There’s Hope for Future Generations: Good Kids Exist… and We’ve Got the Proof

Washington DC can learn a lot from two young men who happen to be on different sides of the (baseball) aisle. Ian and Nicholas are young baseball fans.  Ian loves the Diamondbacks and Nicholas thinks the Brewers are the best.

Both young men were at Chase Field in Arizona yesterday, watching the Diamondbacks take on the Brewers. Between innings, The Milwaukee second baseman, Rickie Weeks tossed a ball into the stands and Nicholas fumbled it… Someone else handed the souvenir baseball to Ian, who was pleased with his good fortune until he saw how upset Nicholas was over missing the toss. That’s when the young Diamondback fan made the “play of the day.”

Ian (who appeared to be at the game with two other young friends) did not need any prodding. He just walked over and gave the ball to Nicholas.

With the call are announcers Darren Sutton and Mark Grace:

For his unselfish act, Ian was rewarded with a visit to the broadcast booth, tickets to another game, and autographed baseball bat from his favorite player.

Moments like that kind of renew your faith in the future.

H/T to MLB and Yahoo Sports (and of course to young Ian – well done!)

yes indeed, if the “man in the red shirt” did tell him or not, the good deserve to have a light shine on them. All winners:)

      Our next George Washington? :)
It’s nice to see glorified good behavior and not vice versa. I’m still horrified that Hollywood is glorifying Weather Underground. No honor there.

Don’t want to be the downer, but the kid was told to give the ball to the other kid. Let’s tell the story how it really happen. It was nice of the kid to do so, but he really didn’t have a choice!

I think the boy gave up the ball on his own. His parents must be very proud they are raising such a gentleman.

I‘ve looked at the video 8 times and I can’t see any adult telling him to give the ball away. The man in the white shirt behind Ian talks to one of Ian’s friends who was giving him some money. The man in the red shirt and white ball cap is eating and looks toward Ian but he was out of the frame so fast I couldn’t tell if he told Ian or not.

Um, Ian does deserve credit for being a good kid but didn’t anyone notice the man in the red shirt who told him to give it to the other boy?

Yeah, and in todays day and age most kids would have flipped him off or told him to go #$% himself. At least the kid listened to an adult. Something thats very rare now-a-days.

I did notice that. If he gave up the ball because he wanted to that‘s great but I don’t think it was right for someone to tell him to give it up. He did catch the ball, he didn’t take it away from the other kid.

I am impressed with that boy and the announcers who pointed it out. Good deeds don’t always need to be rewarded but this was nice.

We have many many wonderful kids, who have not had their minds twisted or who are not brainwashed, children who are good God fearing and love Jesus, these are the children we must reach so they might be able to help kids thier own age, in the future we will see many many Patriots come forward to save this nation and they will be our children and grandchildren. Praise God! Praise the parents who raised these children!.

The administration contacted the IRS immediately to make sure the privileged lad contributed his “fair share,” and was notified of his obligation to remit taxes owed on the value of the tickets and autographed bat.

In a related story, a local progressive lawmaker is proposing legislation that would require the Diamondbacks to distribute an equal amount of tickets and autographed bats to all of their less advantaged fans. Funding for the program’s oversight committee is expected to…

I’m so glad Ian was acknowledged for his selfless behavior. Kindness is it’s own reward, but when everyone is so quick to criticize and complain these days, it seems as though not many bother to praise and give credit. And that’s a crying shame.

    Good job, Ian’s parents!!
