Liberal Blog: It’s So Hot From Climate Change This Street Lamp Melted…Oops, Actually, It Was From a Fire

Think Progress on Thursday was forced to back down from the claim that “it’s so hot in Oklahoma that the streetlights are melting.”
As evidence, the left-leaning blog had posted a photo of a street lamp that was in fact partially melted:

“WOW. It’s so hot in Oklahoma that the streetlights are melting. Today could be the hottest day in Oklahoma City history, 114 degrees,” the post stated. “Meanwhile, a senator from Oklahoma, James Inhofe (R), is a major climate denier.”
The problem?
It seems the light had actually melted due to a dumpster fire the night before.
Oklahoma City’s KFOR-TV — which first posted the photo — put up a second one on Facebook with the note: “The cause was not the Oklahoma heat but a burning dumpster over the weekend.”

Think Progress subsequently updated their post with the following:
Correction: The lamp was standing pretty close to a recent fire, so it’s likely they didn’t melt from the heat. Here’s what the photographer said:
“Being the person that actually took this photo, I’d say that this was due to a fire semi-close by coupled with the unbelievable heat we are experiencing. Still an amazing photo and not fake as many are saying on here. Enjoy!”
All that said, it’s still very hot.
Sen. Inhofe, who was hit with tweets over the initial photo, said in a statement afterward to the Daily Caller: “This isn’t the first time alarmists have tried these stunts and it certainly won’t be the last — when will they finally realize they’ve lost this debate?”

They have no problem with telling lies because it is about population control, control of the masses and of course control of the money. The elite money mongers have the stupid earth worshipers out trying to alarm everyone into thinking the planet is going to melt if another person or animal is born or God forbid that any fossil fuel is burned. There are no facts to prove their theory, Chicken Little! Yes, it’s hot. Droughts have happened ever since history has been recorded and that was way before we were burning oil, coal and natural gas.

Notice how the blogger still tries to tie it into alleged “global warming”, by saying, “coupled with the unbelievable heat.” So even though it wasn’t “global warming”, it was still “global warming”.

Until we start breaking records by 3-5 degrees and the Ocean becomes less than 705 of the earth’s surface, I am going to have a hard time buying in on the “man made” excuse.

Posted on August 3, 2012 at 2:38pm113 is a tad warm. I live in an area where the average temp for July is 100. Never seen it over 124. Saw 30 days over 110 in a row when I was a kid back in the 50′s. Get out of the air conditioning and get acclimated and it won’t kill you. Time to go do some welding.

Many Americans are listening to these dolts and believing the foolish blather (and the lies)Think Progress spews out at us. They are fools at best, but maybe a whole lot worse.
Americans have to wake up. Our children are being influenced and taught by fools who pass along the crap invented by organizations like Think Progress. You can’t allow your kids to be brain washed by some leftist buffoon. You can’t allow them to be taught by stupid people. Go to school with your kids and sit in the classroom. Find out what your kids are being told and taught. If they won’t let you in, vote the school board out of office. Sue them for the right to be in your child’s classroom. Take turns with other parents and have a watchdog in every classroom – every day.

but there is nothing mythological about climate change. i’ll trust the Scientists over el Rushbo and the conspiracy theorists. sure, it’s a form of “faith” to put your trust in a group of people, but IMO they have earned the benefit of the doubt. and fyi it’s not blind faith at all – i’ve looked at as much data as a layperson could be expected to do. i’ve checked out both sides of the argument. the denial side refutes basic science, so to me it’s hard to believe anything they say on the matter.

Posted on August 3, 2012 at 6:51pm@Philly: I don’t know how old you are, but I think it’s probably safe to assume you are not as old as I. Since I started to become aware of political issues back around 1968, I have heard the following:
1. The earth is entering a new ice age.
2. The world will undergo mass starvation if the population increases.
3. We have to get rid of DDT because it’s causing deformed tree frogs (now, more kids die of malaria in Africa than die of AIDS, but you never hear about it.)
4. We’re running out of oil.
5. We’re running out of water.
6. The oceans are drying up.
7. We’re running out of fish.
8. The world will be just desert within the next two decades due to deforestation.
9. (Insert latest “scientifically-proven” natural phenomenon that will kill us all here)
I didn’t fall for them then, and I’m not gonna do it now. Maybe the climate is changing, but is it due to man’s activities? I’m not convinced of that yet. To be succinct, “fool me once, shame on you . . .” I think you know the rest.
