‘This Machine Is Very Dangerous for Anyone’: Couple Tries to Smuggle Baby in a Bag Through Airport X-Ray

DUBAI, United Arab Emirates (The Blaze/AP) — Local newspapers in the United Arab Emirates say authorities are investigating an Egyptian couple who tried to sneak their infant into the Gulf country by hiding him in their carry-on luggage.

Monday’s reports say authorities discovered the baby at Sharjah airport when it showed up on an X-ray scan of the bag. Carry-on luggage is typically scanned at Emirati airports on arrival, after passengers have their passports stamped.

The Gulf News says the baby boy had no passport, visa or other documents allowing him entry to the UAE:

“When customs officials saw the baby inside the bag at the X-ray scanner, they were stunned.

“This machine is very dangerous for anyone, let alone a baby in a bag to pass through.

“A case will now be raised against the mother and father, they both have visas to come to the UAE, but they have put the life of their child at risk.”

The paper and The National daily are quoting police as saying the unidentified parents put the child’s life at risk with the scheme. The case is being handed over to prosecutors.

Sharjah officials did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Hey, you have to toughen up those little jihadists somehow – a good dose of radiation and rough handling will only make the kid a stronger, more determined terrorist when he grows up.

Those people should be sent back to where they came from. England, as America has more than enough of these people to deal with. We need to send about all of them home we do have. Get them out for they will keep trying to take over.

Why did they do that? It must have been a girl. They probably wanted to sue the airline or something. They need to stay at home or assimilate into the English culture. Leave your culture and know you are entering another country. No one elses changes their cultures to suit Americans or those of different cultures. Stay at home or get your ducks in a row is what they should be told.

Those airport baggage x-rays are too powerful to be safely used on humans.
Someone please take this baby away from these two dumb @$$es.
Good chance the baby was heavily sedated to keep him quiet.

What’s with that STUPID LOOKING BURQA?

But, if they had stayed in Egypt, they obviously felt the child would be in more danger, so which is the worse abuse? Giving the child what you feel in your heart is no chance at real freedom, or passing him through an X-Ray machine? The normal folks are getting out of Egypt because they can see what’s coming. This how I ended up in America. One of my Great Grandfathers left Germany for the U.S. in the late 1890′s because he saw the direction Europe and his country were going. I expect many Egyptians to be doing the same right about now.

But I recommend they put in requests for immigration and asylum to their country of choice, if the Egyptian government still allows for such a thing.

I agree, but you say that like there arn’t complete fools here in the U.S. that wouldn’t do exactly the same thing.. As far as I know they haven’t (or at least it hasn’t been reported), but you and I both know that some folks here (like Obama voters) are so stupid that they wouldn’t see anything wrong with this…

@Onikaze – That is only because thanks to the TSA, any babies that are larger than 3 ounces need to be pulled out of your carry-on, placed in a clear plastic bag, and scanned seperately.

Strange but true. My Grandfather was told that he had to have his left arm cut off up to the elbow, because gangrene had set in. He told the Doctors to screw off. He self-treated his left arm, and recovered 100% use of his left arm. This makes me wonder if today’s Doctors have any creds as real Doctors.

Diane, doctors are nothing but frauds, they don’t truly want a cure for anything, they would go out of business. Patients are nothing but lab rats for them to play with.

That reminds me of the resident Dr. who gave me an ultrasound in the ER when I came in with the thought that I was having a miscarriage. He said that I had a miscarriage and that I would probably never be able to have children because I had “a wall” down through the middle of my uterus. I told him to tell that to my 7 yr. old. The next day I had a tech. give me an ultrasound and found out that the “wall” in my uterus was actually two amniotic sacks and that I was pregnant with healthy twins!

As you can imagine, I have my issues with doctors as well.

PAs, MDs, DOs, etc are not frauds nor always out to make a quick buck. Many areas of modern medicine are still in their infancy because there is so much added red tape from tons of paperwork and lawsuits. Why does everything has to be a conspiracy with you people??

@diane. people get 2nd/ 3rd opions for a reason. doctors are people not gods. i’m glad your grandfather did not die because he treated himself, but there have been many that have. The truth is that if the infection had been bad enough amputating his arm might not have been enough to save his life.

Hem… So the bag X-ray is dangerous to all but a body scan isn’t? I read the fed supported wiki site about exposure no hard numbers, just vague comparisons…

Funny they’ll (wrongly) claim annual mammography for women at 40 isn’t good (yes it saves lives but at higher cost to uncle Sam than if we let the 40 year olds die and just save 50 and older) but act like the sometimes weekly or bimonthly exposures to fly are of no worry…

I‘ve seen the ’have you or a loved one had a ct and then been diagnosed with a cancer’ ads… Ed docs order studies to cover their keesters, since the Feds won’t protect them, leaving them open torrid loos suits from the frequent flers who wouldn’t take no for an answer, but we can’t sue uncle sugar for the contribution to national cancer spikes… No, weak and frail, just line up for the death panel, et, I mean the cost benefit czar…

“A case will now be raised against the mother and father, they both have visas to come to the UAE, but they have put the life of their child at risk.”

Here’s how it will play out in this upside-down culture of theirs: Dad gets fined $1, Mom gets an “honor killing” for disgracing the child & husband. Next, the husband will have sexual rights to his dead wife for a couple of hours while his attorney goes through his little black book of past temporary wives to get the shamed husband with a new wife, most likely a 12 yr old girl who will be raped several times to consummate the marriage under Sharia Law.

OK, I really don’t understand this story. Is the baby theirs? The baby was born after they had their passports, and there wasn’t time for them to get the baby a passport? Is the baby someone else’s child, and they were smuggling the baby into the Country for someone else? I have so many questions about this.

It says the baby is theirs and that it has no passport..What they didn’t say is the age of the child..Maybe they obtained their passports when she was still pregnant..at any rate..they most likely do not understand the dangers of “radiation’ and perhaps they did not have the money or the time to obtain a passport.. A passport does take some time to get..a few months isn’t it?
