An MC at a charity event is supposed to lighten the mood while also being serious enough to keep the event clipping along. He’s not supposed to overshadow said event. And he’s definitely not supposed to be drunk. But that’s apparently what happened when Springfield, MA, and WGGB, anchor Paul Mueller hosted a fundraising gala over the weekend for the Carl Joseph Walker-Hoover Foundation, a group that fights bullying.
During the event, Mueller got up for one of his spiels, but it appears he had too much to drink as he rambles and slurs his words, even using the gay slur “fa*.” All to the astonishment of those in the room. A gala attendee captured part of the speech and e-mailed it to TV Spy:

After a day of denial, Mueller e-mailed the following message to TV Spy saying he has resigned. And from the sound of it, it seems like he’s getting help for alcoholism, or rather “a medical issue … that has now apparently gained national attention from the youtube video:”
Not sure if you are aware but I hae resigned effective immediately today, Monday, April 18, for a medical issue that needs immediate attention, a prob lem that has now apparently gained national attention from the youtube video. Hopefully, with time and appropriate medical treatment, I will once again be able to return to the field of television news. If not, so be it. Today, though, my thoughts and prayers go out to the family of Carl Walker Hoover, the Foundation, as well as the five young recipients who received scholarships Saturday night. This idiot chose to get drunk at a fundraiser and then ramble incoherently to the audience. People need to take responsibilities for their actions, and admit their faults. Everyone has made a poor decision at some point. Own up to it, and quit hiding behind excuses.

I was bullied for being WHITE growing up in Jamaica, until I stood up and fought back, then it was over, period, finito…these types of people are just getting back at everyone for their lack of backbone! I had to flee the country where bullets were flying, not a great experience for a 13 year old!!! But hey, I was born in the good ‘ol USA, and had to go to Jamaica with my parents, I hated the place to tell ya the truth. Go watch some youtube videos – Jamaica in the 1970′s – the same thing that happened there, is going on here!! But the socialists here cover themselves better, with the words Liberal or Progressive – no difference – all are Communists!! Big difference between to the two countries is this – we bailed Jamaica out – who is bailing us out? I sure hope the TEA works, because if it does not, we’re in for it here!!!! I choose the peaceful route for sure, but I will not shy away from action either, because the left is gearing up as I type, for armagedon in our streets to either get their way, or to destroy us when they lose power. Either way, it is out of our hands for now, but when things get ugly here, the tide will change drastically. I type this with a heavy heart, because I’ve lived through the stinking socialism that is creeping upon us, but it is picking up steam!!!

But Beck himself belongs to a cult. When the only Truth that exists is Jesus Christ The Messiah you have to ask yourself what Beck’s agenda is.
I want to here him say Jesus Christ is the ONLY way and the ONLY Truth then I will cut him some slack. Not just allude to some narrow gate. Even demons acknowledge Christ and tremble.

I remember an episode of Leave It To Beaver where Miss Landers, the teacher Beaver has a crush on, is getting married. June goes to a department store, and brings back two boxes, one with a wedding gift and another with something for her. Beaver takes the wrong box (they used in those days to wrap everything up nicely at department stores), and is mortified to discover that he’s given Miss Landers bras. Laugh track. Only I felt too embarrassed on his behalf to find it anything but distressing.
Bullying, huh? A guy makes a drunken ass of himself at a charity banquet, and he’s required to surrender his job and grovel about getting treatment for his condition? He says the controversial f-word that mustn’t be written out on a blog? ZOMG! I’ll show you bullying.
There are so-called public servants whose misconduct has helped to lead to the present financial crisis who still have their jobs, whose misconduct has cost Americans in ways that we can hardly contemplate, and they will look at this video, and nod their heads derisively, and say, yes, he had it coming.

He almost marred the event; however, the Carl Walker Hoover Foundation representatives were able to continue and get back on message. The silver lining: It was a life’s lesson to the soon-to-be high school grads, receiving scholarships that evening, that one‘s carreer can be over in a blink of an eye by a stupid act or blunder with one’s mouth!
