‘They Knew They Messed With the Wrong Girl’: Female Jogger and Kung Fu Expert Takes on Two Teens Who Accosted Her

Twenty-three-year-old Priscilla Dang has been taking martial arts lessons since she was 5. At just 5 feet 4 inches tall, she can’t stand to see women mistreated. That’s why earlier this month, her Kung Fu training kicked in when she said she was accosted while out for a run.

Dang was jogging near her home in Vancouver, Wash. on June 14 when she said two male teens approached her on bikes. According to the Columbian, one of them distracted her with a smirk while the other rode up close behind and firmly smacked her buttocks.

“I grabbed him and said, ‘You need to apologize, and he did,’” Dang told KATU-TV.

But she said things escalated though when the second teen called her a derogatory term.

“It just made something snap in me, like, it’s not OK. It’s so disrespectful,” she said.

Her response? She punched him twice in the face.

“He started coming in for a few, and I was lucky enough to dodge his shots. I came up for another one and I got him good, and I think that upset him,” she recalled.

According to the Columbian, the teen got off his bike to fight her, and after the second hit, took out a pocketknife with a four-inch blade.

“That was when my instinct came in to back off — OK, don’t get so close because he might grab me,” she told KATU.

She said she used the teen’s bike like a shield as a passing car pulled over and a man jumped out. Dang said she ran toward him, yelling that the teens had a knife. The teens rode off as the man shouted for someone else to call 911.

Police ultimately arrested 18-year-old Josiah Sullivan and booked him on suspicion of fourth-degree assault, a gross misdemeanor. The second teen, a 16-year-old, was not taken into custody.

Dang said she thinks they got the message: “I think they knew they messed with the wrong girl.”

    She should have not used agression!!! She should have backed down, turned and walked away in hopes that the thugs would not chase her down to rob, rape, beat, or kill her. Wait…thats the liberal answer.

Now she will have to watch her back, because kids like this will probably try to get even with her. I have a feeling she will be able to hold her own though. Gotta love stories like this one.

      Love it. Fun facts. Kung FU is the oldest Martial Arts,and can be traced back 2,000 years. Invented by a female monk who wanted to protect herself. Pretty much all other Martial Arts came from Kung Fu.

      After the kid groped her then appoligized for it. The other kid slurred her and then she punched him for it. As justified as it may have been, She actually attacked the other kid. If insulting other people is assualt and makes it ok to defend yourself by punching them, my High school owes me for all those detentions they made me serve.

      One teen apologized for what he did and she hit the other only after he called her names! No thats the liberal answer! When names are used then its OK to set them straight with violence thats the liberal answer esp if they are racial names. Then they upped the ante by pulling knives! She’s lucky someone came along! This is not the classic case your looking for to pull your Johnny Bravo approvals. She made her point with the first kid and he apologized. She should have moved on with names and all! If he then decided to attack her then she was well within her rights to defend and stop the aggressor. Thats not the story here so lets not make it into something its not.

      I do not think she did the right thing. You should not fight more than one person unless you are will to use deadly force. Even if you have greater skill, two people have 4 hands and 4 feet and this case a knife. She could easily have been killed. If choose to fight, you need to quickly incapacitate the first opponent. If you feel you can not incapacitate the first opponent, you should escape.

      Remember, kids are taught, that if it feels good do it. They could have killed her and if there were no witnesses, then they got away with it. It all comes down to accountability. If you know that someday you will be held accountable for every Word, Deed, Vote, Support and action you have done in your life.       In self defense class, which was mandatory at the all girls highschool that I attended, that instead of kicking a guy in the b@lls (apparently some guys actually get off on that) you should grab, twist and tear!       If she has had martial arts training since she was 5 I’d think that she should have taken the knife away from the punk and laid him out.
      Then again the courts would say she is a dangerous weapon due to her training.

      They didn’t get their butts kicked. She was on the defense using the bicycle to fend off a knife attack and someone else bailed her out. At 5′4″ you need a gun as an equalizer in an attack like this. If she goes for her jogs without one she’s foolish.

      Loriann12: You are so right, I am 62 and feel so alone and not needed, and so out of touch because I no longer earn enough money to buy things for my children in their 30′s. They are wonderful, but I’m seeing the same thing from other women, expecially divorced ones. The father still has money so they side with him.
