These Are the Highlights of Christie’s Oprah Interview: 2016 Plans, Weight, & Advice for Obama

Oprah Interviews Chris Christie About 2016, His Weight, President Obama & More

New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, though he’s only been in office for two years, has earned the admiration of a great number of Republicans across America. The first-term governor disappointed many of his fans late last year when he declined to run for the U.S. presidency. In an interview that aired on Sunday evening on OWN, Christie opened up to Oprah about 2016 presidential plans, his family, his weight and plenty more.

When it comes to a run in 2016, the governor told the queen of talk that it is dependent upon what happens during this year’s presidential race. Additionally, he talked about his own political experience and claimed that another four years would afford him more time to prepare for such a prospect.

“There‘s nothing more unattractive than getting there and feeling like you’re not ready,” he said. “The worst feeling in the world would be to walk into the Oval Office on Jan. 20, 2013 … and say, ‘Oh man, now what do I do?’”

“I’ll be much more ready four years from now than I am now,” he said.

In addressing chatter last year surrounding whether or not he was weighing presidential prospects, he said, “The needle never moved from ‘no’ to ‘yes.’” However, he did explain that the influx of individuals who asked him to run made him briefly consider all of his options.

In the end, an internal compass of sorts told him that running for the presidency wasn’t in the best interest of the nation — or himself, for that matter. He told Oprah that he enjoys his job as governor and that he worked hard to secure it.

Watch him discuss these issues, below:

In another portion of the interview, Oprah asked Christie what his advice would be for President Obama. Rather than delving into 2012 campaign advice, Christie talked about what his guidance for the president would have been one year ago. He also differentiated between what it means to be loved versus respected:

In addition to the political chatter, Christie provided personal reflections about his weight — an issue that, unfortunately, seems to emerge from time to time among critics.

“I don’t like being overweight. I know I‘d be healthier and better off if I weren’t,” he explained.

Additionally, he admitted to feeling some guilt regarding the matter, but sought to dismiss the notion that he’s undisciplined because of it:

A more humorous portion of the interview unfolded when Christie told Oprah that he and his wife once broke into the dining hall at the University of Delaware to steal some doughnuts.

Watch a WTXF-TV report that highlights this portion of the interview, below:

All you arrogant, shallow fools, commenting on appearance. Look to history for some of our past Presidents, would you say the same about Taft? Cleveland? How about Washington, with his teeth? Lincoln with his extreme gaunt and oversized physique? Our obsession with looks is a large part of our problem. After all, obama was lauded for how “cool” he looked…..how well he could read a teleprompter – and he is driving the country off a cliff. C’mon, people. Argue policies, argue platform – argue philosophy – are you so shallow that all you see is weight?

A fat guy like Christie, is not that different from a drug addict, or alcoholic.
He lacks self control, and like a drug addict, he will likely die early, due to his lack of control. I think it shows weakness, and poor judgement. I believe the president should at least care about his health, and his life.

Now that she has her own television network (along with her own religion because she thinks she is God) she is not doing well being on the right sooo much, so she is trying to increase her ratings by having a conservative, well liked, Republican on her show….just like her best bud Obama thinks everything is about him, this was all about her.

I‘m shocked Christie would sit down with this freaking liberal to start with since she is such a close friend of Obama’s and was one of those Chicago people pushing him to run—remember also she was the one who got Obama to go to Wright’s church as she used to attend there as well. I like Christie, but I don’t have a lot of trust for him because he seems to have a lot of liberal mindsets which I have never figured out! @Joker50: I‘m sure you’re kidding. We all know sustainable is just a term. The real drive behind the so called sustainable development is the UN Agenda21. I live in NJ and looked into some of teh drives behind this movement. My area falls under the Deleware Valley Regional PLanning Commission. Their stated goal is “environmental justice” or EJ as they refer to it. This means that cities with low income are to be catered to with funding since they might not have the same transportation system available to them as the rest of the state. And this is done by classifying those without the means for a car to be considered a minority in need as calculated by their “Degree of Disadvantag” methodology. This is just one of the ways they feel should be used to equal the playing field.
This whole green movement under the guise of sustainability is a farce. I could go on abour how the feds have taken control of farmlands under these programs. You’ve read about the couple in Minn. who was told to move thier house 50 feet because it didn’t fit into the “updated land use plan”. Well this is all the same part of Agenda21.

I could go on and on about the abuses that will take place and those that have but read it for yourself. Agena21 Principle 5: “All States and all people shall cooperate in the essential task of eradicating poverty as an indispensible requirement for sustainable development, in order to decrease the disparities in standards of living and better meet the needs of the majority of the people around the world”.

Agenda21 is the biggest threat to this country. Bigger than Iran, the Taliban or Obama. Unless we take out cities back from the progressives running these programs, we‘re going to lose property rights and that the very foundation this country’s freedom is founded on.

after seeing previews of this interview on other tv shows, i wanted to watch oprah’s body language when the governor criticized her man (obama). i was not disappointed. she shifted in her seat and her left arm went across her torso. she was in charge of any editing and you could see her directing the interview re his children at the dining room table. when the interview concluded, the governor went to hug her and she was clearly awkward. she wanted the ratings numbers and that outweighed her clear discomfort for someone who potentially could unseat her man. it was oprah who had a big hand in putting this man in the white house bolstered by a so-called media who thought and still think he literally walks on water. this show was done for her fledgling tv network and it got me to watch because i wanted to see and interview with a man who would not mince words. he comes across as real. oprah didn’t anticipate that. she admitted at the top of the show that she rarely interviews politicians. he’s clearly different. she really wasn’t prepared for his genuineness and that showed on camera.

Good God, look at the size of that man. If he puts on any more weight he will collapse in on himself like some kind of blackhole.

No I am deeply flawed in many areas. But I have some self-control and am not morbidly-obese like this tub of lard is.

If these are your two least favorite people, I can’t help but think you have some odd values.
I may take issue with both, but there are many many many others way above them on that list of least favorite people. Ahmadinejad, for example, ought to be able to beat them out of that title pretty easily in everybody’s book.

Oprah does a good job at interviews, she seems able to keep her left wing tucked away and actually listens to the responses.

All her ticks come out when she interviews her lovers rivals. Her TICK or TELL is a butt shift adjustment or swivel technique commonly known to man as shifting.

I’m glad he does, maybe he can talk some sense into these people. It’s the only explaination I can think of.

He almost knocked her over when he stood over her clasping her hands. Luckily Oprah gained for the interview to keep herself anchored in the chair.

So you would rather have a thin man who would take this country from the strong and free to weak and poor? Then that’s what you got it.
