‘This Is What Flailing Looks Like’: Watch Fox Panel Rip Gingrich’s Nevada Speech

Fox News Channel analysts seemed stunned by Newt Gingrich’s post-Nevada speech Saturday, calling it everything from “not pretty” to a “very strange event.”

Following his defeat in the state’s caucuses, Gingrich held a news conference rather than a traditional rally. He dismissed rumors that he would be dropping out of the race for the GOP presidential nomination, vowing to fight on.

“For a political analyst I think this will be remembered as one of the most remarkable moments of the entire 2012 election,” The Hill’s A.B. Stoddard said. “He came out and wandered into the minutiae about petty complaints…he was in the weeds. It was a very, very strange event.”

Charles Krauthammer said Gingrich’s speech represented “the best of Newt and the worst of Newt” — describing what he called President Barack Obama’s attack on religious institutions and defending freedom in the country was good, but his attacks on rival Mitt Romney, who won the state handily, were “astonishing.”

Bill Kristol of the Weekly Standard was perplexed by Gingrich’s reference to Nevada as a “heavily Mormon state,“ calling it ”an odd statement” for him to make, and said he was “being a political analyst, not the candidate.”

“This is what flailing looks like,” Weekly Standard writer Stephen Hayes summed up. “This was not a pretty performance I think by Newt Gingrich….He makes these arguments that undermine the rationale for his own campaign. He says ‘well, Mitt Romney was dishonest on the stage next to me.‘ What does he think Barack Obama’s going to be? ‘I was outspent.‘ What does he think Barack Obama’s going to do?”

Romney is a smug used care salesman one term govenor who couldn’t run for a 2nd term since no one would vote for him. He also lost big time when he ran for MA senators and Romney lost to a RINO like McCain.

Romney is not Christian and neither is Obama. Their believe systems did NOT found our country.

You are right. I am so tired of hearing them slamming Newt so that they can get in their prized Mitt Romney. It is so disgusting. No, they don’t give anyone else the time of day. Fair and balanced? I don’t think so. Not anymore. I don’t know why anyone would want to be POTUS having to go up against the biased Media. If they don’t like you, you’re toast. It doesn’t matter if the other candidates may have a chance, they will slander them until it catches on. The only way of getting around this is to not listen to them but sad to say, too many people believe their rhetoric and so we end up with who they want in.

He is not Obama lite….There is very little difference between he and the great divider…He will be a disaster as POTUS….And like all the rest, will expend almost no effort in fulfilling his “promises” to those who trust him to do what he says he will….Why would he want to overturn Obamacare..? Gingrich is well positioned to win the nomination. He is strong in the remaining states. He’ll soon catch up with Romney in the delegate count and then surpass him. He’ll win the nomination and then the Presidency.

Romney is a liberal, perhaps even a communist, who is flying a false flag in order to garner votes from the stupid and ill-informed. If Romney were elected President, he’d ignore to common man, like you and me, and ignore the poor, in order to change the country into one ruled by the richest: one dollar, one vote, like all the rich liberal elites would. He’d eliminate universal health care and let the poor die in their own homes for conditions easily treatable, and let children starve rather than provide any support for the poorest among us. His proposed tax plan dramatically reduces taxes on rich people like him (it would cut his taxes in half) while taxing you and me more. Even if he’s not a communist per se, he’s at least a radical socialist.

Newt is in favor of you and me. He‘s said it over and over and he wouldn’t lie. NEWT GINGRICH IN 2012!!!

I wonder if support for Newt is mostly driven more by dislike for Romney than like for Newt. I dislike Romney, but I find it stunning that anyone can consider Newt a conservative. The only way is for them to ignore a full half (if not more) of everything he says and to be utterly ignorant of his decades of voting record. Newt is a giant government, internationalist progressive. If people who call themselves conservative are in favor of Newt for all of his progressive policies and idolization of the biggest (read worst) progressive presidents in our history, that is fine, but they should understand that conservative is the wrong word to describe themselves. I find it amazing that all the conservatives who lamented the liberals ignoring Obama’s massive shortcomings because of his flowery rhetoric, are doing EXACTLY the same thing with Newt. Newt talks a good game, of that, there is no doubt. He is a brilliant man with a biting tounge and that carries a certain satisfaction for people who have had to deal with the non-response of the right to the non-stop far left rhetoric we’ve been forced to digest over the last several years. But to buy into someone who always tells you what you want to hear, and puts liberals in their place, while ignoring his true nature and intentions puts you in exactly the same category as the Obama faithful. Newt is the only candidate that guarantees my 3rd party vote. PLEASE do more research. If you like Obama, you’re gonna LOVE Newt.

Since the Constitution is based on the Bible, then it would behoove evangelical Christians to support the candidate whose political philosophy most closely lines up with the Constitution.

The reason why many evangelicals do not support Ron Paul is simply that they are uninformed as to the other candidates’ unconstitutional or even socialistic record on some issues, and have not listened to Ron Paul. Furthermore, like sheep, they follow the crowd, such as the group of 150 evangelical leaders who steered them toward a ‘moderate’ candidate, which some might call an unconstitutional contender (Romney/Santorum/Gingrich).

      People, we better wake up:
It is official: Elections in America are a complete hoax
It is now almost 24 hours after voters in Nevada went to their caucuses to try to cast their votes and we still mysteriously only have results for 71.1% of the caucuses . The remaining caucuses that are still not reported actually make up the most populated caucuses in the entire state. We were told late last night that all the votes cast in Clark County had to be recounted to ensure accuracy before they would release any of the numbers to the press. Excuse me?

Where does one even begin to voice their outrage regarding this complete joke of a corrupt system we are all witnessing? If you believe the results finally coming out of Nevada, you must be living on Fantasy Island. How can caucuses that count their votes right there at the precincts have to conduct complete recounts many hours after they are over and almost everyone has gone home before they will even report most of the counts in the entire state to the public?…

Define the meaning of “vicious and nasty”? How would you describe you and your spouse? And just what is “presidential”? And, what has Newt’s age, or his wife’s “looks” have to do with this election? As far as Romney being a “smug used car salesman”, how does that disqualify him? As far as him not being a “christian”, the name of his church is “The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter- day Saints, and contrary to popular belief they worship Jesus Christ as the savior of the world, recognize the Bible as the word of God, and follow the teachings of Jesus Christ as well as any other “christian” church does. By the way, Christianity is not a religion, it is a philosophy based upon the teachings of Jesus Christ, and all Christian churches are founded on that philosophy. If you want to be concerned about something, look at the policies each candidate is presenting to solve the problems we face and determine how those policies line up with the Constitution of the United States. That is really what this election is all about. Are we as a nation going to continue to be governed by the rule of law embodied in the Constitution, or are we going to be ruled by the despotism, monarchy, socialism, communism, democracy, or theocracy that rules the rest of the world? To make an informed decision will require reading the Constitution and learning about the history of our country. The man we elect is not as important as the principles he espouses and has proven to uphold.

    Yawn

Fox news is ALWAYS ripping Gingrich or Paul or ignoring Santorum. Fox is so Pro-Romney – I don’t watch Fox anymore which leaves me with the Internet to get my political news.

Here is an FOX EXAMPLE of fair and balanced.

Fox and Friends on two different occasions used military vets as props to hurt Ron Paul. They “choose” 3 veterans non of which supported Ron Paul and then let each person speak for awhile on why they supported Gingrich or Romney or Santorum and why they didn’t support Ron Paul.

Both of these staged biased vet events had NO Ron Paul supporter although Ron Paul gets more money from the military than any of the other candidates and Ron Paul is the ONLY military veteran running. Brian Kilmead ran the first biased group and that awful female on Fox and Friend Saturday ran the 2nd biased group. I stopped watchng Fox shortly thereafter.

Bill O’Reilly in one FAMOUS FEAT OF BIASED BEHAVIOR hd Ann Coulter on TWICE in one week BEFORE the elections and gave her a 15 minute platform to SPEW against Gingrich, Santorum and Paul while praising Romney. Where was the 15 times for supporters of Gingrich, Paul or Santorum? NOT SO FAIR AND BALANCED.

Also O’Reilly has “pretend” political fair and balanced paid Fox political pundits who are for the most part EX RINO BUSH employees (Rove/Perino/DeeDee, etc) or RINO Bush supporters (Krauthammer/Hume, etc) and NOT surprisingly those RINO Bush supporters – ALL PROMOTE RINO MITT ROMNEY.

Agreed – FOX is on a downhill slope, though I, for one, have not yet given up on them simply because there isn’t another that is even half as good (or, is more than twice as bad).

O’Reilly always bent over backwards in his fair/balanced thing and seemed to generally end up being a non-conservative.

Beck was great – but then the Soros people got to FOX and drove him out. Tried his GBTV, but there were technical problems and his customer support effort was, quite simply, the worst I have ever had the misfortune to deal with, for any product, from any company, period. Such a rotten taste in my mouth I can’t imagine giving them a second try, though I miss Beck’s insight terribly.

The absolute low point, though, was the night O’Donnell got her victory as the elected candidate of the people of her state. So, FOX has Rove on – allegedly a Republican but in fact a shill for the GOP establishment – and he absolutely EXCORIATED O’Donnell, calling her more vicious and vile names than any Rat ever would dare. Destroyed her candidacy the very night she won appointment by the people. Absolutely HATE Rove for that, can’t STAND every time I see his bloated, narcissistic face on FOX (which is way, way too often).

Hate to think FOX will go away, since there is not a replacement in sight, but it seems they are content to slip away. Sad.

FOX is pushing the candidate most likely to win. Why? Because that is all we have people. Paul and Santorum have no chance of winning. Realistically,it is what it is.What the candidates need to do is run ads showing the nastiness of the Obama and Hillary campaigns against each other and their opponents. FOX has allot of inside info that we don’t have. ANY candidate would be better than OBAMA. Newt needs to choose his battles more carefully. He was correct in his statement that Romney being a Morman helped him in this primary. However, until the GOP remind people that the Dems were equally as nasty people will believe the mainstream medias take on our candidates. It looks like Romney will win and FOX knows it. What scares the heck out of me is the mainstream medias coverage of Romney. I said it before either the Dems have enough on Romney to be confident they will beat him or they believe Romney will carry out the progressive agenda if he were to win. He is a threat either way. Will I vote for him against Obama, regretfully so because we have to start somewhere. Will I pay attention to what happens if he is elected, you are damn right I will. Our job to stand up for our country will not be done if we win. We have to continue and take more responsibility as citizens to educate and keep up to date with those in office at every level and hold them accountable. It has taken years for the progressives to get this far and it will take us years to straighten out the mess.

Oh you are so right – just like Hillary had it all locked up last time. Sorry, I forgot so please tell me how that worked out again?

Silly arguments are what you are spewing. What is wrong with letting the process work itself out? The longer this goes on the less time Obama and all his minions have time to put out distorted things about his oponent. He will not run on his record and will rely solely on lies and distortions so I say make them all wait!

Besides – look what happens every time we nominate a moderate. First I remember G.H.W. Bush abandoning Reaganism and going moderate, raising taxes and bingo – voted out of office. Next we get another moderate in Bob Dole – Sorry Charlie! That weak moderate stuff again won’t hunt. Then we know these two couldn’t win it so lets just keep trying and go with McLame! What? He lost too? OK, let’s just keep this train running on the old failed path and go with another lame moderate and prop up Romney! Just how many times are we going to see this pattern repeat itself before realizing its time to do something different. Ron Paul is nuts so that leaves us with the only two left – Gingrich who has proven he can get things done even with a lot of baggage or Santorum who everybody keeps trying to ignore and marginalize. So, let it play out and hope we get someone other than Romney who history has proven will lose!

Even more important is a conservative senate and house that will pass legislation for tax reform, balanced budget and dare we add term limits? We need a firm foreign policy that does not rebuild our enemies and secure borders and a way to bring in legal labor in an efficient fashion. Lots to do. We need to right the court and legislature so the pres can pass, if not push a conservative agenda.

It won’t make any difference because the Republicans hate each other as much as they hate everyone else. There is no unity amongst the GOP. Except for their hatred of the Obama Administration. The only unified action in the Republican party has been to throw as many obstacles in the path of progress as they can. It was Bush who created this mess in the first place. The country said BYE BYE to the Republican way of doing things and put B.O. in office. Your guys were so embittered by this humiliation that the only thing they could do is vow to screw things up even more and then try to blame Obama for it. As for the Mormon comment, I don’t think he is gonna pee any Mormons off that were gonna vote for him. A Mormon votes for a Mormon regardless even if they knew any Mormon candidate was a thief, liar or anything else. The fact he is a fellow Mormon gets the vote alone. I have two minds in regards to the Republicans going after each other – one is get this stuff out in the primaries and avoid an October Surprise by Obama and opposing that is the idea this trash talk is going to be part of the liberal media and DNC ads until the election, blacking the eye of the candidate that ultimately wins the primary. So far no candidate had risen above this divisive behavior and I suppose one can argue that Obama is going to be as tough, if not tougher, once they are running against him so better buckle up now. It just is unsettling to me how the conservatives are doing just as many body slams to the candidates that the left is doing. While I want my candidate fully vetted, I don’t want him blooded to the point of life support. The MSM is going to ask questions to make Republicans look bad – refuse to fall into their trap and correct them when necessary but don’t use this as a tool to avoid answering questions you don’t want to answer. All the candidates need to tout their vision and policies and start running against Obama instead of throwing punches at fellow Republicans. We need to defeat Obama, to put this country back on the track of prosperity and stop the entitlement mentality that is developing. Choose the candidate you feel will best reflect your views but support all the candidates running, find agreement where you can and just remember, all four are a better alternative to the present occupier of the White House.

Rick Santorum opposed TARP, didn’t follow the pro-bailout GOP crowd, opposed the auto bailout, Freddie and Fannie bailout … and individual health care mandates. He voted against cap and trade, voted yes to drilling in ANWR and hasn’t written any ‘Contracts with the Earth.’ He is strong on border security, national security, and defense. He is an eloquent spokesperson for the culture of life, upholding traditional family values — not just in word, but in deed. He won Iowa through hard work and competent campaign management. Santorum has improved in every GOP debate … and he rose above the fray by sticking to issues. Newt is not a conservative and the Tea Party is being duped and not doing their homework. Looking at Santorum’s broader record in Congress reveals that he is plenty comfortable with having the federal government tell you what to do on a large number of issues, only when it comes to health care mandates does Santorum become wary.

Michael Tanner of the National Review explains this aspect of Santorum’s record in Congress well.
” He never met an earmark that he didn’t like. In fact, it wasn’t just earmarks for his own state that he favored, which might be forgiven as pure electoral pragmatism, but earmarks for everyone, including the notorious “Bridge to Nowhere.” The quintessential Washington insider, he worked closely with Tom DeLay to set up the “K Street Project,” linking lobbyists with the GOP leadership. He voted against NAFTA and has long opposed free trade. He backed higher tariffs on everything from steel to honey. He still supports an industrial policy with the government tilting the playing field toward manufacturing industries and picking winners and losers.”
British columnist James Delingpole echoed the sentiments of Tanner saying “The truth is Rick Santorum is so left on the issues that matter he makes even Mitt Romney look like a red meat conservative.

Newt got less than 23% of the vote and said he’s “right where he wants to be?” Yeah, right.

Here’s the real Newt Gingrich: “I’m not a natural leader. I’m too intellectual; I’m too abstract; I think too much.” ~Newt Gingrich, admitting that he’s an intellectual elite incapable of leading.

I think you should be asking: Will the real Mitt Romney please stand up. Mitt Romney is so confused even he doesn’t know where he stands. Mitt is no good for America. Look up Bilderberg Group NWO globalists and you will find Mitt, but you won’t find Newt. Newt is our only answer to getting America back on track.

Well, they needed to say something! Aside from endorsing the New York (liberal elite city) “Giants” in Superbowl; there was not a shred of “news” in Newt’s loss -Or his speech -Or his answers to press questions. So they had to make up a storyline. That is the fair and balanced thing to do.

I hope and pray he will do what he knows, encouarge business, be a moral leader for our country, listen to good advisors that he carefully picks to protect and defend the constitution, and our countries safety, get our economy going, fire every czar, and a whoe lot of people in the justice dept, the epa, and fannie and freddie. He knows how to do that, and our country never, ever needed someone who could fire people more. Most off all I want him to beat the pants off the userper in the white house now, and then stomp on toes until this country goes back where it needs to be. Oh I hope he also looks very closely at the dept of education. I will be praying hard for him to find the right person for VP and as advisors to clean (White) House so this country will be proud of it’s president after four years of a marxist. I think I am going to have some faith in him, and hold his feet to the fire in four years, if that doesn’t work out.

he was “being a political analyst, not the candidate.” Well duh. Newt is a Council on Foreign Relations think tank progressive aka globalist aka NWO. Period.
