NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — “The View” co-host Sherri Shepherd has answered a call from a higher power – The Gospel Music Association.
Shepherd will host The Dove Awards and she says fans can expect “a hot night of Godly music and comedy” at Christian Music’s annual celebration of voices raised in faith.
The comedian and actress is a Daytime Emmy winner for her work on “The View” and the host of “The Newlywed Game,“ and has a recurring role on the sitcom ”30 Rock.”
The 42nd annual Doves have been moved to Atlanta’s Fox Theatre this year from its traditional home of Nashville and will be taped on April 20 and aired on GMC on April 24, which is Easter Sunday.
Nominations will be announced Feb. 16 in Atlanta.

Posted on February 7, 2011 at 12:41pmI am sad, and who made this decision. Just goes to show how tolerant we have become, anything goes and we should accept it and keep our mouths shut. Well the older I get I speak what’s on my mind. If we talk the talk we need to also walk the walk.

Posted on February 7, 2011 at 12:22pmUnbelievable! Maybe all the other people they had to have asked ahead of her were busy actually celebrating Easter with their families! This is a disgrace to the Dove Awards, they certainly could have made a better choice.

Posted on February 7, 2011 at 11:23amI am a believer by grace through faith. I don’t care who hosts. It may be a poor choice, but the content on the lyrics is really what matters. Most of it is “worshiptainment anyway, And I love contemporary Christian music as long as it lines up with His Word.
Report Post »And let’s get our theology straight. We don’t “accept” Jesus! He cooses us. As if we actually have the right or power to accept The King of Kings. The only reason we become “saved” is because He seeks and chooses us. Too many people think that just because they saisd a “sinners prayer”, that is not found in scripture, that they are saved. If you are saved you know it. And going to a “church” doesn’t make me a Christian anymore than standing in my garage makes me a car. All Glory and praise to the God of The Bible. Not some manmade god from our own image!!!

Posted on February 7, 2011 at 11:10amI just can’t get over that CHRISTIANS think that EASTER is an appropriate day for this to air. Really? I mean, as a Christian I think Easter is the most sacred of all days for Christians. I certainly won’t be watching this.

Posted on February 7, 2011 at 4:29pmAllright,
You said; “I mean, as a Christian I think Easter is the most sacred of all days for Christians.”
Can you show us where the scriptures say this? The Easter celebration with it’s customs are of pagan origins with a Christian label attached to it. Jesus Christ never instructed his followers to adopt pagan rituals. He taught the truth!

Posted on February 7, 2011 at 10:45amShows you how deeply the Gospel Music Association has sunk to put her as the face of their awards presentation. Wonder how many “F” bombs and “S” bombs are going to be bleeped? This is an opportunity to put a truly Christian face on the event and they have blown it.

Posted on February 7, 2011 at 10:31amThe Dove Awards and the Nobel Prize are both relegated to the dust heap of history. Neither one stand for what MOST people assume. I educated myself about the Neble prize so it is irrelevant to me now and in fact as I understand it you have be a radical left wing nut to even be nominated for it. Someone educate themselves about the Dove Awards, I bet you have to be a “wink, wink, nod, nod” sort of Christian to get nominated. That is sure the qualifications for he MC position.

Posted on February 7, 2011 at 10:00amLet me be totally inappropriate. Sherri can ‘testify’ that the “dozens of abortions” she had actually decreased the ignorant population by just as many. Surely ATL crowd will be more receptive to her than Nashville.

Posted on February 7, 2011 at 9:01amIn today’s world all a person has to do (whether comedian, actor, singer, sports figure, etc) is mention God and they are “godly”. In the book of Acts it says: “And they were Christians first at Antioch”. The name was not given because of their fame — the name was given as a mark as a person that “acted like Christ”. Enough said about many that claim the title of “Christian”.

Posted on February 7, 2011 at 9:40amAnyone can CALL themselves a ‘Christian’. But are they a FOLLOWER OF CHRIST? I agree with FANCYDANCY, “By their fruits you shall know them.” (Matthew 7:20). I listen to lots of people, on a daily basis, claim they are Christians, yet they still continue in the lifestyle that, I will just bet, they wouldn’t do IN FRONT OF JESUS CHRIST (continuing in the same sin as before Christ – Christ will tell you He does not know you on Judgment Day). It is very sad and the Rapture will be a huge witness to those who CLAIM to belong to God, but have never changed their sorry, sad lives. But, we are to love the sinner and hate the sin, but to tell you the truth, in this day and age, I do not think there is any excuse. The minute the Rapture takes place, THEY WILL KNOW WHAT THEY HAVE DONE or NOT DONE.
I do not know if this lady is truly a child of the living God and I hope and pray she is, but, if she is hanging with sinners and not trying to share with them the gospel, then she will have to answer to God for that as to why she did not try to win a soul to Christ – we are talking ETERNITY with or without God. Her rewards will then, be few for someone who is saved. Yes, if they accepted Christ, but did not do anything for Him, wow, it will probably be worse than the sinner.
ETERNITY WILL MEAN EVERYTHING WHEN YOU DIE. No, none of us are perfect, but those of us who have accepted Jesus as our Lord and Savior, ARE FORGIVEN and will be going in that Rapture. Anyone else, WILL NOT: Acts 4:12.

Posted on February 7, 2011 at 1:59pmDon’t be fooled by this Dove Award garbage. These people are tied in with secular record labels and look out for the same thing as them: THE BOTTOM LINE. In fact, I think they’re worse than the seculars. At least the seculars don‘t tout themselves to be something they’re not. We already know they’re scum.
Having Sherri host this is nothing new. They have artists and musicians performing at this thing that aren’t even Chrisitan, so what’s the difference? I know for a fact that Dann Huff, former Whiteheart founder, performs at this thing every year and he doesn’t believe in the exclusivity of Jesus as saviour. He says there‘s many ways to Heaven and Jesus doesn’t have a monopoly on it. Many of his fellow artists and musicians in this industry feel the same way.
Dove Awards is just another sign of Laodicia. Rich in need of nothing building monuments unto themselves.

But, hey, on Judgment Day, she’ll get to stand before the throne and see if her name is in the Book of Life. Til then, good luck.
