‘They Were There for Us’: Why are DOJ ‘Peacemakers’ Helping Trayvon Martin Protesters?

They Were There for Us: DOJ Peacemakers Helping Trayvon Martin Protesters

(Photo: US Department of Justice)

Have you ever heard of the Community Relations Service?  Some Trayvon Martin protesters have.

That’s because the Community Relations Service (CRS), a little-known branch of the Department of Justice, has apparently been helping protesters angry over the Trayvon Martin shooting, according to the Orlando Sentinel.

The paper explains:

When civil-rights organizers wanted to demonstrate, these federal workers taught them how to peacefully manage crowds.

They even arranged a police escort for college students to ensure safe passage for their 40-mile march from Daytona Beach to Sanford to demand justice.

[...]

“They were there for us,” said the Rev. Valarie Houston, pastor of Allen Chapel AME Church, a focal point for the community after the unarmed teen’s death. She met the [CRS] peacekeepers there for the first time during a March 20 town-hall meeting. “We felt protected,” she said. [Emphasis added]

They Were There for Us: DOJ Peacemakers Helping Trayvon Martin Protesters

Dressed in navy blue windbreakers, polo shirts, and dark sunglasses, the “secretive” crew seemingly resembles a group of federal agents.  Their caps say “Justice Department,” and they say they will remain “as long as [they're] needed.”

“We are unique in that we don’t investigate or prosecute but foster communication between communities,” said acting Community Relations Service director Becky Monroe. “The real goal is to build local capacity to deal with these issues.”

So why was the department involved? The CRS’ website describes the organization’s mission:

[The CRS] is the only Federal entity dedicated to assisting state and local government units, private and public organizations, and community groups with preventing and resolving racial and ethnic tensions, incidents, and civil disorders. The CRS works to restore stability and accord.

[...]

[The] CRS works to address the perception of racism, which sometimes may prove to be as upsetting to communities as actual racism. CRS enables communities to develop and implement their own solutions to reducing racial and ethnic tensions by facilitating the development of viable, mutual understandings and agreements as alternatives to coercion or litigation.

They Were There for Us: DOJ Peacemakers Helping Trayvon Martin Protesters

Since Trayvon Martin’s death at the hands of George Zimmerman over a month ago, racial tensions have indeed been high both in Florida, where the 17-year old was killed, and around the country.

The New Black Panthers offered a bounty on Zimmerman’s head, and public figures like Al Sharpton threatened to escalate civil disobedience if Zimmerman was not immediately taken in to custody.

(Related: Eric Holder Praises Al Sharpton during speech)

However, it’s worth asking: Is the DOJ’s presence, seemingly in a supportive role of the protesters, working to undercut the very mission of the organization?

Then again, Glenn Beck wondered recently if someone intervened and told protesters and community leaders to tone it down — could that have been the work of the “peacekeepers?”

Just more of that Alinsky modeled “ community organizing” which is used to push the agenda of the organizers. But then, that is what Obama spent his early career doing in Chicago. And he brought his ACORN friends to Washington to continue the “ work ” he started there . Not surprised by anything we‘re seeing because I’ve studied Obama’s past.

“CRS works to address the perception of racism, which sometimes may prove to be as upsetting to communities as actual racism.”

Yes, but they don’t work towards revealing the truth to the crazed, stupid mobs. All they do is cater to them in as a jesture of appeasement. The mobs still believe the lies of Jesse and Al and all the rest.

      The injustice here is overwhelming.

What is probably a truly innocent man has been scourged by lying black racists who are eager to believe anything their demagogues tell them. They don’t care what the truth is. I truly believe they just absolutely love to hate…..especially whitey. And once again as in theTawana Brawley Brawley case, the Duke LaCrosse case and the Jena incident, this has been another evil, criminal black perp who has been deified by the black hatemongers. He was just the usual black teen thug with the usual criminal tendencies, found with the usual kind of loot from burglaries, involved with drugs and directing hate speech against whitey, who was casing homes when he was spotted.

Sharpton said Martin reminded him of Jesus Christ.

Such a blasphemy as to put Christ in the same league as a vicious black criminal thug. How appalling.

Nor did I. So, which one of us is the bigger idiot?

These idiots are assisting a MOB who want nothing less than a Lynching and the repeal of the Stand Your Ground laws. If the government really wanted peace between races they’d tell the MOB that the courts will decide, shut up, go home, quit rioting (and threatening to riot) just because you don’t like the facts. They are NOT about peace. They are about appeasement and coddling morons who threaten violence.

Their boss needs votes. Black votes. Racist votes. Guilty White votes. They can’t do anything to make life better for anyone so they divide and pit group against group for nothing but more power and control. SOP.

When you learn what the phrase “Government is like Fire” means then you’ll begin to understand why the world is such a mess. We build campfires but we always end up with a forest fire (and some idiot like Romney or Obama with a big can of gasoline to make things “better”).

The irony of your attempt to lump all “us guys” as trying to exploit racially-charged situations is completely laughable in light of what we see from the race pimps who descended on Sanford to agitate and threaten violence and the White House who directly support them. Something that never would have even made the news if both were the same color (like it is 93% of the time)? Like that?”

Yes shutting down a massive group of legal protesters sounds like a great way to prevent violence. Besides, the reason they are outraged is because the Sanford Police Dept did a subpar job following up on this event, without a doubt.

According to internationally known lawyer and legal expert, Alan Dershowitz (I heard this soundbite on a local Denver radio show) there is so little evidence to have brought this indictment (from the special prosecutor) for murder, that any and every judge seeing the writ should dismiss the case for lack of evidence.

Since he is also a well known liberal, I tend to believe Mr. Dershowitz’ sincerity, since he is a supporter of the side who wishes to avenge Trayvon Martin. Do you really think this will be dismissed? And if it *is* thrown out, then what? The blacks in this country don’t really care about legality and justice for Mr. Zimmerman, they just want somebody to die in retaliation for Martin’s death.

Also, why is it that virtually *every* time I have heard a news report about this case, Martin is referred to as an “unarmed 17 year old”?

What does “unarmed” have to with **anything**? An unarmed 17 year old can kill and maim just as well as an armed one. And what does “17” years old have to with anything? The week this case was unearthed in the press, a **17** year old black man was convicted in Florida for killing two English tourists.

Only a complete cretin would be swayed by the fact that Trayvon Martin was “17 and unarmed”.

@CATB…yes indeed ‘they’ are…emboldend enough to do and say anything…I live in NJ and work in Manhattan, between the PATH Train Station out of Newark, and my destination…WTC downtown, I am ‘approached’ and eyeballed by all sorts, from the OWS idiots to Nation of Islam Barkers , to the average street cretin…I make sure I always have a ‘little’ friend with me,I am lucky, I am licensed to carry due to the line of work I am in, and I take NO chances with this ‘crowd’ of heathens…they are deadly serious and just ‘itching’…stay vigilant and make sure your friend knows how to use and properly handle the CCW…at least in FLA you still are ‘protected by laws’ as a citizen..up here, too many innocent cannot protect themselves…Keep the Faith…;-)

@CATB…. Smart woman… I suggest more women get their carry permit. Do not let what happened to Channon Christian and Chris Newsom happen to anyone else… Right… This is the story that was barely a blip in the news. Four Black guys and one Black woman carjacked this couple, raped, and murdered both of them. Google it. Unbelievable. Don’t ever, ever be a victim.

So Martin didn’t have the right to not be a victim what was his. The way you say it’s shoot first ask questions later. He did have the right to be afraid of a man who approached him. You just told someone that her friend should carry something because someone approached her. Thats the samething that happened with Martin. Zimmerman followed him.

George Zimmerman has had his civil rights violated by county, state and Federal. He has had his rights violated by various news organizations who post inflammatory rhetoric to use against him. George Zimmerman has been made a dog for the media of this country and spineless men and women have used this man to enhance their own agendas. I would venture to say this man has been stripped of all his civil rights and thrown in jail. He had the right to carry a weapon, and there is no one who can tell that he acted without cause. He has witnnesses to the contrary. I hope he sues everyone who has interefered with his freedom of movement and being able to pursue happiness. These Federal people who have used organizations against a citizen should be held accountable and the heads of these agencies fired for their parts in this. When this man gets his legal problems straightened out, he should have enough money to retire and fortify his home for safety and when anyone trespasses upon his property I hope they are put out of their misery. Best of luck to George Zimmerman. The bunch of clowns who are trying to use this for gun control, better know, when people want guns or weapons, they will get them. You will never be safe for trying to overthrow this country and make our people defenseless. It has been tried. It will not work.

Just wait until the race pimps and gun grabbers realize that a disproportionate number of burglers killed in home invasions are black and quite a few of the shooters are white. More than that, many shooters are protected by the so called “castle doctrine”. I‘m actually surprised Rev Al hasn’t seized on this one yet.

I totally agree you and HKS…… The DOJ refuses to prosecute people of African Heritage….there by basically giving permission to do and or say anything they want. Even members of Congress have convicted Mr. Zimmerman on the house floor……Does anyone not think that a race war is being manufactured. Beware America and don’t play into their game

Less the 75 years ago, a leader created an army and police force for his own personal use. Everyone pledged their allegiance to him, not their country. They were the SS and Gestapo. Remember how that turned out?

The DOJ isn’t looking for “justice for Trayvon”, they are looking for a campaign issue to get their base fired up.
