A California teen calling for a Girl Scout cookie boycott after the organization accepted a transgender child to a Colorado troop in October.
In an online video posted to YouTube Jan. 3 — and which has since been made private — the teen, wearing a Girl Scout sash, says she’s been a member of the organization for eight years and urges people not to buy the iconic cookies until Girl Scouts agrees to bar transgender members. Though she doesn’t identify herself, the Christian Post reported her name is Taylor and that she’s from Ventura County, Calif.
“I have been taught by Girl Scouts to advocate for my beliefs, and to discover, connect and take action when I see something I want to change in the world,” Taylor says in the eight-minute video. “The problem is, what I want to help change is Girl Scouts.”
“Right now, Girl Scouts of the USA, or GSUSA, is not being honest with us girls, its troops, its leaders, its parents or the American public,” she continues. “Girl Scouts describes itself as an all-girl experience. With that label, families trust that the girls will be in an environment that is not only nurturing and sensitive to girls’ needs, but also safe for girls.”
A group calling itself HonestGirlScouts.com first released the video to religious organizations and pro-family groups, according to the Christian Post. Susan Riedley, the site’s editor, told the Post Taylor wanted to make the video to expose the organization’s policies and initially withheld her name out of fear of retribution.
“Why is GSUSA willing to break its own safety rules and go against its own research findings to accommodate transgender boys?” Taylor asks in the clip. “Unfortunately, I think it is because GSUSA cares more about promoting the desires of a small handful of people than it does my safety and the safety of my friends. And they are doing it with the money we earn for them by selling Girl Scout cookies.”
“I am asking you to take action and boycott Girl Scout cookies. I ask all fellow Girl Scouts who want a true, all-girl experience not to sell any cookies until GSUSA addresses our concerns.”
In a statement to the New York Daily News, a Girl Scouts spokeswoman said the organization prides itself on being inclusive, serving girls from all walks of life.
“We handle cases involving transgender children on a case-by-case basis, with a focus on ensuring the welfare and best interests of the child in question and the other girls in the troop as our highest priority,” the statement said.
Cookie sales raise money for scouting activities year-round, the statement said.
It continued: “As a beloved American institution, the Girl Scout Cookie Program is a natural target for those seeking to draw attention to themselves or their cause. It’s important for everyone to know that nearly 100 percent of the proceeds from these sales stay in the local market and are used to fund programs for girls.”
Before the video was made private Thursday, it had amassed more than 135,000 views and prompted dozens of video responses. You can watch a copy of the original video below, via the New York Daily News:

You may want to seriously consider quitting the Girl Scouts and instead join the, “American Heritage Girls”. They are a Christ-centered alternative to some of the increasingly-secular organizations that have been setup for young girls (i.e. the Girl Scouts).
In fact over 90% of the girls who join AHG have left the Girl Scouts. They’re an awesome organization and are growing by leaps & bounds.

When a child is transgendered they identify with the other gender and other then body parts live their life as that gender. The fact that Girl Scouts have let these children participate in the program is one of the most amazing things I have ever heard. I have never bought girl guide cookies before… but believe me, I will be ordering a lot this year.
Those of you who are boycotting girl guides should be ashamed of how ignorant you are.

I must say that your post is one of the most ignorant things I have ever read, and I have read plenty of uniformed opinions. If I recall the scout in question is not even 10 y/o (please, correct me if I am wrong). Children at that age aren’t sexually active. Please, educate yourself in pschology and human behaviour before spouting such drivel.
I will not be buying GS cookies because of their ultra-liberal philosophy, irrespective of their stance on a transsexual child. Besides, I am trying to keep from adding pounds regardless of Michelle Obama and her “I know what’s better than you” attitude.

Even us girls. Ridiculous waste of money and stupid liberal mentality. Of course we did not go on camp outs or participate in Boy Scouting events.
So if girls want boys out of Girl Scouts, they have to stay out of the Boy Scouts. Fair enough.
I am so sick of gender “equality” meaning that boys and girls are the same. They ARE NOT!

You may have joined VENTURING, as a female member (Venture crew accepts female members 14-21) but NO, there are no FEMALE members of BOY SCOUTS. You are mistaken.
We have 2 boys in scouting, one in leadership who aged out of both BSA and Venturing, one who is currently a member of BSA.
I also have a daughter in Girlscouts. Unfortunately. AHG doesn’t have their feet on the floor yet. The only chapter in the area is being run by some seriously squirrely people. (They wouldn’t talk to me until I gave them $100. And looked at me blankly when I asked them to tell me WHY, convince me!) They don’t have the facilities or program up and running yet.
BSA is 1000 times the GSA program has ever been. My sons have learned SO much from scouts! My daughter…well, she earned her “Design your dream room” badge, much to EVERYONE’S disgust.
Boyscout badges MEAN something. They carry prestige because they stand for something! Nobody asks what you mean when you say YOUR SON IS AN EAGLE SCOUT!
Girl Scout badges…well, they’ve been “Retooled” and “REBRANDED” so many times, even council doesn’t know what they mean any more…And what the heck is a JOURNEY?

You are right, it was Venture- I forgot that. But we did sell boy scout popcorn. And frankly, we had no business doing that. It was a way to use the Boy Scout name to generate money for our organization. I fought against it and lost in high school.
My point is: If Girl Scouts want boys out, then girls have to get out of boy scouts.
Even as a woman, I feel that women push their way into all boys schools & organizations (are there even any left?), and force gender sameness. Boys (and men) need time to *be* boys; girls need to be girls.

Report Post »Like he said, just because a boy goes through a phase where he plays with dolls and tries on some of his mom’s makeup, society labels him “transgender”, his stupid parents convince him or force him to join the Girl Scouts, and now, instead of it just being a phase he went through as a kid, he’s screwed up for life.
Shame on this boy’s parents and shame on the Girl Scouts for encouraging this type of behavior.

But then one day he wanted to identify as a girl, and his mother failed in her parental duties. That little boy needs therepy quick, and someone needs to find criminal charges for his mom. How sad that his young life could be ruined so quickly with a lifetime of psychological confusion because his mommy could not unwrap her lips from the crack pipe long enough to explain that it is okay to play with girls toys but he is not a girls.

You know, there was a time a few thousand years ago when our Heavenly Father “had it up to here” with the homosexuals and other perverts. He sent His Holy Angels to destroy the cities and their homosexual and pervert residents (i.e. Sodom and Gomorah). With one country after another promoting homosexuality in all areas of society, God surely must once again be nearing the point where of having “had it up to here.” Since the entire planet has now become a Sodom and Gomorrah, I suspect God‘s resolution will be part and parcel of Christ’s return with His Holy Angels to bring an end to Lucifer’s ruination of mankind.
I have a number of acquaintances who are homosexual, and pray often on their behalf, that they will withdraw from the homosexual lifestyle. Hopefully all of you will do likewise for those homosexuals with whom you work, or who are your teachers/professors, your neighbors, or who are among those increasingly being ordained as pastors/priests/teachers in religious organizations that persist in referring to themselves as “Christian.”
