This Is a Satellite Photo of a Probable Mass Grave in Syria

A U.S. government website has published what it says are before-and-after satellite photos showing a probable mass grave in Syria, following a horrific massacre in the town of Houla.

(Related: ‘I Put My Brother’s Blood All Over Me and Acted Like I Was Dead’: Syrian Boy Describes Family’s Massacre)

The site, humanrights.gov, is managed by the State Department. A series of images said to be taken last week by commercial satellite companies also appear to show attack helicopters and artillery deployed near towns.

But it’s the main photo, shown in color, that is most arresting: One half, labeled May 18, 2012, shows a “cleared, dirt area.” The other half, labeled May 28, 2012, is what appears to be the same area, now captioned: “probable newly dug graves/trenches.”

From the site:

This image shows a May 18, 2012 photo of a square in Tall Daww, Haoula in Syria side-by-side with a May 28, 2012 image of the same square. The dotted area in the May 28, 2012 image shows that the ground had been recently disturbed which tracks with the May 26 BBC image from the same location.

More than 100 people, including about 40 children, were killed last weekend in Houla, a group of poor farming villages in Syria’s central Homs province. Activists said pro-regime fighters stormed the villages, shooting men in the streets and stabbing women and children in their homes.

More faked mass graves? More dead baby photos? This is how we got sucked into the quagmire of Iraq. This is how the muslims got us to kill the Serbs who were defending themselves against the terrorists in Bosnia. The Saudis are funding church burnings in the former Yugoslovia, so mosques can be built. The Iranians were allowed to ship arms into the former Yugoslovia to help their fellow muslims.
I say Americans need to quit dying to protect Muslims.

Whether or not it would be good to intervene or not to intervene now or in the future, I can’t see doing that under this president. Leadership matters. He is a savvy, cunning political operative & that matters to get elected on the national stage(& he had a lot of help from various machines). All those traits are not sufficient for the world stage.

I‘ve wanted the Syrian Ba’ath Party & the Assads gone for a long time (since 1980), but what might follow them, Muslims Brotherhood or Al Qaeda, might be worse. Let the various countries (Russia, China, Iran, Saudi Arabia & factions Amal, Hizbollah) use up the blood & gold. Let them step on each others toes & use up their political capital.

The North lost & FAMED General GIAP was sent into retirement. We provided military aid & B52s plus some advisors.

These ‘probable’ mass graves are the ‘probable’ graves of Al-Qaeda rebels attempting to take over Syria:

    ——————————————————————–
“Back in mid-February, Director of National Intelligence James Clapper warned that al-Qaeda had “infiltrated” the Syrian opposition. At roughly the same time, videos began emerging on the internet that clearly revealed just what an understatement–to put it mildly–Clapper’s observation represented. The videos show Syrian rebel brigades proudly posing with the al-Qaeda flag and protestors holding it high.”

Isn’t ironic that we can get satellite images of supposed mass graves thousands of miles away, but can’t do anything about the people streaming across our own border!
For years, the Dems led by Obummer and Holder sounded the alarm that Gitmo was/is a recruitment tool for Al Qaeda. Now the old grey lady, the NYT, aka the official mouthpiece of the WH, reveals that Obummer plays Russian Roulette with baseball cards of suspected Al Qaeda operatives. Further, the NYT reveals that the Stuxnet virus was set up by the US and in the same breath throws Israel under the bus yet again. How soon will it be before Ahminejad, using Stuxnet, spits on the “hand of friendship” that the Apologizer-in-Chief extended? If, as the military and the WH contend, Iran was capable of jamming the sophiticated technology of the Drone which they “brought down,” how soon will it be before they use that technology to bring harm to some major system in the US? Is anyone in this government paying attention to the weekly flight that IranAir flies from Teheran to Damascus and on to Caracas? Does no one think it strange that no matter how far in advance you try to book the flight it is always sold out? Does no one think it odd that the flight does not land at the interrnational arrival portion of the airport, but at the military section? Does not Clownitano think that whatever or whomever is on that plane might be heading north to cross into the country using the “very secure” borders?

The Vietnam War was should have been declared. It wasn’t. I would like to point out the the Anti war movement was very strong already in 1965. there were no that many casualties, there wasn’t TET (1968) & the was not the Mai Lai Massacre. The ginned up up opposition had to be from the left & fueled by the USSR. There is no way the anti war movement could have been so strong in 1965 without Soviet support.

The Iraq Resolution or the Iraq War Resolution (formally the Authorization for Use of Military Force Against Iraq Resolution of 2002,[1] Pub.L. 107-243, 116 Stat. 1498, enacted October 16, 2002, H.J.Res. 114) is a joint resolution passed by the United States Congress in October 2002 as Public Law No: 107-243, authorizing military action against Iraq.

Article One, Section Eight of the Constitution says “Congress shall have power to … declare War”. However, that passage provides no specific format for what form legislation must have in order to be considered a “Declaration of War” nor does the Constitution itself use this term. Many[who?] have postulated “Declaration(s) of War” must contain that phrase as or within the title. Others oppose that reasoning. In the courts, the United States First Circuit Court of Appeals in Doe vs. Bush said: “[T]he text of the October Resolution itself spells out justifications for a war and frames itself as an ‘authorization’ of such a war.”[1] in effect saying a formal Congressional “Declaration of War” was not required by the Constitution.

We have many many laws and departments of the federal government that are unconstitutional, just like the law you cited and another LAW that was passed will be found unconstitutional in Obama care.Just because a law is enacted doesn‘t mean it’s constitutional and laws are routinely struck down.

Mark Levin and Rand Paul discussed this point last week. I would say both are well informed on the Constitution.

You simply dont understand that the President simply needs to seek consent or authorization. He does not need a phrase “Declare War” or “Declaration of War.” Even Jefferson went to war with out this magic phrase you seek.

It is politics and word games. Liberals will sign on if it is something they can use advantageously later for political purposes. An example would be looping a guy like you into an anitwar movement.

You are really short sighted and lack any historical perspective. I guess your head would explode knowing that Congress writing a check for a conflict is authorization.

You think you know the Constitution better than these men?

I guess I’m more concerned that the President is spending money without an approved budget and is enacting laws via executive order.

wrt War – Unfortunately after the Vietnam war, SCOTUS decided that unless congress and the administration had a dispute or impasse on their separation of powers SCOTUS would not intervene. (They pointed that congress was funding the war and the administration was executing it, indicating no conflict). Other cases claiming collusion between congress and the administration to subvert the constitution have been tossed out e.g. Doe vs Bush

Sadly congresses lack of ownership of budgets and formal declarations of war do have a negative impact on this country, as does SCOTUS unwillingness to force separation of powers issues against a willing and consenting congress/administration.

To date authorization of force against other nations is the stand in for a formal declaration of war. They are, according to the courts, effective equivalents. While I think the terms show the cowardice of Congress, they do authorize force against other countries, so I do not see how that is not an authorization of war since authorization of force is effectively an act of war.

I’d love to see this cleaned up. I think forcing congress to make a formal declaration of war and stating that UN resolutions are not sufficient ground to commit forces would greatly reduce our overspending and help us overthrow an increasingly immoral and unconstitutional washington

Congress passed the Gulf of Tonkin Resolution. But considering the tact that the 5th column took within the U.S. (that it was staged) a more formal declaration of War would have been better.

George Herbert Walker Bush & George W. Bush both got authorizations from congress to go to war against Iraq. How could anyone forget? The lion of the Senate, Ted Kennedy, voted against it each time & raised a ruckus.

I have no problem with going into Afghanistan. It was the right thing to do. the Taliban was & is our enemy. How long we should stay & whether we should nation build given the geo-political situation is debatable.

When Usama carries out the 911 attack & the Taliban covered for him, we had casus belli against the Taliban. We asked for them to extradite him. they refused. They suggested that he be tried under Islamic law in Pakistan or Central Asia. If you think that is a risk worth taking then we have nothing to talk about.

All I need to do is burn blue ray discs of congressional votes, public announcements by various officials, & various news stories from the MSM & non MSM.

We were justified in going into Korea, Vietnam, Iraq & Afghanistan. How long to stay is another question. It is related to a discussion of “failed states” or going back in if terrorist training camps are reset up. Given that the politicial sucker puncher Colin Powell had the doctrine of “If you break it, you own it”, we had to rebuild Iraq & Afghanistan

Colin Powel must be defeated in the arena of ideals. Colin Powel could buy an island in the Bahamas & never be covered by the MSM again. Yet his ideal remains.

There must be a debate about what to do about Failed state or countries that you overthrow their government because they supported terrorists.

They have had a discussion in the mag Foreign Affairs. Is it concluded? I don’t know. It is not the only place there was a discussion. It needs to be discussed & a consensus arrived at by most people or else we are going to go back & forth the the miserable anti war left will continue to act as a 5th column.

I’ll let the other reader read the stuff below & then indict you for crimes against humanity. You insist on crippling your fellow citizen.

In August 2000 the IMU also kidnapped four U.S. mountain-climbers in the Kara-Su Valley of Kyrgyzstan, holding them hostage until they escaped on 12 August. In response, the United States classified the IMU as a Foreign Terrorist Organization.

In his book Terror and Consent, Philip Bobbitt noted that Sultan Bashiruddin Mahmood, a scientist of the Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission, had met Osama bin Laden in Kabul in August 2001. Mahmood is said to have disclosed that bin Laden “insisted that he already had sufficient fissile material to build a [nuclear] bomb, having obtained it from former Soviet stockpiles through the Islamic Movement of Ubekistan.”

      @PETTYDRAMA
I can tell you are a brain dead troll. Why? Cause you described most of us as Right Wing. We are not progressives here. We are not socialists, whether its communism (left) or fascism (right). Most here reject all forms of socialism. That left right argument is your argument with other socialists. You both can rot in hell.

Many of the reports from different new organizations around the world are noting many in the massacres are be headings and mutilations. Muslims do not do that to other Muslims, from the reports, it sounds as if the majority being killed are Christians being killed.

More over, this administration has pushed for many of the middle eastern countries to rebel with the Arab Spring and have funded such. It is no mistake this has happened in the past few years as well the administration pushing the Occupy movement here. This IS the change Obama talked about as well has endorsed.

One thing for sure.. “the love of man has waxed cold” in Syria!! It is a sad thing when any country kills their own people.. because of greed.. hatred. Evil is everywhere! Satan and his followers are working over time! I cannot imagine the pain that the people of Syria are going through.. when you have to lie down your children and babies or the pain of children who have lost their mothers or fathers in the cold dark grave. Any help that comes now from this country.. will be to little to late. God help the innocent!

So now Obama is preparing his case for military adventurism into Syria; typical, his polls are on the way through the floor, so as with most historical marxist governments, he will shortly turn to full scale military action for the sole politcal gain he can then make.

The Democrat that would have drones are spying on farmers in Nebraska would also gut NASA & opt for a NASA Muslim outreach program.

Sultan Salman Abdulaziz Al-Saud was a payload specialist “on STS-51G Discovery (June 17-24, 1985). As one of a seven member international crew, which also included American and French astronauts, he represented the Arab Satellite Communications Organization (ARABSAT) in deploying their satellite, ARABSAT-1B” http://www.jsc.nasa.gov/Bios/htmlbios/al-saud.html

We have had outreach under other administrations. We just haven’t had a Obama who talks & talks about how we need to do something we already have done. In the meantime he is gutting NASA, using it for the environMENTALists & trying to invite in Muslim extremists.

We self reflect our jewish/christian values on these muslims. I been to many muslim countries. Example… in european society. Ship is sinking, Women and children in life boats first. This doesnt even occur fundamentally to a muslim.

Some of these mass killings are done by rebels/islamic terrorists to pull us in to this mess. I am not condoning it, I am just pointing out how we are manipulated. They use to send women in front of our convoys knowing the Americans were weak and would stop. it is a completely different culture or morality stream. I think its evil but I am not a socialist.

During the time of Goldwater, Leftist complained about colonialism and imperialism. They did not have a problem with the satellite states of the USSR.

Today, B. Hussein Obama has done the same. He has supported the overthrow of governments that were American allies. Mubarak was our man and Kadafi had come to our side. B. Hussein Obama did not support Iran’s green revolution nor does he do anything about Syria. Why because they are satellite states of USSR/Russia or communism.

    Wake up!

Assad faces a death sentence, with the method and time not yet determined. Discussions of Syria fill air-time, but yield no solutions. Americans have paid dearly giving Iraq and Afghanistan the opportunity to join the human race. I’m not insensitive to the carnage, but once Islamists take a break from slaughtering each other, they will once again turn in our direction.

The DEMOCRATS decimating of our human intelligence capabilities over the past thirty years culminates in not having eyes on these incidents. You can see it in the way Barry speaks of GWB’s policies, then uses them. The lack of ****** in the DEMOCRAT Party is showing in these body dumps.

Decimating our intelligence? What a laugh.

We have plenty of money and people to do anything we want.

Instead we use that money to intervene in foreign civil wars and spy on our own people.

You big govt, big military fools are bankrupting the country when instead you should be focused on the REAL threats to the US – overspending and over-regulation that are killing our economy and an oppressive ATF, FBI, DHS, etc that are stripping us of our freedoms.

Germany had a civil war. National Socialists fought communists in the streets. The national socialists won.

We could have intervened thru diplomacy. Things could have been much better, 50 million alive people better.
