This Is What Chick-fil-A Appreciation Day Looked Like (With Your Pictures, Stories, and Video)

Scroll down for an update to this story.

Hungry diners from all across the country crowded their local Chick-fil-A’s to show their appreciation for the chicken chain’s Southern fried goodness. You knew this day was coming and you knew it was going to be busy.

How crowded did some stores get? Well, based on photo submissions and anecdotes from Blaze readers and editors, let’s just say “Chick-fil-A Appreciation Day” sounds like it was a major success:

“My daughters and I went to Chick fil a in Wake Forest, NC around 1:45 today in hopes of avoiding the rush. At that time, the line was still backed up a half of a mile out of the restaurant parking lot!” Erin G. in North Carolina wrote TheBlaze in an email.

[Related: ‘Choke to Death on That LGBT Hating Chicken’: See How the Left is Reacting to ‘Support Chick-fil-A’ Day]

“Due to Chick fil a’s impeccable customer service it only took 30 minutes to get through that drive thru line!! What other fast food chain is able to boast of that?! (My husband visited a different Chick fil a in Raleigh and had a similar experience.) We will go back this evening for dinner,” she adds.

Ryan S. in Arizona writes:

We live in Phoenix, Az and it is very hot here, but that didn’t stop people from coming to Chick-Fil-A and standing in line out there door for a 45 min wait. My wife went through the drive through and was impressed so many came out to show their support. Willing to endure the heat to show their support. My wife was so impressed she felt she needed to do more than just buy lunch to show her support. She wanted to do something for the people standing in line.

So when she got to the drive through window she bought 10, $10 gift certificates and then had our two children pass them out to random people in line to pay for their lunches. Some people were moved to tears by the expression. Honestly I was moved to tears just hearing my wife tell me the story. I am so inspired by the good people showing up all across the country to show their support for traditional family values. I hope these random acts of kindness catch on.

The line at a Chick-fil-A in Irving, TX [via TheBlaze's Jon Seidl!]:

“We went yesterday, the day before appreciation day! It was packed, the line reached outside, and the energy was great,” Cameron Jacobs of Roseville, CA, told TheBlaze in an email.

“People knew exactly what they were standing for when they ordered yesterday (and today) I think positive support has trumped the negative aggressive dishonest tactics of those who would so hypocritically oppress this great eating establishment,” the email adds.

Josh G. from Lubbock, TX, writes: “People were extra talkative and friendly to fellow patrons today because we were all there for the same reason. Felt more like a family reunion than a lunch break.”

Jim Cahill of Arizona writes:

We arrived at 11:30 to a line of approximately 40 cars in the drive-thru. We parked and waited in line to eat in instead. Took about an hour. I counter about 90 people out the door – all enduring 105 degree heat. The line stretched even longer by the time we received our food.

See the KHOU-TV update from Houston, TX:

“It’s around 100 degrees here today and there was a 45-minute wait to get inside.  I overheard a young girl (10 or so years old) behind me say to her mom, ‘it’s hot’ — to to which I felt compelled to kid her a bit by saying, ‘Hey, liberty is not air-conditioned,” Gerry from St. Louis writes.

“Several people overheard me say that, and joined in the conversation with some nice positive commentary regarding the show of support for Chick-Fil-A founder Truett Cathy’s right to free speech,” the email adds.

Meliss O. from Tallahasse, FL, told TheBlaze the following:

Our Oral Surgery practice spent $700.00 at Chick-fil-A today.  We chose today to support “Chick-Fil-A Day” and purchased lots of trays of salads and nuggets for our referring offices.  We were sure to tell each office that they should be sure to show their support today.  Felt great to drive into the parking lot on Capital Circle in Tallahassee at 10:30 (between breakfast and lunch) and the parking lot be PACKED.

Chick-fil-A, as most Blaze readers know, has been dealing with heavy fallout from comments made by CEO Dan Cathy about his support for traditional marriage. Cathy responded that his company was “guilty as charged” when it comes to its support of the traditional family unit.

“We are very much supportive of the family — the biblical definition of the family unit. We are a family-owned business, a family-led business, and we are married to our first wives. We give God thanks for that,” Cathy told The Baptist Press.

“We operate as a family business … our restaurants are typically led by families; some are single. We want to do anything we possibly can to strengthen families. We are very much committed to that,” he added.

Pro-gay rights groups immediately responded to Cathy’s remarks by calling for nationwide boycotts and some left-leaning politicians even vowed to block the company from opening eateries in their cities.

In response to the outrageous outrage over Cathy’s interview, former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee called for a national “Chick-fil-A Appreciation Day.” We feel pretty confident when we say we think it was a financial success. In fact, we are getting so many submissions from readers telling us about their “Chick-fil-A Appreciation Day” experiences that we can’t possibly include all of them in this article. This, of course, implies that when the company tallies up end of day sales, it’ll probably come out alright.

Oh, yeah, let’s not forget: Gay rights activists have planned their own response to Huckabee’s day with “National Same Sex Kiss Day,” which involves same sex couples making out in Chick-fil-A’s, because, as we noted earlier on TheBlaze, that’ll show ‘em.

UPDATE: Has Chick-fil-A set world record for sales?

The good book says if you draw close to God He will draw close to you. Think He did today to the owners of Chicfila. I wish folks didn’t dish the gay community. The first amendment gives all of us the right to protest and that’s what some of them do. Those who deserve this miracle day in your face are the mayor of Boston, Rahm Emanuel and Nanny Bloomberg Michelle Obama and those who wish to control we the masses. Yes!

Shame on you! The people at Chick-fil-a are very kind and helpful. Why would you want to “raise your standards?” Would you rather snooty, nasty service? I find it refreshing to be able to walk into a restaurant, fast-food or otherwise, and be welcomed with a smile and genuine customer service whether you are the only customer or the 100,000th. And I can tell you that today they treated me just as if I was the only customer with more than an hour wait outside their doors.

I went in Tampa. It was so crowded, I couldn’t get into the parking lot until 3:30.
The drive through line was around the building, and the “dine in” line was out the door.
People were nice, everyone was happy. The store had 6 cash registers going. so I got my food in about ten minutes.
      The peach shake was killer.
I had fun, hey GLAD, where we going next?

I know at our local CFA there were Gay protesters. It was funny because 1 was out at the street. His three buddies were in the back parking lot. They were getting ready to protest, I had some time and asked them some guestions. As we talked, I got them to understand that what they were doing was the same thing they accused CFA of doing. They ended up leaving, and were not back the times I went by there later in the day. Oh and the one out front?
      CFA gave him:
Breakfast; Coffie and a chicken Biscit.
Lunch; Ice Tea, 2 Chick-fil-A’s, and Walffel fries.
Dinner; Ice Tea, 2 Chick-filA’s, and Carrot raisin salid.

The location is on two very busy roads, in a high traffic area. This protester was enduring tants about his needing to find a job. From what I saw, about 4 hours total, he received no shows of support.

I just feel awful for the poor kids those old bigots dragged along with them.

I can’t wait for the day when my kids will read in text books about the swarms or narrow minded cavemen that sought to oppress the homosexual community because of the ramblings of an old book. I will look down at them and say, “Kids, when I was your age I read about the same type of crazy white folk that believed blacks didn’t have the same rights as whites. Sometimes, you just gotta grit your teeth and smile at the simpletons; let them have their moment in the sun. One day they will be dead and the wheels of progress will again turn.”

Here’s hoping that time comes sooner rather than later.

Every day I wake up, I am thankful to the good Lord that I am lucky enough to be an American. That being said, there are not many days where I can claim to be proud of being American anymore. God has blessed this nation in so many ways, and we now seem to have generations of unthankful heathen, that do not realize the blessings, and the sacrifice from generations before us or the hand of God in making this nation great. It is shameful to see a nation go to the polls, and elect a man with no real credentials, no military service, no business experience, but rather a history tied to radicals, communist, and even terrorists. It is shameful to see a nation founded on Bible principles now allow degenerate sodomites to serve openly in our military. It is shameful to see the passage of socialist healthcare. It is shameful to see the trash and filth that comes across the television shows and movies.

Today I went to Chick-Fil-A for lunch. I was literally one of hundreds standing in line at this small store for a simple chicken sandwich. The fellow Americans that showed up, had smiles on their faces, and they stood in line peacefully and quietly, to show their support for the Biblical definition of “marriage” and first amendment rights of free speech and freedom to worship as they see fit.

Unlike the liberal OWS crowd, they did not wear masks, they did not scream and shout, they did not vandalize, they committed no crimes. They stood proudly, spent their own money, and with

Went to the one in Cookeville, TN today. The line went from one door almost around the whole building to the drive-thru window. The wait wasn’t too bad until they ran out of buns and had to wait for an employee to bring more. Once they got there their vehicle was filled and people stepped out of line to help out. Also a lady stopped by with four cases of water to hand out to everyone outside in the heat. I was in awe of all the kindness shown today and even a “darlin’” or two was thrown in there for good measure.

As a Christian, I got to agree with you. It really is sad that these so-called “Christian” neo-conservatives here are so eager to support the idea of Americans supporting the idea of banning the rights of other Americans simply because of their differing viewpoint of marriage (in this case, same-sex marriage).
Personally, I have no desire of ever engaging in homosexuality myself, but that in NO way justifies the idea of denying homosexuals their right to consensually marry simply because I differ from their viewpoint of marriage. Hence, the reason why the LGBT community expressed outrage when T. Dan Cathy made this statement bashing homosexuals: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BcoKT0Smt34 The homosexuals are in NO way trying to prevent Dan’s right to express his religious viewpoints concerning marriage; they’re only calling him out on his bashing towards homosexuals.

And now I shall be on the receiving end of the neo-conservatives’ ad-hominem attacks and straw-man arguments in 3…2…1…

I don’t see it that way.

I see it as a group of people who want their abnormality viewed as a civil right and will intimidate, belittle and marginalize those who disagree.

They call our ‘evidence’ a myth and a fairy tale. They see my opinion as inconsequential because I believe in ‘talking snakes’.

I am against same-sex marriage. I am sure we can figure out a way to help them with their complaints (many of which are valid), without debasing the sanctity of marriage.

They have the right to protest and boycot a business to try to get the owner to bend, but we have a right to support him and help him remain true to his convictions.

I wouldn’t want to think “Wendy’s“ is jumping on the ”Band Wagon” only to satisfy there own needs and that could possibly be the case here. Business is slow for many including “Wendy’s” so this may be a ploy to possibly boost there sales. I eat at Wendy’s anyway because I enjoy there food and will continue to do so. @RANGERP

I don’t disprove of Chik-Fil-A’s position because the CEO is a white guy hating gays. I think it’s just as disgraceful if a black, brown, yellow, red, green, etc. person hates gays.

My point is that every generation has its narrow-minded bigots. In the 50 and 60s there were people screaming about “American values” when referencing why Segregation was a good thing. Today, it’s the anti-gay protesters who think they are doing America a favor.

In 30 years, after this has all blown over and and gays are accepted members of society, they’ll post pictures of this Chik-Fil-A event in textbooks for the kids to laugh at. Saying, “How narrow minded our parents were! Look at how mean and unreasonable they are!” The same way I did when I saw this photo:

People on the left we be upset and leave hateful negative remarks on this post but we need to pray for them and not respond in like manner, with 2 negatives nothing positive will come out of it. We had a few protesters with their signs but people did not respond back to the negative slurs being made. All said and done God blessed Dan Cathy and his employee’s by showing his love, the Christian community came together with one heart and one mind and showed their love and support against the hate.

Mr Obama said the same thing as the CEO of Chick Fil A, and he was never labeled as a bigot? It was only over three years ago that he made the same claim.

Did you ever study world history? Are you aware that every super power nation or civilization that has excepted homosexuality as normal has soon after collapsed?

Homosexuality, bestiality, sex orgies, sex with children…. all became normal practice with the Romans in their latter days. imorality destroys nations, and it is destroying out nation.

Why do you supposed gays are only 2.5% of the population, and have 64% of the nations syphilis, made up 70% of new HIV cases last year, much higher suicide and drug and alcohol abuse rates? do you know they have a much lower life expectancy rate?

Yes, I agree that most likely in the near future, it will be considered normal. I also realize that we just passed Obama care and it is the largest tax increase in the history of the world. I also realize that our spending is out of control and getting worse. We spend more per student on education that any nation in the world, but our students keep dropping in the world standards in math and science. Yep, the progressives have taken hold, and they are like a cancer. you are steadily getting your way, and you are steadily destroying a nation. @MR. OSHAWOTT

Oh, they did so much more than “call out” the CEO of Chick-Fil-A for expressing his personal opinion. Public officials in two states are blocking the corporation from opening new restaurants in their areas simply because the CEO’s ideals are not in line with their own. That is called Fascism. I see one’s position on gay marriage as ancillary to the support of Chick-Fil-A. This is totally about one’s First Amendment rights and the free exercise thereof.

When it comes down to whether or not gay marriage becomes legal (it will likely never be fully accepted), one‘s opinions hold no more power than one’s vote, if one is granted the opportunity to vote on it.

Cathy asked his views, he stated them as a private citizen not as store policy. As a result liberal city officials began stating they will not allow Chick Fil A to open locations in their cities. Fascism, statism..take your pick BUSHIE..but that‘s what you’re supporting. Romney’s “candidacy remains tested by concerns over his business background and his reluctance to release more of his tax returns.” Both of these issues get to his credibility for some voters.
The sustained attacks by the Obama campaign on Romney’s tenure at Bain Capital have helped that concern along.
———————————–Romney’s own refusal to release more of than two years of his tax returns are contributing to the view that he has something to hide. And I contend that all of this is making it difficult for Romney’s economic message to break through.

Why should voters trust his plans for job creation if his tenure at Bain was about cutting jobs or shipping them overseas? ————————-Why should voters trust him to fix the tax code in a manner that would be fair to all and not simply the wealthy like him?

The tax-return issue is especially harmful because he looks shifty, like he has something to hide. His worry that his critics will use them to embarrass him, while understandable, is of no consequence to the American public.
——————————-They are asked to produce multiple years of tax returns for plenty of things less important than the privilege of being president of the United States. Romney is asking the American people to trust him with their lives and livelihood. —————————The least he could do is be transparent about his finances.

      But that’s part of Romney’s problem, isn’t

The FRC didn’t lobby against against the resolution. The resolution condemned putting people to death, btw. The lobbied against some language in the resolution that proclaimed that homosexual conduct is a worldwide recognized civil right. You might want to check the goings on in each of those nations. You will find that many of them are having some sever problems with Muslim crime, and many of them are not doing so hot economically. You will also find that their birthrate per citizen is so low as to not sustain their population, but the radical Muslims are breeding like rabbits, and will take over in the not so far off future.

You will also find that cancer is different than a heart attack. The heart attack kills you quick. Cancer takes a while, and slowly eats away. It gets to a certain point that it cannot be stopped. Homosexuality is like cancer.

The mayor of Boston said he didn’t want Chick-Fil-A in his city, but spoke at the ribbon cutting for the Islamic Society of Boston’s new mosque, to be built on ground basically given to it by the city. Islam is soooo tolerant in it’s views on gays.

At my Chic-Fil-A the line was out the door and through the parking lot……the drive through had about 30 to 40 cars in it…………AND in response to your remark: about 30% were African American including a man in his military uniform…..this had nothing to do with the color of skin and everything to do with religious persecution.

I had to pass, too. Our Chick Fil A is only about 30 minutes away, but my husband didn’t get away from the VA hospital until after 6:30 PM (with an appointment time of 10:00 – that was AM). Maybe all the employees went to Chick for lunch and couldn’t get back in time…..My MIL (near St. Louis) waited 3 hours and 40 minutes for her lunch.

There’s a real humanity..a sincerity..a “realness” if you will to the show of support for Chick Fil A.
I don’t see this from the left. The left protests and vilifies and destroys what is others’.
The story of the woman handing out gift certificates after being moved by the support for normal marriage and Cathy’s unashamed Christian views.. it really does move you to tears. There’s a warmth to it, a feeling of comfort. It’s just “real”.
It‘s in stark contrast to the left’s mean spirited reactions to Cathy’s personal views (which are not the policies of Chick FIl A).
The good guys won this one….no question. God bless all these good people who showed support for Cathy and Chick Fil A.

AVENGECAKE . . . Yes, it’s all so very real. These fine people eating junk food in solidarity. Standing together in quiet unity to support their right and the right of every American to deny the rights of other Americans.

For it is clearly far better to deny the right of two same sex people to marry – to restrict their societal and contractual rights as individuals and Americans – and in the denying celebrate the Cathay‘s right to describe such a union as inviting god’s judgment.

What the F is wrong with you people? The only thing “real” about this ginned up non-event is the bigotry and self-righteous indignation of the fat people in line. You and your ilk represent the worst of this country. And your days of dragging us into the past are very nearly over. You have about 100 days of whining left. Then it’s off to the ash heap with you, and not a day too soon. Don’t worry, we’ll toss in plenty of junk food to keep you busy.

      @ HorseDancer

Meanwhile, you are supporting the violation of freedom of speech and commerce with your support in progressive, bigoted statement. Quite Ironic if you ask me.

      1) I support Gay Unions.
      2) I do not support the term Gay Marriage. In truth, marriage is a religious institution. Always have been. There is no right to marriage. It is an agreement. What you fail to see is by attaching the marriage, you are directly attacking Churches’ positions against it (IE will force Churches to marry gays and lesbians). When in truth, civil unions and domestic partnerships are completely within the grounds of governmental oversight. Churches refusing to marry is a mute point. It is like forcing Jews and Muslims to eat pork. You do not have to agree with the opposition, but be respectful of it.
      3) No one is taking away a right. Gays can still live together, love together, business (not religious institutions) can not refuse service that they offer to the general public. You need to read the Civil Rights Act of 1964. It does not cover membership related organizations (like a country club).

So, who’s rights are you trying to violate? The freedom of commerce and speech?

You have a right to speak your mind my friend. Please allow others theirs. Now that is a true Liberal position. The fact you have to result to attacks and vial hate speech proves you are no better than those you condemn.

      HorseDancer,

Read 2 Timothy Chapter 3, it is particularly applicable to you.

1 But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come: 2 For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, 3 unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good, 4 traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, 5 having a form of godliness but denying its power. And from such people turn away! 6 For of this sort are those who creep into households and make captives of gullible women loaded down with sins, led away by various lusts, 7 always learning and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth. 8 Now as Jannes and Jambres resisted Moses, so do these also resist the truth: men of corrupt minds, disapproved concerning the faith; 9 but they will progress no further, for their folly will be manifest to all, as theirs also was. 0 But you have carefully followed my doctrine, manner of life, purpose, faith, longsuffering, love, perseverance, 11 persecutions, afflictions, which happened to me at Antioch, at Iconium, at Lystra—what persecutions I endured. And out of them all the Lord delivered me. 12 Yes, and all who desire to live godly in Christ Jesus will suffer persecution. 13 But evil men and impostors will grow worse and worse, deceiving and being deceived.

Yes! After reading all these posts I agree. A real humanity! Nothing but love and compassion. It is truly inspiring! A country united behind it’s religious beliefs! The majority flexing it’s might against the minority of GLBT sodomites!

Eating at Chik-Fil-A is like Martin Luther King marching in Selma, Alabama

It is really heart warming to see so many people rally around their Freedom of Speech…. Protecting the “sanctity of marriage” and “Family Values” that the sodomites want to undermine.

It’s not the high divorce rate in America that is destroying the fabric of our nation, nor is it all the pre-marital sex, nor all the cheaters that perform adultery, nor the perverts that abuse and molest children, and certainly not abuse and addiction to drugs, alcohol, and prescription drugs, or the incredible rate of teenage pregnancy and un-wed mothers…. It’s the GLBT community that want the same rights for housing, job discrimination, taxes, immigration, and marriage.

Thank goodness all these people went to a Chicken Fast Food restaurant to show that they cannot tolerate the GLBT sodomites that want equal rights! Way to go!

In November, the Republicans will sweep into office and once and for all restore America to it’s greatness!

I am just so proud to be an American I could cry!

      http://www.ncpa.org/pub/what-is-classical-liberalism

Most Classical Liberals would be classified as Conservatives in today standards… There is nothing liberating about the progressive movement, thus liberal should not apply. Liberal does not mean free to do what you like. It means being free to follow your desires while aware of the impact onto and of others with every action. It is about being responsible for yourself and relying less on others.

horse sexual preference is just that… preference. but lets take your side for a minute and remove God from the topic and say that gays are born that way. If you have an animal not quite flawed enough to die but not of good enough genetic material to be put back in to the gene pool then what mechanism do you suppose a godless nature would employ to ensure those genes do not get recirculated? I would guess its instinct to reproduce would simply be switched off. If you are born that way and there is no God then that must be the explanation for homosexuality right?
