‘They Came With a Mean Spirit’: Maxine Waters Trashes the Tea Party — Again

Congresswoman Maxine Waters (D-Calif.), never one to mince words when it comes to the Tea Party, launched a new salvo Sunday saying its members have a “mean spirit.”
Video of Waters shows her giving a speech and explaining what happened when the Democrats lost control of the House of Representatives after the 2010 midterm elections.
“We had a new kind of spirit that came into the Congress and it was not a good one, they kinda called themselves [the] Tea Party,” Waters said. “I don‘t know what party they’ve been to, that must have been some bitter tea.”
“They came with a mean spirit,” she continued. “And now they want to cut the food stamps. They don’t want to fund education. They want to give all the tax breaks to the richest people. And then they’re trying to do away with the health care reform that we worked so hard for.”
She also claimed she was being attacked because she’s “trying to help poor people and people of color.”
According to the Right Scoop, Waters’ speech actually came during a Sunday church service.
