‘This Is What a Dictator Does’: Beck Savages Obama’s Fiat on Illegal Immigrants

Earlier today, we reported that the Department of Homeland Security plans to implement a “policy change” which looks virtually identical to the DREAM Act – an act of Congress that has stalled repeatedly due to its unpopular stance on illegal immigration. In other words, the White House has decided it can bypass Congress to get its agenda enacted.

Fortunately, Glenn Beck was willing to call this genuine constitutional crisis (Eric Holder notwithstanding) out for what it is – a blatant move towards executive dictatorship. Listen to the segment below:

Glennbeck.com sums up Beck’s epic reaction below:

“He’s not trying to get this through Congress. He is just, in a breakthrough fashion, seizing power,” Glenn told listeners. “This is exactly what a dictator does, not an American president.  We are a constitutional republic.  They don’t do that.  He doesn’t have the ability.  The Department of Homeland Security doesn’t have the authority to do this.  Obama is now stopping all deportations for certain classes of illegal aliens.  Essentially he is going to put in place the DREAM Act without dealing with the hassles of debating it, voting it, discussing it, even writing an executive order.  He’s just doing it.”[...]

“It’s not even executive order,” Glenn said. “He’s just doing it through the Department of Homeland Security.”

“Meanwhile, Janet Napolitano is telling us that the border is now better than it’s ever been,” he continued. “That is an out and out outrageous lie. This is one of the most important topics of our lifetime what’s happening on the border. It is a war zone. It is worse than a war zone. What’s happening in Pakistan on the border, what’s happening in Iraq on a border is not as bad as what’s happening in our own country on our border.”

Couldn’t have put it better ourselves. Evidently, the rule of law and the separation of powers are completely foreign concepts to this administration. And even worse, besides this policy’s complete lack of respect for both those concepts is the fact that it is self-evidently an election year about face. Why? Because, as the Huffington Post reported last October, the Obama administration has already set a record for the number of deportations perpetrated on its watch. So on top of being dictatorial, the policy is also rankly hypocritical and disingenuous, which makes Beck’s final conclusion inescapable:

“The cowards in congress won’t deal with it, the cowards in the media won’t deal with it, the cowards in the Oval Office won’t deal with it – President Barack Obama is a coward,” Glenn said.

      I am really concerned there will be no election if Obama thinks he cannot win. The illegal appointments without Senate approval earlier this year and now this. June 15, 2012 – The day the fascist dictatorship began. What’s to stop him from using the NDAA, suspend elections and declare he must remain in power. If Boehner, McConnel and other leaders do not stand up and call out the President for this treasonous, lawless act, I fear the Republic is over.

      The problem here isn’t per se the Dream Act. I don’t support it but it is a legitimate bill that got its Constitutional due. I really don’t care if Romney agrees with the DA. He would never implement it by fiat. This is an outrage, the last straw. If we don’t get him out start orderin bulk ammo.

      Recently I went to a Christian family camp at The Lodge at Simpsonwood , in Norcross, GA. The Presbyterian Church owns and operates the lodge and we thought it was a beautiful place to hold a family camp. In our group there were was about 10 adults and 6 children. When we went to breakfast the first morning, there was a large group of black youths and adults there, about 75-100. We were the only whites, but we did not mind that at all, until we found out who they were. The Youth Hope-Builders Academy (YHBA) of Interdenominational Theological Center (ITC).
      One of the teachers told me they were training community organizers .

    State and Federal representatives as well as the judicial branch have the authority to stop this. Executive orders can not override federal law. The GOP does not address this for the same reason they don’t prosecute Holder. They benefit as much from doing nothing as they would from upholding their oath of office and putting a stop to this. If they do nothing, they get votes because of how bad their opponent is. If they do their job and simply stop it, they will be hounded in the press, face the harassment of the left and may in fact loose votes. Our State and Federal Representatives ARE JUST AS RESPONSIBLE AS OBAMA because they allow it to happen for their own political gain.

    I have one thing to say, not just about this article, but all the articles and news on Obama and bypassing Congress, or doing so many things that others say are not Constitutional… if that is true, then why is he still president, and has not been impeached? From what I have heard in the past three plus years is thing after thing being unconstitutional, If Nixion could be impeached for what he did, what is going on in this country as a whole? Where are the Republicain’s? Are they a bunch of wimps or what? I say, let’s take back America… whatever it takes and quite screwing around being the nice guy. Like the saying, “Nice guys always finish last”, in this case, we will be lucky if we finish at all. We either live in America, in a Republic using the Constitution, or we are not. Some where in the distant past mostly all of our organizations, including the media has been taken over. And playing footsy with them is not going to solve our problems. America used to kick butt… what have we turned into, like the book, “COWARDS!”. Blame religious groups for complacency, to much compassion, laziness, etc. And all of those bad comedies where the men now act more like women. Face it, we have had our balls removed slowly, and it will be the death of us.

Why should American citizens that are teenagers, have to complete for summer jobs with the illegals? We already have a huge unemployment problem.     Glen is correct about it all. Congress is a worthless bunch. The border is a cauldron and occasionally spills over into the US. I go to the border sometimes on business (Texas/mexico border).Even on the Texas side in border towns one can hear sporadic gun shots day and night. Mexican helicopters circle on their side and Texas helicopters go airborne on our side to make sure that whatever is going on does not spill to our side. Border patrol cars scurry about like they are trying to sweep back the ocean. There are not enough of them. Texan ranchers near the border always have their equipment stolen and some have even been victims of home invasions. If they set on their property and fire at intruders…then the US government comes down and prosecutes them for protecting themselves. What kind of nation do we have? It does not even protect it‘s borders and it’s people.

I have seen the relentless posts about Romney/Obama while I share your major disappoint,ent about the conservative creds of Romney, I wonder: did you both vote Obama ‘08? Cause John McCain is no conservative!! I held my nose and voted for him anyway because I knew Obama had no experience and was the “most liberal member of congress”. I had no idea how absolutely HORRIFIC his term would turn out!! Now, we are so close to collapse! Collapsing onto Communism IS NOT the better alternative and I am appauled that as supposed conservatives you would espouse such utter nonsense! I know your bent Paul isn’t ever gonna be your nominee. I agree with about 80% of what he advocates, but the rest is nutty!       I voted for Dole96, Bush00, Bush04, and McCain08. I supported Dr. Paul in the primary of 2008 and listened to talk radio, Fox news, and the establishment said to do and voted for McCain against my will. I will not bend my principles again. Every time I see McCain on tv he makes me sick.

      I got all misty eyed reading a story on a hispanic here illegally attending UCLA & how POTUS’ decision would change her life. I resent the “dream” thing as if American youth and citizens don’t dream since it is our reality. Fact is many US youth dream of traveling abroad-studying in far away lands to learn languages, cultures and exchange ideas. They do that to become rounded and worldly and bring those experiences home to better themselves. What we don’t do is drag a number of our relatives that do not speak the language and have no intentions of doing so. We don’t sign ourselves up on their public assistance, take to the streets demanding that as citizens, we want equal rights. We don’t establish gangs with rights of passage that require violent acts in the worst case and property damaging graffiti to tag their turf in the best case.

      Immigration is a tough topic, but needs one that current citizens of our republic can support. If you look at other countries for best practices, we are extreme to the lenient side; in fact we have no measurable practice. It’s beyond the process vs content debate and focused only on content which has become about fairness, dreaming, equality and non-existent rights. The debate should be about the process; constitutionality and legality. Call the boarder crossers what you will, but I could no more call them citizens than I could a person off the street that chooses to squat in the foyer of my business an employee.

Threats of lawsuits and overtaking the convention, BS reports on delegates etc did nothing for your candidate at the booths and adds little value here.       I have been supporting all the POS GOP nominees up til this point to include John MCCain whom I DESPISED but voted for a sent money anyway.

      I helped get Bush elected and all that got us a whole lot of debt, 8 years of open borders and the Patriot Act.

      I haven‘t decided what I’m doing yet this November, but I’m damned tired of not having a CONSERVATIVE to vote for.

      Congress made ITSELF irrelevant by cedeing regulatory power to the executive ranch. Adminstrative regulations have the force and effect of law – but they are issued by faceless bureaucrats all under the control of the executive branch. Congress has been emasculated.

      As far as I’m concerned, every regulation that comes out of the executive branch should be voted on by congress before it is valid – but congress has been so afraid that doing their job might make them unpopular that they have turned all the real power ver to the White House.

      Congress has given the executive branch the power to do whatever the hell Obama wants through regulation. It’s just like cap and trade – he culdn’t get it throgh congress, so the EPA began regulating carbon dioxide anyway.

      He likes fridays because Rush has his open line friday meaning he won’t get to talk about stuff as much as he would like. Glenn doesn’t have a live show on friday, and the news media doesn’t have many viewers on the weekend.
