‘This Is Such a Crock’: Limbaugh Calls Out President for ‘Approving’ the Keystone Deal

During a segment of the Rush Limbaugh show on Thursday, the host took on President Obama for claiming he “approved” the construction of the new Keystone XL pipeline from Cushing, Okla., to the Gulf.

“Obama could not have stopped this leg of the Keystone pipeline if he’d wanted to,” Limbaugh said. “He’s simply there…There’s no other way to say it. He’s just glomming onto it. It‘s like trying to be present when the Ten Commandments are given at the burning bush and claiming you wrote ’em.”

Well, that’s not exactly how that story goes, but you get the idea.

Limbaugh was amazed that the president would try to position himself as a proponent of oil drilling.

“The guy who steadfastly opposes drilling for oil and has not issued any permits to speak of, particularly since Gulf oil drilling moratorium — the guy who has made his name opposing the Keystone pipeline — is now out taking credit for it!” Limbaugh said

“The only thing that a president can stop, again, is an international pipeline. In fact, the Keystone XL Pipeline is the first international pipeline that has ever been denied by a president. Keystone is the first international pipeline ever denied!” he added.

“And he was denying it as recently as Monday. And he was criticizing it as recently as Tuesday. And he was telling people that there was no silver bullet or magic bullet to any new oil in this country however we got it, via drilling or via pipeline. And in a space of less than 48 hours, we have had the equivalent of an atheist become the pope on oil and on energy. The Keystone XL Pipeline is the first time in history a presidential permit for a cross-border pipeline has ever been denied.”

“Every bit of this is irritating,” Limbaugh said.

Watch Limbaugh take on the president’s claims (via Fox Nation):

“In his speech this morning, Obama said, ‘Producing more oil and gas here at home will continue to be a critical part of our energy strategy.’” Limbaugh said.

“Will continue to be! This is the guy standing in the way of oil and gas production. This is the guy throwing money away on wind and solar and electric cars…Obama is ‘producing more oil and gas here at home’?” Limbaugh asked.

He continued:

This is what the Democrats do, folks. This is what the left does. There is no moral core. There‘s no concern for truth and there’s no concern for being caught lying, because Obama knows that his number one support group’s not gonna call him on it. The only people who are gonna call him on it are people like me, and they’re not worried about that. They’ve got the AP on their side. They’ve got the Washington Post, the New York Times. They don’t care. But what it indicates is the good news about this: They know how deep the trouble Obama is in. They know how deep it is. They know the problems he’s got.

We have this: 78 percent of the people following this want the Keystone pipeline, and Obama’s in the 22 percent opposing it. And his 22 percent counts for a hundred percent because he can stop it, and he has stopped it. So now he’s out trying to make this little connection between Oklahoma and Texas appear to be the whole thing having been authorized. They’re in deep trouble. They have the support, when you boil it all down, of no more than 30 percent of people in this country. When you boil it all down, Obama and the Democrats have no more than 30 percent. Why do they get more votes than that? Well, once again: How many people do you think are going to hear this stuff today and think it’s true?

To put it simply: “This is such a crock.”

      @lisalake So I guess the fact that we are producing more oil domestically now than we did under Bush is irrelevant and the 200+ permits that the oil companies have been sitting on for a year or more are irrelevant. Rush is a national disgrace.

      LOL…yes JROOK…the 200 permits that Salazar and the EPA won’t allow any new drilling and exploration to take place on? You think we have short memories champ? Obama defied a court’s decision and reimposed his moritorium on drilling in the gulf. Shell had spent 4 trillion dollars on exploration in northern Alaska only to have the EPA pull the permits for their tankers because the..wait for it…“emissions” from the tankers would have affected an eskimo village of less than 200 people over 70 miles away. Shell packed up and took it’s business overseas. Please…we know how Obama operates. He offers words about drilling and exploration then Chu, Salazar and the EPA step in to do his dirty work and stall or pull the permits. Get better material clownshoes.

      Fox just showed numbers last night that net oil production had gone up under Clinton (+58%) and had gone up under Bush Jr (+~156%, don’t remember the exact but it was well above 150). The same statistics showed that net oil production has gone DOWN under Obama in this country to the tune of -38%.

      “Under my administration,” Obama crowed, “there is more domestic drilling than at any time in the last 8 years.” Perhaps if Obama were more concerned with truth than appearance, he might’ve finished that sentence with “despite my best efforts.” Our own domestic production is rising, but not for the reasons given by Obama.
      The only increase underway in the recovery of “fossil fuels” is occurring on private or state-owned land, which is not subject to the permitting process governing federal land. Even the 38 million acres Obama’s administration recently made available for drilling in the Gulf of Mexico had ALREADY BEEN SCHEDULED for sale during the Bush administration, MORE THEN A YEAR BEFORE OBAMA WAS ELECTED. Is this draining in JROOK?
      Seven lease sales that were scheduled to take place after Obama’s inauguration have been canceled entirely: one in the western Gulf, one off the coast of Virginia, and five in Alaskan waters, all with proven reserves.
      Clearly, any good that is occurring on the energy front in America is happening in spite of Obama, not because of him.
      Keep trying JROOK…YOU might be stupid enough to buy Obama’s horsesh#t…but many are not buying it I assure you.

      OHIORIFLEMAN…your sources are correct. Production on Federal Lands (the only lands Obama can enforce) has gone down under Obama. Only private and state land has increased production IN SPITE of Obama, not because of him.

      So let me sum that up for you JROOK….production has indeed gone up. But it‘s ONLY gone up on private and state lands that the federal permit process can’t touch. But on federal lands…as OHIORIFELMAN’s sources show…PRODUCTION HAS GONE DOWN BY 38%. Obama said he wants to “skyrocket” energy costs for Americans and he’s doing his d@mnedest to make sure that happens. Is this draining in at all JROOK?

    Even if he did have something to do with it what does it do…squat…the oil is hundreds of miles away. What is he doing about the Sunoco refinery in the north east that is closing? The jerk will probably throw another one of his lavish parties to mark the occasion! After all…he wants top FORCE us to do what he thinks is best…the wonderful electric car…..but, where will they get the power to charge all those eco vehicles…? Or have they not thought it out that far yet?

    Obama needs both parties in his camp working for him because he’s in such a mess preparing for the next election. Camp1 is his eco-socialists. They hate everybody and especially anything to do with fossil fuels, drilling, mining, industry. Camp2 is Obama’s Re-Election Team. They have to spin every one of Obama‘s screwup and make Obama look like he’s doing something worthy of being voted in. Hard job, since Obama was, on board for Keystone, then off, then on, then off again, then this one. It’s kinda on but its mostly off.
    Camp1 is his party faithful, his backroom workers, movers and shakers, his social activist friends. So he has to placate to his buddies of social activism. Camp2 they’ll do anything to put a spin on a story showing Obama doing something.
    So what has Obama done? Well, to you US voters he’s suckering you big time. He isn’t doing a damned thing. He says he’s building a pipeline. But to where, and from where? NOWHERE MAN, he’s sucking you with a pointless pipeline. All to give an impression of doing something for the retarded short sighted American voter. And he is satisfying his social activist eco-liberals. He isnt drilling, pumping anything. It’s a pointless pipe. A great photo op leading to an election. And his eco-socialists are still tweaking for a European gasoline price in the US should Obama win an election. Smoke and mirror liberal style. A Bridge to Nowhere.

    It seems he would like to see people without jobs rather then to give in to getting permits out there to get them to work. He has the money to send his wife and daughters out of the country at various times for vacations but to help people get jobs no. I don’t even know what he is paying his illegal relative that stays with them. The government should just be in charge of security mainly and leave the buying of businesses to private businesses and investments to private investors. I have lost track how much money he has used of taxpayers that are just gone. Health insurance has gone up where he said would go down. Healthcare plan will cost way more then what they said and would not have been passed if they were honest with the figures. Plus other problems in the bill……. Yes, we need lower gas cost and he says no “its not his fault”

      Those are exploration rigs NOT drilling rigs. There is a HUGE difference. You are the one that needs to do a little more studying. I live in the gulf coast and the oil industry here has become a joke. The only people actually drilling with purpose in the gulf are the Chinese.

    Obamaian Hyocricy Syndrome at its best (aka “Liar, liar, his pants are on fire” syndrome) in which Obama takes credit for things he never did. Here is yet more proof of his absolute narcissistic behaviour and utter insanity. If something fails its never his fault, if it succeedes then he is the one who made it happen….how long until the Democrats proclaim the sun rises and falls at his command? How long until they declare him a living god on earth?

    O is just doing what he always does, nothing. He will do nothing and then when something good happens, take credit, and when soemtheing bad happens, blame Bush.

    I heard he just took credit for the success at D-Day, he personnally told Eisenhower to launch on June 1st, and he is standing by that fact.

      CATB…Obama’s doing his usual “taking credit for someone else’s success” routine. Yes production has gone up…on private and state owned land that the Federal government‘s permit process can’t touch. In fact…on federal lands (the place where Obama’s adminstration can have an effect) it’s no surprise that production has gone down.
