This Chinese Baby Was Born With Two Heads

BEIJING — A hospital in southwestern China says conjoined twin girls with a single body and two heads have been born at its facility.

A staffer surnamed Wang at Suining City Central Hospital in Sichuan province says the girls were born Thursday.

Wang said Tuesday the parents, who are farmers, did not want to have the babies at first, fearing they could not afford to keep them alive. She said they transferred the twins to a hospital in the nearby metropolis of Chongqing to be examined by experts.

The local Huaxi Metropolis Daily reported the twins weighed 9 pounds (4 kilograms) and measured 20 inches (51 centimeters). They have two spines and two esophaguses and share other organs. Doctors were quoted as saying it would be nearly impossible to separate them.

Sometimes the worst conditions turn out to be a blessing like Joni Erickson Tada. She had a diving accident that left her a quadriplegic. She is now an author and an artist.       I have no idea what I would do, but I know many women will abort a baby if he’s going to be born with Downs or some sickness like that. Is abortion murder, sure, but would you want to be born like that baby? Sounds like a really hard life to me. I know that on TV they always do inspiring stories about people who eat with their feet because they have no hands, but would you want to be the inspiring character?     I am not joking about what I am going to say here. The fact that there are 2 heads would make this 2 children. The law in China prevents couples from having more than 1 sibling, unless you have a political exemption. I don’t know what this means for these children, but I bet you will not here about this story after a week.

      americans being called dog eat dog nation is really a very ignorant-statement! what about countries that raise dogs to EAT? or vick to fight to the death? just maybe these little girls are a sign from god warning us about the chinese-gov. and the obama-gov., about them both being two-faced? still births in my opinion is a work of god, maybe something was severally wrong with the baby? we raised 6 healthy children and have always had at least 3 dogs some lived to the age of 18 yrs. old,a couple never made it to 5 yrs, point being, we took care of them and loved them and was very saddened when they passed! maybe these two girls will survive and become a symbol of peace?

    @illuminoddy…hmmm..yeah…let me think about how to respond to that one. So capitalism makes fun of conjoined baby girls with one body, two heads? Did I, did I miss something? It think the point of the story was “hey, everyone, it’s a modern medical miracle! They didn’t die in childbirth, and gee, we don’t know what the future holds for these children (notice I didn’t call them circus-freaks as you assumed all capitalists would) but they are getting medical attention and we wish nothing but the best for them! You see, contrary to what you might think, capitalists (and by capitalists I assume you mean americans, because after all, the only hate-filled, oppressive, get-over-on-the-rest-of-the-world-at-any-cost capitalists are americans, am I right here?) are the ONLY ONES who would and have demostrated a particular care and concern for children such as these little angels, sharing the fruits of their labors, their wealth, with the ENTIRE WORLD to ensure that when these unique situations arise, other nations are equipped with the requisite knowledge and resources to deal with them. Capitalists don’t seek to exploit children like this or destroy children like this, capitalism seeks to create opportunities for children like this (no, silly, I know what you‘re thinking and I don’t mean opportunities like circus-work).       Robinraleigh, you took the words right out of my keyboard. I would like to add that Capitalism works at its best with people of morality and integrity. When we have lost our way and say anything goes as long as I don’t get caught, we begin to be destructive and capitalism can break down. We were the strongest capitalist country because we had a moral foundation (Christianity) to stand on. Our foundation is under attack by the left in this country. They just have not put it together that we are sinking as morality becomes relativistic.

      I agree. There are two distinct persons here, that share one physical body. I can’t imagine what kind of life they will have. They may be able to do what any other one-headed person can physically do, but when they become adults, what will become of them? What man will marry two woman, in one body? Will “they” consider theirselves to be one person or two?

      Frankly, I hope that there is some other abnormality that ends their life as soon as possible. They shouldn’t have been born in the first place.

    I think that the parents were not prepared for the shock of the twins and with Chinese laws about birth rates the gave up these twins so that they might be able to do better the next time. Yes it is a problem that even the Presidents advisor John Holdren would use to prove that abortion should be used in these cases.

    But what is not being discussed is either the lack of pre-natal care or a chemical birth defect. With reports by 60 min about the pollution created by recycling computers using BBQ cookers to melt the solder and I believe that one of the major rivers in China is polluted with benzine or some other chemicals. And since the family were farmers then it could be the fact that they use melamine in their fertilizers which could be a carcinogen, remember the dog food scare a few years ago?

    I just pray that these types of pregnancies are less frequent.

    this is very interesting, and I know they will live a long and happy life in China

    you see, the thing about communism as compared to capitalism is that not everyone is laughing at you to try to make you feel bad and get a leg up over you, the way capitalists do

    its the nature of capitalist to belitle, oppress, subdue, and destroy all others for teh sake of themselves

    you will never se or hear anyone pointing out the shortcomings of anyone else in China

    in fact, most other countries around the world, people with severe physical “abnormalities” are welcomed into as many social circles as those without them, and have just as many friends, and do all the same things otehr people do

      It is what it is. Many conjoined twins have a very special relationship with one another, the likes of which we will never know. I hope that whatever their lifespan, that they are contented with their specialness.       Oh my gosh. You are such an idiot. Not mocking someone has nothing to do with capitalism and communism. It has to do with people “worshipping” idols. Our society is obsessed with Hollywood and other things that are of no importance. Then we start comparing everything to the most elite things. Are we as pretty as Cathering Zeta Jones? Is my butt as big as JLOs? It’s when you start valuing other things than life that life is of no importance. People in other parts of the world are humble. When you have nothing like most Chinese, you feel blessed with anything. If these girls live, it won’t be because the Chinese government values their lives. The people may, but that has nothing to do with forced communism. They have little or nothing, so these children are a gift.

      honestly, im 35, i dont really know how things were 60 or 80 years ago in america.. i imagine drugs played a significant role in the development of deviant culture.. its hard to imagine the old timers being half as harsh with each other.. but who knows.

      Illuminoddy, you sound confused. American culture isn’t about belittling others,stepping others and keeping them down and selfishness. It’s self-reliance, treating others how you would want to be treated, charity for others with material things and graciousness. Being self-reliant gives a person freedom to be charitable to others. My parents taught us to be kind to others, work hard, be honest, don’t steal lie or cheat. Grow up to be a contributing part of society, don’t take welfare because theres a stigma to it. There is a right and a wrong, do what’s right even if it hurts. During the depression my grandfather was a grocer. A peron would come into his store and he would always put extra in their order if he knew they on hard times with kids at home. The real American culture is not corrupt, corruption is taking over the American culture. Forget your history you forget who you are. May I suggest an other book for you “5000 Year Leap”. Please read up on real American history it can only do you good.

      We have two great girls here in a neighboring suburb who are conjoined just like this. They go to regular school, get really good grades, have different academic interests, they play sports, they drive a car, they attend sporting events and cheer for their friends. Good job condemning them to short, unhappy lives. They are the delight of their family, their small community, and their physicians.

      Even right here in capitalist, dog-eat-dog America. My nickel is on the private, prosperous life these girls are living here in the U.S. These girls might become a source of income for their families.

      That’s tragic…not their bodies.
