.  If you wake up every day to go to work, okay.  If you wake up every day to steal a car, hey, you know what, that’s going to happen to you.”

When asked if he still sees Disneyland as “happiest place on earth,” one boy simply responded, “yeah.”

    They really ought to be more concerned with removing all the gangs that are running rampant in Anaheim and so many other cities in Cal., they are ruining city after city and are responsible for so much of the crime. But like any good collaborator they are more concerned with protecting the criminals and getting rid of the police. Makes sense in crime infested area. Or where gangs are becoming the norm.

    If you are a Gang Member or Illegal Alien, expect the possiblities to die if you stay in the USA or stay alive by going back to your Country. Law-bidding Americans do not want you here. We only want Law-bidding Citzens, not Criminals.

    If you love them so much, go to their Country & give them all Big Hugs and tell them how much you feel sorry for them & by all means, never come back to the USA. This means The Protesters also,DON”T COME BACK TO USA!

      Entering a country illegally is not a crime worthy of death. The punishment should fit the crime and it’s clear you have lost your sense of justice when you start advocating death penalties for non-egregious crimes. Listen, why is it so hard for you to start a rational discussion since you obviously feel so passionately about it, (albeit violent)? Blazers say libs argue strictly on emotion, exclusively, but it’s clear that it works both ways as you have demonstrated here. I’m all for effective immigration policy, but leave the threats of violence and death out of the discussion, they are not productive.

    As far as I’m concerned, they could put up a border fence between California and the rest of the Country. A real fence, one that has about 50 thousand gigawatts flowing through it. The people of California deserve what they get as long as they continue electing and re-electing idots. The rest of the United States don’t deserve it though. That includes Hollywood as well. Make it the new Capitol of Mexico. With the new high speed train going in, the bangers can move more rapido, between L.A. and Frisco. All this should be done however, before Nancy Lugosi, Barbara Boxer, Max Waters, and Diane Feinstein are able to return to D.C.

      Hey stupid, just a few facts for you. The L.A. Times reported on Nov 4, 2010 that Moonbeam was back in the governor’s chair and Boxer was re-elected because of the hispanic vote. Over 40% of the state voted for Carly and Meg. CA Prop 187 was a more strict law than the AZ law, why don’t you look it up and find out what happened to it. So, the bottom line is simple, the Feds do not do their jobs and then you spout this stupidity. Next time, why don’t you do a little research before spouting this garbage.

    There is so much politics within most police departments, the officers cannot even do their jobs. The left is wanting to control who gets arrested now for what instead of going by the already established laws. When did the citizens acting like criminals tell the police if they could be arrested or not? This is nothing but silly crap.

    These people are coming into our country with the blessings of that sorry man in our White house, bringing drugs, getting into gangs and killing Americans. This usurper in our White House is mocking the American people by breaking the laws of this land. He is nothing. He is evil or he would not usurp the Justice system of this country in the manner he has. Those who are going along with this man should be jailed right along with him. He is getting this country in such bad shape, that it will take years to recover and they will once again run some jerk like this from the left after Romney, (hopefully Romney will be elected) and say Romney did a lousey job. They may get back in and finish this country off. This is what is being left for future generations of Americans. This young generation will have to deal with the drug crazies and psychopaths who are a result of drug use. It does not seem to be getting any better.

    The only good gang member is a dead gang member. Good job cops. The cops should be able to shoot and kill every person who, during a riot is seen flipping cars or breaking windows to a business or home or throwing a fire bomb. Anyone who is looting should be shot and killed also.

    Anaheim PD has always been a gung-ho redneck department. Twenty years ago it was the outlaw biker gangs that fought each other and the police for control of the streets. So the PD had to be meaner and tougher in response just to survive. Today the criminal element in Anaheim is larger and more violent by an order of magnitude than the bikers ever were. The mexican gangs are on every block- their graffiti tags cover walls and road signs with vulgar challenges- their prevalence is such that the tags overlap in most places. People drive down city streets afraid to look at anything but the road in front of them, hostages in their own town- For one wrong look could be and often is returned with gunfire.
    Anaheim PD is just returning what is given to them everyday, hate and lead at a thousand feet per second. Thankfully their marksmanship is better than the gangsters.

      Well stated! And it is not just an issue in Anaheim. Garden Grove, Buena Park, Fullerton, Long Beach and on and on it goes. Only south Orange County “has dodged the bullet” so to speak…..so far anyway.

That is why is is imperative to vet anyone even applying or going into these positions in the government. They should be inspected as closely as food people eat.     So many things could have happened that are not yet known that it’s impossible to yet determine if it was a righteous shoot or not. So many people forget that cops are citizens too, that lethal force is authorized for a citizen or LEO when they feel their life is in danger-even if the other person is unarmed (it’s all about justification).

    But thats ok, be biased against the officers. As I recall it wasnt the average Joe Schmoe that stayed behind during the LA riots to protect people. Or for that matter any similar riot. Have fun off by yourself. Because it’s gonna suck!

      During those riots, the police were present, however were only allowed to watch the business’ get looted. Any attempt to make an arrest was frowned upon because it would have upset the rioters.

      Absolutely true. But also true that most did not flee. And while many shop owners and others also stayed behind to protect their property, certainly not all did. Additionally, restoration of order did not come from a group of armed store owners but from a different group of armed citizens.

    I never thought that I’d find myself writing something like this but Disneyland (under the current direction and management) has been at the forefront of homosexual “rights”, liberal cultural decay, and perversion of youth through terrible movie messages ever since Walt Disney died and it‘s somehow fitting that the mess that they’ve created, be brought LITERALLY to their front door.

    When you go to Disneyland these days, it’s a CITY-sized complex and it’s going to be rough for these illegals to make much of a stink that matters but when (not IF) southern Commiefornia goes up in flames, the people that repeatedly voted for “sanctuary cities” and liberal communist politicians are going to get what they’ve got coming……..IN SPADES.

    It’s heartbreaking to see what “Californication” has done to that beautiful state…

    We all know that cops could do a much better job eliminating crime. Just consider the examples of the seventy six women and children they burned to death at Waco. All they have to do is randomly shoot through doors and kill the bad guys like they did when they shot Randy Weaver’s wife dead behind a door while holding her baby. The cops don’t need to worry about any consequences either as has been shown by never being prosecuted for these atrocities. They can lie under oath and destroy evidence like they were found to have done with flight 800. They don’t need to worry about congress doing anything to them either because congressmen are deathly afraid of the dossiers the FBI have compiled against them. If the cops don’t have anything on them, then they know that the cops will simply spread false rumors about them. Julian Assange – 2 girls suddenly come out of nowhere and accuse him of rape. John Ramsey was accused of being into pornography. Elizabeth Smart’s father, a Mormon, was said to be in a homosexual relationship with his brother. The FBI finds a box of interest in a lake behind Dr. Hatfield’s appartment – a turtle trap. Cops are definitely becoming more and more Gestapo link in America.

      The conspiracy nuts like Battles will never be satisfied until there is anarchy to prevent any the less than 1% of corrupt officers (verses the average of 10% of the non-LEO with criminal tendencies) from ever possibly harming someones rights. These are also the same people that think officers can make any shot yet forget how hard it is to hit a moving target such as the Weaver the designated marksman missed. They also think officers walked up to the Waco compound and poured gas on the wall then laughed as they light it with their Bic.

      I am so sick of the government allowing these invaders into our country. We just had a third world style kidnapping in Greenville, SC, committed by a group of illegal aliens. We have illegal alien gang activity, murders, rapes, drunk driving, etc., all increasing due to these invaders. They all need to be rounded up and deported, and then secure the border with the military.
      There is no hope of anything being done with Obama and his commies in charge. I just hope and pray we can get rid of him this election, and try to get the new administration to take illegal immigration seriously. I don’t have a lot of hope for that either, but maybe if we all make enough noise there can be some improvement.
