Thousands Run in Underwear to Protest ‘Uptight’ Laws in Utah

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Thousands of people stripped to their underwear and ran through Salt Lake City to protest what they called the “uptight” laws of Utah.

Undie Run organizer Nate Porter says the goal of the event Saturday was to organize people frustrated by the conservative nature of the state’s politics.

Nudity was prohibited by organizers. Participants donned bras, panties, nightgowns, swimwear or colorful boxer shorts — and some added political messages by expressing support for causes like gay marriage on their chests, backs or legs.

Salt Lake City is the home of the Mormon church, which is a vocal opponent of gay marriage.

Porter estimates 3,000 people participated in the run, which began in downtown Salt Lake City and circled past the state Capitol building about a mile away.

Editor’s note: The Associated Press story calls Salt Lake City the home of the “Mormon church.” The actual name is Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

KSTU-TV:

“My goal is to change Utah. To make this state lighten up once and for all,” said Nate Porter, organizer for the run. “I’m trying to draw people in that are jaded by politics.”

Dressed in only panties and boxers, thousands packed the Gallivan Center and made a dash towards Utah’s capitol. For some, the run came with a message.

“This is all about peace, love and supporting equal rights for LDS, non-LDS, gay, straight, doesn’t matter,” said Lisa Jackman.

But some worry that the message was lost; so many were focused on the fun and the idea of dancing in their drawers.

“I see a lot of political messages maybe, but honestly I’m just here to have a lot of fun,” said Kevin Norton. “I don’t look at this stuff, I don’t pay attention to it.”

Thousands protested, they were in their underwear….no one got raped, beat up. There were no stores robbed, cars burned and turned over. No one got shot, stabbed or arrested. Where in the hell were the blacks and hispanics? A perfect opportunity for pants on the ground if I ever saw it…. lol

Great ! Gays freed ! No violence ! No rapes! No robberies ! Brilliant CHAZZYOK.
However, you miss the point. The whole idea is to force their gayness and the same rights to rob and rape and commit other acts of violence as freely as everywhere else – on Utah – a populace which doesn’t want it.
This insidious act of “peace” is more dangerous than you can apparently see.

“But some worry that the message was lost; so many were focused on the fun and the idea of dancing in their drawers.”

They’ve been brainwashed into a love and tolerance philosophy so often their entire lives they react simply to the thought of it without really knowing why. I wonder if they could accept it if they know they are responding exactly as they were programmed to do? I think there’s no doubt they would lyingly deny it.

It’s kind of like the soldier who has been programmed to follow orders and will even fire on unarmed civilians without knowing why simply because he was ordered to do so by his programmers.

Some experts, like Glenn Beck, are trying to reverse this mindset by preaching the truth and sanity, but I think it’s a futile….even though admirable….attempt. PC is now too greatly ingrained in Western thought and the organs or communications are still mostly controlled by the master seditionists who only have to use buzz words like “racist” or “hater” to bring those who might question them back into the herd.

Only civil war will save the West.

“Robert: pretty good except for that last line. What kind of civil war did you have in mind?”

Multicultural societies DO NOT work. The broken failures inundate the historical landscape of those that have tried.

Before this downward spiraling economic situation came about many analysts were telling us exactly that and warning that the creation of a tribalized system of contentious cultures was a recipe for disaster. It was the contention of many that the only thing necessary to cause chaotic civil strife was a catalyst like an economic plunge or a calamitous natural disaster, causing societal ruin, and we would be off and running in full CWII mode, because of the tremendous hate and dissension from so many groups during even boom times, a scenario that should not be so explosive as it has been.

What do you think Glenn aludes to so often but doesn’t really come right out and say?

It is not only the tribal factor, but the deterioration of society that has lost its moral compass will be to blame as well.

But, more importantly, the militant Hispanic groups in the West and Southwest who threaten to take over or the black militants all over the US who threaten violence repeatedly, in addition to the black and Hispanic street gangs that basically represent no less than an army for each group, this society is a cauldron on the verge of boiling over, as Tom Chittum explains in his book, CWII.

Darn straight. Why would we ever want women to have the personal freedom to choose their own mode of dress? We should legislate that! Perhaps some sort of outfit where only their eyes show. We could even mandate a screen over the eyes too, allowing vision, but preventing any glint of provocative intent from showing.

Idaho has seen more than its fair share of Californians, and we have to fight them every step of the way to keep them from turning our state into a mini-California. Gosh, the problems Utah (where my parents were born and reared) doesn’t have are amazing. If that is being an “uptight” state I wish the rest were as “uptight”. Silly kids will get to explain that one to their kids someday. Some people are not getting the memo on “what utube can do for you!” I am sure their parents are so proud, and wondering in some cases if their kids remembered the old adage about being in clean underwear, and if it’s time to ask about that extra 20 pounds. (Maybe the parental disapproval can be less home cooked meals from Mom!) Utahans are pretty unflappable, they probably just shook their heads and went on about their business.

Funny. They didn’t stick around to be counted to brreak the Guiness record! That was the only thing that they could have actually ACCOMPLISHED with the hare brained stunt. Also, nothing like doing the same thing as everyone in a crowd to demonstrate your “individuality”!

If this clown Nate Porter thinks he’s going to change Utah into something resembling California, he’s dead wrong. I believe the well armed, independent, God fearing folks in Utah will crush his dreams in nothing flat.

If Americans get raped of the 2nd amendment, we are truly screwed. However, why would anyone essentially threaten some idiot underwear wearer while being well armed? That threat makes no sense because the useful idiots are not the problem.

      Non-Regulator

You don’t stop, drop and roll at the mere mention of the word “Armed” do you?

No one threatened anyone. Its just that if some group of misguided clowns think they are going to waltz, skip, or sashay their way into Utah and change things, they better bring their lunch ’cause the folks of Utah don’t strike me as the type who would go without a fight.

Wonder how many kids would support those perverts that some are more than likely running beside. I can’t believe how braiwashed and stupid some people have become.

Perverts? Was anyone raped at this event? Was anyone who was in his or her underwear even made to feel uncomfortable (any more than one of us might be, so exposed)? The story certainly doesn’t mention it. It’s mere conjecture that “perverts” were involved in some way. Unless, of course, you‘re suggesting that merely appearing publicly in one’s swim suit (or underwear, which shows just as much of the body) is perverted, which I don’t think you are.

LTHM, normal people don’t go out in public in their underwear. Ever heard of no shoes, no shirt, no service?

Let’s just hope the undergarments were…. supportive. Actually, having been a member of Gold’s Gym in Utah County, I can’t say it was all that more revealing than a normal day working out. Maybe a bit more back hair… Loved spotting the Pac Man guys in the video, but what WERE they actually running to accomplish?

I’m not a troll, I am being honest.
I seem to be getting some wonderful reactions ,however, so I guess I’m trolling successfully without even trying.

      Yo Discord;
Trolling is catching something, not turning them away.
If people are awesome why do you wish to anger them.

Personal freedom to do what? Run around in your underwear? Freedom to be less uptight? These morons didn’t even know what they were protesting. Only thing they proved was that most of them need to hit the inside of the gym a little more often.
