These Abandoned Train Stations From Around the World Maintain Former Elegance Even in Ruin

Trains and their stations hearken back to a time when travel was a luxury, not a cattle call. When three-piece suits were standard issue, not p.j. pants and an over-sized Disney t-shirt. Although as this form of transportation has fallen to the wayside in many areas of the world in favor of air travel, the stations maintain timeless elegance, even as they fall apart.

Flavorpill, which states it’s a sucker for photos of “abandoned and decaying spaces,” put together a gallery of trains stations from around the world in all states of ruin. We at the Blaze find a certain fascination in abandoned buildings as well. Check out our posts about the abandoned leper colony in NYC and Chinese ghost malls.

Here are some images of what Flavorpill pulled together.

      They probably will be – train stations again. Once the all the foolish socialist governments have destroy their currencies, people will no longer be able to afford to fly, as well as all the airlines will be broke and out of business.

    This is what happens as a result of Keynesian economic policies.

    Notice that the stations in the USA have their windows smashed out and are heavily damaged.

      Charles, the only trashed up one was in france. Manhattan may be a filthy city but it is still far cleaner than paris …

      I went to the website they mentioned http://www.flavorwire.com/291538/beautiful-abandoned-train-stations-from-all-over-the-world?all=1
      The one in Michigan has been destroyed thoroughly. I’m sure france is not a much better place than Michigan for places like this though. If I were to find a beautiful abandoned structure anywhere in the world, but especially anywhere in the USA I would never ever post any information on the web which would lead anyone else to be able to locate it. That gets them destroyed. Especially in the USA, unfortunately

    We have one here in Lansing that is amazing. They are building a power plant on the spot now. Not a coal powered plant but, a gas powered one. Which was dictated to us. We have to get rid of the coal powered one. But, the old train station is being incorporated into the building of the plant. We were able to buy the land for $1 if we restored the train station.

    Living here in NYC, I think it‘s an embarrassment that the old NYC station picture here looks more clean and elegant then most of today’s NYC train stations.

    they are trying to FORCE US back to the rails by getting us out of our cars. The so called global warming (renamed climate change to try to fool us) is the excused.

    Trains are the transportation of the future. The socialist government will restrict air travel to the political elite.

    I always thought that Arlo Guthrie’s song – City of New Orleans, about the impending demise of the railroad in the U.S. to be so very sad a song. These pictures speak of a bygone era; of a forgotten gentility, replaced by the boorish, vile behaviour of today’s elite, personified by the likes of the Real Housewives.

    Ours train stations would look the same if the Government didnt prop them up with our monsy….Or maybe if our economy was worth a damn and we didnt prop them up we could make Malls or Super Hotels out of them…They sure cant make it without taxpayer money.

      I don’t think so. Do you live in your basement? There are many a beautiful station in ruin here in America. Why The Blaze didn’t post photos of those, we’ll never know. Also, many of our stations have already been re-purposed for other uses, thankfully not into tasteless super malls.

      @Melika

      Actually, the link “gallery of train stations” takes you to the Flavorpill site where the only the New York City and Buffalo stations are shown. I don’t think the Blaze had much to do with the selection offered,
