See The Incredibly Awkward ‘Robot’ Interview With the British Labour Leader

We’ve all seen awkward TV interviews where a politician seems to trumpet nothing but talking points. But you might not have seen an interview where it’s this obvious. In fact, it’s so bad the interviewee is being labeled as a robot.

British Labour Party leader Ed Miliband is getting roasted in the British media for an interview he gave to the BBC yesterday regarding the public sector strikes in his country. Essentially, during the entire interview he gave one answer. Or at least variations of it. And it’s painful to watch.

Business Insider explains the talking point:

Miliband gives nearly identical responses to a series of questions about the massive UK strikes. Some combination of the following phrases: “These strikes are wrong at a time when negotiations are still going on… But parents and the public have been let down by both sides because the government has acted in a reckless and provocative manner… After today’s disruption I urge both sides to put aside the rhetoric and stop it happening again.”

The Daily Mail says the video is so odd that some BBC readers wondered if it was a spoof. The Mail responded by dubbing Miliband “Robo-Ed:”

With his bizarre nasal voice and geeky demeanor, commentators have often joked whether Ed Miliband really is human.

He has variously been likened to Wallace of Wallace and Gromit as well as gormless Ross from Friends.

Now, following a bizarre new TV interview, he has a new identity – Robo-Ed.

The interview is reminiscent of one given by Democratic senate candidate Alvin Greene in the fall, in which he repeatedly accused Sen. Jim Demint of starting the recession:

LOL What a reckless and provocative interview. I suggest he go back to the table, put aside the rhetoric and prevent this from happening again!

This is what a hard working taxpayers money is getting: A MINDLESS BUREAUCRAT. Fire him, downsize the British government. These type of mindless people have enslaved the British people. The guy must be on some heavy duty narcotics. Medveded can’t drive without crashing. Obama can’t string a cohesive sentence without teleprompters: Politicians have SO pampered themselves with taxpayers money, that they have become gluttonous waste. They do NOTHING for themselves they have servants. They don’t think for themselves they have writers. They are just PROPS. NOT REAL, THINKERS, PROBLEM SOLVERS or LEADERS. They are nothing more than drugged/liquored up pampered props pretending to adminsiter to the needs of society. Obvioulsy that is the last thing they are doing because society is up in arms over the mismanagment causing chaos in every community around the world.
OR this guy could have Turrets Syndrome and should not even be in office.

i agree, all this is slavery. mental and fiscal slavery… it needs to stop, we abolished slavery, yet still let it go on everyday in America. This exact interview is what it is like talking to a liberal. you can give them many different points and ask many different questions, and they answer with a canned response everytime, like good little pawns.

That is amazing! It’s like the telemarketer who has the script that tells him what to say to each question. If Q about parents, repeat the Q back to segue to point 2, then 1, 3, and 4. If Q is about coleagues, repeat the Q to segue to point 4, then 2, 1, and 3… lol

Although i like Sarah Palen, she uses the same repetative phraseology. She answers questions using the words used in the question. Scrambling them up in different ways to pretend to answer. I think it speaks to a lack of true ability to think through a situation. I guess one cares when they hear a popular person unable to difinitivly answer with a creative thought process.

What a loser… similar to the dribble we hear from the WH. Just change the sentence structure and use the same phases the public is to stupid to catch on… this is going to be a serious world wide economy adjustment/reset… and a lot of anguish will be seen and many will suffer…

It’s rather painstakingly obvious he is not in charge of anything. He doesn’t speak for himself, he was told what to say and to not say a word more. And like a good little boy he did just that. The only real relevance I can see is that what is happening in Europe may easily cross the pond in just a short while. Hell look at Wisconsin and Minnesota.

As an aside, isn’t his call for abandoning the “rhetoric”…. rhetoric?
