There Really Is a ‘Guitar-Throttled‘ Rock Song About ’The Days That Reagan Ruled’

Conservative Singers & Performers | Kid Rock, Madison Rising & Five for Fighting

Conservative band Madison Rising is promoting small government and personal responsibility

The entertainment industry is known for its liberal ways. Musicians and performers, like their actor counterparts, generally embrace left-of-center politics. Performers like Pink!, The Dixie Chicks, Madonna and Green Day, among others, have made their allegiances known. But what about their conservative counterparts?

While the music world is certainly dominated by liberals, there are plenty of right-leaning musicians out there — some, of course, are more well-known than others. Nonetheless, while conservatives are underrepresented in film and music, there are some talented acts worth noting.

Conservative Singers & Performers | Kid Rock, Madison Rising & Five for Fighting

One of the newest bands on the scene, Madison Rising, is intent on making an impact on the music industry, while keeping an upbeat and patriotic tone. “Madison Rising promotes the principles of liberty, independence, smaller government and personal responsibility,” reads the band’s web site. The group has a new album, complete with songs about the Second Amendment, U.S. troops and the American dream.

Recently, the band released a music video that directly targets the Occupy Wall Street movement. Watch the band’s clip — a montage of pictures showcasing the shenanigans down at the Occupy Wall Street — which is set to one of its new tunes, “Honk if You Want Peace”:

Here’s another video for their tune, “Where Was the Media Then?,” which targets bias among mainstream journalists and reporters:

And would Madison Rising truly be a conservative band if it didn’t have a tune celebrating President Ronald Reagan? The song, “In the Days that Reagan Ruled,” meshes together good music with the former president’s words. Listen here:

Conservative Singers & Performers | Kid Rock, Madison Rising & Five for FightingComScore

Last week, Madison Rising appeared on GBTV, where the band members spoke with Blaze editor Scott Baker. Watch the guys discuss their musical journey:

Madison Rising, of course, isn’t the only conservative rock band. There’s also singer Ava Aston, who has seen her music make its way onto independent film soundtracks, has performed the national anthem at more than 100 events across America and has built an impressive following on social media.

Aston recently posted a music video for her song, “I Carry You With Me.” She dedicated it to U.S. troops, writing the following on her blog about Veterans’ Day (her husband served in the U.S. military as well):

Only one time in our history will we ever be able to have the opportunity to experience the calendar reflecting such a number as 11/11/11.  As unique as it is, there is no better holiday to fall on such a day.  We live in a world that is moving so fast it’s hard to sometimes catch the “moments”.  For many of you, you already know that this Greek Girl is big on family and big on giving back, but most of all I am big on honoring those who deserve it the most.

Here’s the video:

And let’s not forget about Krista Branch, the young woman whose song, “I am America,” was picked up by the Herman Cain campaign. Following the release of her single, Branch found herself getting booked to appear on Fox News and to perform for major conservative figures. On her web site, she is described as “a devoted wife, mother, patriot, and a woman of deep faith.”

Here’s the music video for “I am America”:

Branch has another tune, too, devoted to Israel. The song, “Lead Me On,” is a re-make and was originally sung by Amy Grant. Watch the video, below:

Joe Dan Gorman is a performer who launched “American Video Jukebox,” a video blog that features conservative artists and different VJs each week. The overall aim of the project is to support conservatives in entertainment (a related project called PoltiChicks.tv features Victoria Jackson). Here’s an episode of Jukebox, below:

Then there are other artists who have made the Billboard charts with well-known hits. There’s Kid Rock, who has an interesting history in the conservative movement (he’s written some sexually-graphic songs and he’s been the center of controversy among right-leaning pundits). But despite his less-than-prude lyrical history, Kid Rock is described by his liberal friend Sheryl Crow as “super conservative and very quiet.”

In 2008, he teamed up with the U.S. Army National Guard, to compose “Warrior,” a song that the military used in a massive public service campaign. “He is as real as it comes,” Col. Mike Jones of the Army National Guard’s strength maintenance office said at the time. “And he was unapologetic about supporting the Army National Guard recruiting program.”

Here’s the video for “Warrior”:

Last week, the New York Daily News reported that Kid Rock’s “Born Free” would be Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney’s 2012 campaign song:

The singer, whose real name is Robert James Ritchie, said on his website on Wednesday that Romney “and anyone else who wants to use my song do not need my permission. I said he could use it and I would say the same for any other candidate.”

Watch the video for “Born Free” below:

Earlier this year, the performer told CNN‘s Piers Morgan that while he doesn’t necessarily consider himself a Democrat or a Republican, he does lean right of center — especially when it comes to government intervention:

There’s also Five for Fighting’s John Ondrasik, who was a major John McCain supporter back in 2008. Ondrasik has supported American troops for years. This month, he’s performing at “Sean Hannity’s Holiday Concert Salute.”

Below, see a live performance during which he saluted the troops through his song, “Two Lights”:

These are only some of the musical acts that consider themselves right-of-center. Ranker has a list of celebrity rockers who are right-of-center. You can view it here.

Krista Branh has another great song:
    Remember Who We Are

For some Heavy Metal Patriotic songs we have Songs Of Liberty:

I love listening to their music while I work out.

Jon Schaffer who fronts Sons of Liberty is in another metal band (Iced Earth) and they have an awesome song about the revolution:

And Iced Earth’s whole album The Glorious Burden is incredible! Jon Schaffer was on with Judge Napalitano a while back and he’s great!

Thanks for the info, I had lost track of Jon, I knew Ripper Owens was fronting for Iced Earth since Halford went back to Judas Priest, but didn’t know about Jon. Disc II of Glorious Burden is amazing. Schaffer is an incredible composer and musician, I look forward to checking out Sons of Liberty tonight!

Not sure where Five Finger Death Punch’s ideals lie, but their video for their cover of Bad Company is plenty patriotic. It‘s the only song I’ve heard by them though because they seem too mainstream for my taste.

Don’t forget the band All That Remains. They may not be exactly main stream but I came across a picture a while back of the Phil Labonte wearing a 2nd amendment shirt so I dug around and sure enough he considers himself a libertarian. I read one of his interviews and he holds some fairly conservative views and I think some of the songs reflect that for example the song “Won’t Go Quietly” a sample of the song goes, “I’m not a man on a mission But a rising anger forces me to stand
And count my voice defiant I’m not opposed to the process But the facts before us demonstrate
That we must stand united Let substance bind us all And fact enforce our words
If need then nations fall and tremble Before free men united I know my past I know where I came from
I won‘t go quietly give in to none I know my past my voice makes me able We’ll come together we will be as one Look at the pattern We see our future’s being sold off right before our eyes”

They‘re a good band but some of their songs do have swearing in them and others do not so I’d recommend looking up the lyrics of each song first before I’d blare the music. But the song just quoted from is clean.

Cool, I’m glad I was able to turn people on to Sons of Liberty and Iced Earth.

I must admit I lose heart sometimes thinking about what lies ahead. Listening to this type of music reminds me I’m not alone. It also reminds me that our Founding Fathers had it much worse and they persevered.

Anyway here are some more artists and their songs:

      Liberty – Chris Ross
Born Again American – Various Artists

Individual rights are not subject to a public vote; a majority has no right to vote away the rights of a minority; the political function of rights is precisely to protect minorities from oppression by majorities (and the smallest minority on earth is the individual). – Ayn Rand

I have been saying for some time as a musician myself, the impact our stars be it rap/country/rock/R&B whatever the genre could have a massive impact on the bull happening right now. Where are they? We have become a Nation of cowards, afraid to speak out. They are more concerned about their wallets then America. And they have millions. We need our most influential stars to rise against the machine. Look at the 60′s during Vietnam there were many greats speaking out and hundreds of awesome anti war songs. Kudos to hank Williams, go figure it would take a country boy to stand up against corruption. I‘m not saying none other haven’t just need more and need it NOW.

Oh on a side note, I want to thank K-Mart, For there “nobody knows Christmas” campaign. This whole Happy Holidays crap is sickening at best.

As far as Iran and our Drone, something tells me the technology was “handed” to them. Just my opinion and I’m entitled to it.

I agree. I think the reason you won’t ever find a band that is similar to Rage in conservative circles is because, by definition, conservatives aren’t that angry. If they are, they are too considerate to raise a big fuss. Liberals fight back because they think they are powerless and a revolution is the only way to get what they want. Conservatives play by the rules and use the system to make change. So, there‘s an angry factor in the left that isn’t in the right. In short, you would have to have conservatives mad enough to scream and yell and they just don’t do that very oftent. They might say, “I’m mad as hell! Now lets go vote those guys out. By the way, I’m having a pot luck on Saturday if you guys want to come. We still need a side dish and paper cups.”. That’s kind of the way they handle conflict. It’s not nearly as dramatic as defecating in public or throwing Molotov cocktails.

Then there are bands like Metallica, which while not expressly conservative, play their fair share of patriotic and conservative songs, i.e. the song Don’t Tread on Me, released in 1991. Last and certainly not least, no conservative band list can be put out without mention of Toby Kieth, cause he’ll “put a boot in your a**, its the American way!”

Kid Rock is an amazing patriot. He just got off a whole “charity” tour around the US. He played small venues and found a cause in each town he visited. He does so many good things without wanting any credit or publicity.

If you are not a fan of his, I would suggest listening to his latest album “Born Free”; it just may suprise you. He is a chameleon when it comes to music and can do it all soooo well.

    He is a true patriot~

So you are saying that Reagan didn’t sign those into law? Are you trying to say he wasn’t responsible for Iran-Contra? He didn’t waste money on the retarded Star Wars program?

No, Reagan is not responsible for AIDS, and it also didn’t happen on his watch, it was just discovered then. It existed before he was president. However, Michele Bachmann has attempted to claim that Swine Flu is the Democrats’ fault, although the previous outbreak came under a Republican.

If you don’t think Reagan caused the downfall of the Soviet Union, you win the mentally challenged prize. Read the released KGB papers, post Berlin Wall, saying exactly that. Star Wars bankrupted the Soviet Union in more ways than one by their own admission. The left always seems to need to rewrite history.

As for the waste… why then are they fitting the new F35 and other aircraft with particle beam weapons? And from where did that technology come? (See the History Channel for video of fitting.)

The USSR was already falling apart and bankrupting itself. Reagan may have had a hand in spurring things here and there, but he was by no means a necessary component of the USSR’s downfall.

Have you never heard of the Soviet involvement in WWII? That was the deciding factor in Germany’s defeat in WWII, not the Americans.

The Soviets begged the US to re-invade Europe because they could not defeat Germany themselves. Meanwhile, they were getting their brains beaten-in by the Japanese in the Pacific to the point of abandoning Pacific offensive action altogether.

Nowhere have I said the US won the war single-handedly. That would be grossly inaccurate. I repeat, he US was the deciding factor.

The Soviet Union crumbled under the weight of Reagan/Thatcher leadership including Pershing 2 missile deployment and Star Wars. THEY SAID SO THEMSELVES.

I’m not defending the Soviets by any means, you erroneously made that assumption. Rather, I’m merely stating facts that you refuse to acknowledge because they go against your belief that the U.S. is the core ingredient to everything that has gone right in the past 100 years.

If you think the Constitution was based on Christianity you are just flat out wrong. Just because there are principles that are also Christina principles included in the Constitution does not mean it is based on Christianity or that it promotes Christianity in any way. Similarly, just because someone believes that killing is wrong doesn’t mean that he believes in the Ten Commandments. It was known that killing was wrong before Charlton Heston starred in that movie, which, by the way, was clearly a piece of propaganda for the NRA!

Nice way to dodge the issue about Texas rewriting the history of slavery in its textbooks. The fact that slaves were sold by other Africans to the Europeans doesn’t change the fact that slavery took place and the U.S. had slaves. The South just wants to whitewash its history and act like it never did anything wrong.

I’ve made no such refusal about recognizing others contributions to world events. Nor did I say Christianity was the basis of the Constitution, I did say religious principles were. Deism in particular.

If we are going to have historically accurate text books about slavery, let’s make sure all the facts are in it. Not just the white-guilt, leftist ones…

In broad terms even leftists have called the 20th century the American century for our prominent contributions. If you don’t like them or want to downplay them, fine. It’s just not accurate to events. And the sky in your world is orange if you say so, I guess.

We call this period, 1982-2007, the twenty-five year boom–the greatest period of personal and business wealth creation in the history of the planet. In 1980, the net worth–assets minus liabilities–of all U.S. households and business … was $25 trillion in today’s dollars. By 2007, net worth was just shy of $57 trillion. Adjusting for inflation, more wealth was created in America in the twenty-five year boom than in the previous two hundred years.
When President Reagan entered office in 1981, he faced three worsening recessions starting in 1969 were about to culminate in the worst of all in 1981-1982, with unemployment soaring into double digits at a peak of 10.8%. At the same time America suffered roaring double-digit inflation, with the CPI registering at 11.3% in 1979 and 13.5% in 1980 (25% in two years). The Washington establishment at the time argued that this inflation was now endemic to the American economy, and could not be stopped, at least not without a calamitous economic collapse.
President Reagan campaigned on an explicitly articulated, four-point economic program to reverse this slow motion collapse of the American economy:
      1. Cut tax rates to restore incentives for economic growth, which was implemented first with a reduction in the top income tax rate of 70% down to 50%, and then a 25% across-the-board reduction in income tax rates for everyone. The 1986 tax reform then reduced tax rates further, leaving just two rates, 28% and 15%.
      2. Spending red
