Updated: Dude had a concussion, probably from the fall, no word as to what caused the collapse. My guess would be dehydration…

With sports pushing people to do stupid things for bigger paychecks, I am really hoping we find out he was hiding a fever and had the flu.

I don’t want to tell my daughter that this was because of substance abuse. But, then, that could be a teachable moment couldn’t it.

We must have a massive government regulatory program to ensure that incidents like this do not happen again.

Yes! I bet Pelow already is ready to spend some more of your money.

Lets name a new bill ( The Ondrej Pavelec Goalie Bill) to regulate goalie equipment, better educate and to have elaborate workshops for goalies.

We can have workshops ( for example. over diets, how to put on the equipment right, how to handle your family, how to tie your skates, and psychological stressors of having pucks hit at you) all over the world in the off-season.

This is not a waste of money, it will create jobs…After all you have to “spend” your way out of the hole your in!

Well in all serious, I hope he is doing well now

Yes, just what we need – more massive government regulations. We just don’t have enough yet. Don’t misunderstand me, I have great sympathy for this young man and hope he fully recovers and is a minor issue. However, MASSIVELY regulating what? Hockey? His diet? His exercise program? Let’s just call ourselves a nanny state and get on with it, shall we? Government isn’t the answer – it’s the problem.

ATLANTA (AP) – Atlanta Thrashers goalie Ondrej Pavelec was in stable condition at a hospital Friday night after collapsing to the ice in the early minutes of the season-opening game against the Washington Capitals.

Thrashers GM Rick Dudley told The Associated Press during the second intermission that the 23-year-old Pavelec had regained consciousness.

“We probably won’t know anything more until after the game,” Dudley said of Pavelec, who lost consciousness and was taken to a hospital for further evaluation.

Early in the third period, the team released a statement saying preliminary tests failed to determine any serious health problems.

“He’s awake, alert and asking about the score of the game, but will be kept overnight for observation,” the statement said.

      Any other updates???
