This Is Actor Justin Long Playing Mitt Romney in MoveOn‘s Version of ’The Office’

Mitt Romney’s infamous “I like being able to fire people” remark is back, enshrined in the form of a MoveOn web video casting actor Justin Long as the Bain Capital CEO.

In a confessional-type interview modeled after the NBC comedy “The Office,” Long-as-Romney describes what he does at Bain.

“The way it works here at Bain is that we buy up struggling companies and we streamline them. We make them better, smarter and more efficient. Mostly by firing people,” he says.

It’s on from there, as the faux Romney cans four people in the course of the three minute video, varying it up as he goes along.

“I’ve been accused of not having a heart and that hurts, my friends. It really does,” he says. “But to be fair, it was from a guy that I had laid off right before he had double bypass surgery. So really, the accusation should have probably gone the other way around.”

We could make a savvy video mocking President Obama, but that would probably be considered racist.Yeah, Mitt’s a Mormon, fringe religion, marginal at best, awesome target!

It cracks me up that so many people use the educational credentials of politicians and candidates in high regard, yet they listen to the tripe coming form Hollywood, backed by tons of money, communicated by a lot of folks who barely mad it through high school. I am generalizing and I know that’s a bad tact to take, but it is what these folks bank on when they do this crap.

Amidst all the negative and scary outlooks on the future, it helps to be able to laugh sometimes. Don’t get so bent just because this one features Romney. If you watch comedy central, they have a new show coming out called Key & Peele and they make fun of Obama all the time. To be completely honest, I think satire is what makes politics tolerable. Hell, I’m a Ron Paul supporter and I would laugh if I saw an actor portraying RP by wearing a tin foil hat, holding a gold bar in one arm and a baby in the other. Newt Gingrich would be wearing an oversized space suit and espousing his love for adultery and FDR. Then you could top it off by having Rick Santorum get whispered to by the pope while curb stomping a gay muslim.

It’s sad that poor actors like Justin Long feel they have to associate with the Left Wing Radicals in order to make themselves relevant.
What these self aborbed people fail to understand is that the majority of Americans do not agree with them and their anti-conservative agenda.
Funny they want to mock Romney and his tax returns, but have no problem with Obama not disclosing his college transcripts. I wonder if that’s because those transcripts might show that Obama received financial aid as a foreign student ???
Obama lectured Americans on Tuesday night about Millionaires paying at least 30% in taxes, yet he himself only paid 23% in taxes and received a $23,000 return last year. No Mocking of that hypocrisy.

Your bit about the tax returns and Obama’s college transcripts is not a rational argument. In fact, the position you just took only further solidifies the left’s position and reinforces for their demand of the tax returns. Whether it is Obama’s birth cert, Romney’s tax returns, or Ron Paul’s medical records (which were asked to be disclosed on the debate last night), it appears that there is no satisfying the appetite for unneccessary personal information. In the end it just looks petty and makes the accusers look weak.
So lets keep the attacks on something substantive and not superficial.

Most actors have no real concept of capitalism because they get treated with everything without true work. If it weren’t for capitalism, they wouldn’t make what they do to read a script. The message has been lost to them. People like Alec Baldwin vilify corporations while at the same time making ads for companies like Capital One. Michael Moore says he is not part of the 1% yet makes a huge profit of the sheep who watch his jaded movies. It is all a lie produced to make people angry at someone who achieved more than themselves. Coveting is one of the things that the 10 commandments is against, and now the youth is being taught to ignore that rule…

Companies like Bain do what is necessary to keep the model and economy working. If companies like this didn’t move in to eliminate the cancer and/or leaches that are making them fail, then the WHOLE business would fail and kill thousands of jobs, not just a few. When they move in, just like a government entity, they purchase a failing company and reorganize the good while extracting the bad so the whole doesn’t fail, hence, keeping the money flowing. Nothing is wrong with that. People will always fail while others succeed. The world needs ditch diggers along with the check signers…

What Bain Capital did was no different than a used car dealer, buying less-than-perfect used cars and refurbishing to sell at a higher price. Sometimes after buying a car they find it is beyond repair and the only option is to part it out so that other cars might use its good parts.

If the cars (or businesses) were top-notch then Bain could not afford them. Kodak needs a Bain right now. Maybe they’ll find one. Maybe Kodak will recover. Its clear that what Kodak has been doing does not work. Perhaps the best thing for Kodak would be to sell off its parts and release the employees so they can go elsewhere and do something useful rather than hang around a dead company.

Go watch Wheeler Dealer on BBCA for an education.

    @Barber2

The problem is not capitalism, the problem is vulture that have rejected any moral code and placed the pursuit of profits before people. Problem is the Bain Capital and others like it that seek short term returns, forgoing the long term. For Romney its money and dividends before workers, community and country.

Communism doesn’t work. Witness USSR. Witness Cuba. Socialism doesn’t work. Witness the on-going economic mess of Europe. How sad that you can not see that anyone who plies you with an agenda based on anger/ hate/ revenge / destruction is just selling you a ticket to Hell, not a ticket to a better future. Capitalism is not the cause of our mess. Social justice people tinkering with the system ( Democrats/ Fannie / Freddie/ Acorn ) are what caused the problem.

The most annoying Blazers are the ones who are old hat and kind of jerky to new people. The constant knee jerk statements by some of the commenters really make us all sound like downers.

I’m offended by the brutal hypocrisy of a paid actor trashing a Capitalist principle with outright lies and character assassination. My respect to KBCYCLIST, but I can’t enjoy this video. I’m just so sick of it all the time. If they were just honest once in a while, or if they simply meet us honestly on the battlefield of ideas I could take something like this in stride.

That philosophy wraps itself in lies, though, then weaves it into a comedy routine and distributes it to the masses. Too many people who are ignorant of economics will view that and assume “it’s basically true.”

@Barber of Seville: “lefty troll” my eye, why don‘t you actually evaluate a person’s words before hastening to generalize them. And since when did an organization that tries to promote communism, horrible as it is, become level with Stalin? You need to work on drawing relevant analogies. And if you‘re so fed up with what they’re doing WORK TO STOP THEM, or DON”T WATCH IT.

@Ricky boy: He’s an…actor. sure he doesn’t have a clear idea of the world works. Playing a stoner doesn’t necessarily make him a stoner…though I wouldn’t doubt it.

Newt gets heckled by an “anarchist” who is , no doubt, part of the Democrats Theater of the Absurd in Florida. ( we haven’t seen the thespians since Iowa ) Now old Soros’ Move On makes videos. My, Obama must be thrilled with his Hollywood/ union/ international anarchist / Soros connections. Haven’t seen anything like this before in an American presidential campaign. Thanks to the Democrats, we are now not only on the brink of economic chaos but being subjected to the thug , disruptive, low class behavior of these international anarchists and their buddies in America. WAKE UP AMERICA. It is definitely time to reclaim America. ( feel like I might be living in Europe before WWI and II – civil unrest, chaos, and anarchists.)

Obama is the dictator of our growing banana republic, and if you believe Chavez Obama then we are not broke. Ok, we borrow a million dollars a minute and companies are running away from Chicago. Illinois might be the first state to just go bankrupt…..ha ha…..Jermiah Wright is Obama and Obama is king of a bankrupt nation…..he is kinda like the Iraq minister of propaganda.

    Greed is good.
If no one wanted more, the hunter gatherer crowd would never have started growing crops. Civilazation would never have grown past nomatic tribes, we would have never built cities, culture, water delivery systems, etc.
Without greed, we would still be monkeys living day to day. Greed has it’s place and in society, needs to exist to survive. Especialy in buisness.

Lol! If he’s elected maybe he can fire all the people that perpetuate the welfare state, or the food stamp nation, or all of the people that build a multi-generational business of defrauding the honnest people. THESE WERE ALL SUPPOSED TO BE SHORT TERM BENEFITS.

Maybe he can fire all of the obstructionist bloated governmental agencies that do nothng positive for the majority of the people, but intead kill jobs and strangle growth. Maybe he can fire everyone in the aforementioned agencies that justify their position and title by choking the life out of taxpayer funded projects.

Maybe he could fire all of the lobbyists, analysts and advisors who have beaten the American way out of the people by suggesting that we aren;t capable of fixing, doing, providing and making our own descisions for ourselves and our families without first having big government give direction.

There was a time when a man would fling poo for 23.9 hrs a day before ever holding his hand out for freebies. The simple notion of accepting anything without first working for it was the keystone of any good man’s life.

The government doesn‘t belong and shouldn’t be in the business of handouts. I want someone to FIRE the philosophy that we can’t as well as any person involved at any level of that sickness and hire the people that will.

Sorry, Bain Capitals business model was to go in and sell of the assets of companys, saddling the companys with debt, and forcing the government to bail out the company’s pension funds, all the while Bain would make millions in fees. There is little differnce between Gordon Gekko and Mitt Romney. Mitt reated nothing, instead he sucked the bone marrow out of struggling companys, leaving a wake of unemployed americans in his trail.
