True: Julian Assange Really Does Star in an Anti-U.S. Rap Video

Just when you think you’ve seen it all, video surfaces of Julian Asssange starring in a news rap video bashing the U.S. Yes, you read that right.

The video’s Australian creators–a university researcher and an English teacher–put together the video as political satire. It’s called “News World Order: War on Journalism,” and it mocks Donald Rumsfeld, Bill O’Reilly, and Fox News while building up Wikileaks. It’s just one of their many episodes raping the news and also featuring the whistleblower site. Apparently, Assange saw a previous episode and was impressed. From the AFP:

The Melbourne-based pair had made a previous episode about Wikileaks and told AFP via email: “He really felt that we’d nailed it, so the possibility of going to London and collaborating on a new episode in the lead-up to the Iraq War Diaries was mooted.

“We jumped at the chance and were on planes within a fortnight.”

The pair filmed the episode in London in October, just before Assange released leaks about the Iraq War. When they arrived, they convinced Assange not only to collaborate, but to star. He fell for it:

Once there, Farrant said it seemed logical to offer Assange a role in their parody and, despite some initial raised eyebrows, the WikiLeaks boss was “totally up for it”.

It took several takes (”not as many as you’d expect”) but Assange managed to get the rhythm down and chime in with the rap performed by Farrant.

“He was full of creative ideas for how to act and time the entrance, and he really enjoyed lampooning his own image,” Farrant said.

“It was fantastic — we’re still pinching ourselves,” added Nanni. “He’s a preternaturally calm person, but with a great sense of humour.”

Here‘s the video’s description from YouTube:

Who let the Logs out!? Wikileaks drops 400,000 classified documents shedding new light on the Iraq war—the biggest leak of classified military documents in history—sending shockwaves across the Fourth Estate. Rap News marks the occasion by inviting into the studio the former US Secretary of Offense, Donald Rumsfeld. But what starts out as a conventional Rap News interview soon descends into mayhem as the live feed is hijacked by News World Order, eager to spin the record like a disc jockey on crack. Enter Bill O’Really, the champion of Fair & Balanced journalism, dragging us screaming into the No Spine Zone. Only divine intervention can save us now, from a fate worse than death. But beware of imitators; not all is what it seems to be! Join us for a rollercoaster episode of Rap News, featuring a very very special guest appearance.

The two men tell AFP the goal is “to provide a meaningful contribution to the media discourse around certain issues.” The video doesn‘t necessarily show they’ve achieved that, especially since it paints Donald Rumsfeld as an over-the-top war criminal. That doesn’t appear to be “a meaningful contribution”:

Americans would prefer to remain blind, deaf, and dumb to what has been going on in their name.
Preferring to remain intellectually stupid instead, one can now hear echoes in their vacuous heads.
Nothing can awaken their slumbering sleepy minds, they love it when their government kicks their behinds. Amazing it is when it’s to Lady Gaga they vomit and pray, but to someone who’s trying to inform them like Assange is they like mice run away. For the truth they can’t face, their media heroes have told them it’s better to be lied to so the government can then control them. And just like the sheep they are, they‘ll soon be allowing themselves to be felt up by TSA agents before they’re allowed to get in their cars. But never mind the commercials will tease them and Janet Napolitano and Obama will please them, as Julian Assange once again briefs them of all of the wrong doings of government’s plans to seize and control them, but like all good monkeys they won’t want to face them, so they will hold their paws over their eyes, ears and mouths never to receive them. For after all they can find safety in being known as a dumb American.

Is it just me or do others see links with Obama and Assange?
Obama said we have too much information = Wiki Leaks is too much information = Assange
Obama hates America = Assange hates America
Obama said there is too much vitriol with Fox News = Assange doesn’t like Fox
Obama signs bill to allow gays to openly serve in the military = PFC Manning who also hates the American military is openly gay (is this bill a ‘reward’ for Manning)?

Thought the same thing. Just as the FCC is talking about taking new powers over the internet in the name of “neutrality”, this whole wikileaks thing breaks wide open. Good excuse to seize control over the net. Wouldn’t want the American people to get too much information and get all confused, right?

Do none of you get it? He didn’t leak the documents, that PFC did. Sure, he may be a liberal, and if he did sexually assault someone, he should be prosecuted for that. But I see so many of you calling to silence this man up to and including assassination. If he releases documents that cause harm to our fighting forces, sure, prosecute him for that. Fortunately though, we cannot prosecute people for what “might” happen. You go locking up everyone that one day commit a crime, you will lose your democracy or republic along with it.

I am a conservative, and I for one, will not call for the prosecution for people that have yet to commit a crime that I can see. Once one is committed, sure, go ahead and arrest him, but until that point he is free as is right.

I don’t like the guy, it just disgusts me to see so called conservatives here so willing to strip another human being of his rights because of what “might” happen some day.

The reason is because he clearly is facilitating espionage in the USA. He may not be the citizen who released classified documents when he was in a trusted position, such as did PFC Manning (and he should be executed for treason). However, if some other organization was helping steal classified document to provide them to our enemies, they should be atttacked with the full zeal of our nation because it puts us at risk. Just because he released it to EVERYBODY, does not mean that he should be excused from the fact that he also released it to our enemies as well.

The simple truth is that a nation must do what it needs to do to protect its existence, the USA (and any other nation) must do what is in its self-interest, and preventing such a thing from happening again is clearly so, both as a deterent and to close up the loopholes in our system that allowed this to happen in the first place.

While it may do some damage in the short term, perhaps the US should figure out what Assange has, and release the same information to other news organizations. At least it would render Wikileaks obsolete. And make sure that Private Manning pays the full penalty of the law for treason, to make sure others don’t think this is an action to emulate without consequences.

It only indicates further too me that Americas enemies are lining up. We are quickly becoming the scourge of the rest of the world and must be dealt with. Our endless Wars, our bringing down the worlds economies while still spending money at home, our morally bankrupt values being spread to other nations through our illustrious State dept, our arrogant attitude that we think we are so much better than everyone else…maybe this is true but it won’t gain us any good friends and the list goes on. America will be attacked soon and we will lose this War. We are Babylon reincarnated and Babylon goes down in the end times.

I am still thankful to God for my parents leaving Australia in 1968 to come back to the United States. As a child, all I witnessed when I lived there was a bunch of drunken abusive anti American adults who had big chips on their shoulders toward not only the U.S., but Britain also. I know that there are a decent handful of good australians but there are not many and I have not wished to go back and visit not one time since I have been back here. I am so thankful for being an American citizen. The United States IS the greatest country in the world and by gosh, we will not allow it to fall into the hands of the commies and socialists without a fight.
If it was not for the United States, most people in Australia would be eating rice because Japan would have invaded in the 2nd world war. The United States saved Australia.

Assange didn’t rap very much. I’m disappointed.

Anyway, Assange is wrong about Iraq for the same reason the Weather Underground was wrong about Vietnam. If the enemy is hiding amongst civilians, and the civilians aren’t protecting them, then the enemy is using the civilians as shields, but they can’t be allowed to continue their opression, and so, in an effort to attack the enemy, some captive civilians are caught in the crossfire.

America doesn’t target civilians. Muslim extremists will use them as shields – litteral personal body shields.

Besides, Saddam wanted us to believe he had WMD’s:

Saddam Hussein Said WMD Talk Helped Him Look Strong to Iran
      Hussein Pointed to Iranian Threat
Specter of Arms Allowed Him to Appear Strong, He Told U.S.
