Toddler Rescued From Toy Crane Machine in Pa. Mall

MCKEES ROCKs, Pa. (AP) — Authorities say a 2-year-old girl spent 15 minutes stuck inside a toy crane vending machine in a Pittsburgh-area mall.

Moon Run Fire Chief Paul Kashmer tells WPXI-TV that the girl didn’t seem upset by the ordeal Wednesday night in the food court at the Mall of Robinson, in Robinson Township. Kashmer says firefighters arrived to find “the cutest little girl in a pink outfit sucking her binky inside with the other toys.”

The girl apparently climbed up the chute into which the coin-operated crane drops prizes. Kashmer used a tool to pry open a door on the machine to reach the girl.

The vending company hasn’t been identified.

Independent thought and initiative so young? Alert! We need Pre-Pre Pre-school and put a stop to this very dangerous development. Unchecked this could endanger our collective groupthink srtategy..
Good thing we caught it early.

That kid is fair game once inside the machine.
I’ve seen Mexicans lined up to clear those things out with only a handful of quarters.

She’s nothing more than a little thief. Shoulda left her in there to teach her that stealing is a sin. God could have gotten her out if he felt she deserved to be free.

I look at this story as The Greatest Of the Week. Kids will be kids and for once can politics be kept out. This story made my day! That little girl is such a doll, too bad no one had a video. Uplifting story!! My daughters are all grown up now and I can remember the funny stuff they did.

(sarcasticly folks) what a great contrast to all the bad news out there lately.

Ok, back to the “real” question….Where were her parents?
I am sorry, but at 2 years old I never let my kids get that far from me that they could do something like that without me stopping them.
And I think that is what this story should be about, not the fact that the little girl, who is unhurt and was probably having fun with the stuffed animals, was stuck there.
The real story is where were the parents as the childs squired and pulled and tried to get in there, I am sure she didn’t just go up and climb in like it was nothing, I have a hard time getting the animals out of those machines, never mind getting a kid instide one.

Sorry, you aren‘t going to get me to believe that your kid has never run off at that age to where you’ve had to hunt him or her down. Adventurous two-year olds can disappear in the wink of an eye.

Lol! Who would have thought that a kid would do that? That’s why you have to watch them with eagle eyes. You never know what they’re going to do next.

I hope she got one of those cute toys for her trouble.

While this is true, Pottersville, and I too have heard Glenn tell us to avoid violence and try to let go of anger and hatred, I have also heard him, numerous times, speak of his guns, the safe and locking gun cabinets in which he keeps them, and the peace of mind that he has found, knowing that his family is secure. On more than one occasion he has said to us, “If you own a gun, make sure that you know how to use it and if you don’t own a gun, consider getting one.“ He tells a story about how he trusts his neighbor ”because he has a gun and he trusts me because I have a gun.” I suppose that it’s rather analogous to nations who are equally armed: the fact that either nation can immediately retaliate keeps both nations from launching that first strike. So while Glenn would prefer it if we could avoid anger, hatred and violence, he has acknowledged that we should nonetheless be ready for it when it shows up on our doorsteps and we are forced to defend what we believe and those we love.

I say don’t fire unless fired upon….If they start rioting outside my house, I have some 12 gague shells full of rock salt that will settle that in a hurry! lol. I know for a fact Glen ain’t saying not to defend yourself, I think he’s just saying not to start anything, or willingly be a part of any violent protests.

Whatever! I’ve got 2 little girls, and I was wondering where the parents were. I do not let my kids get away from me, especially in a big place like the mall, for any reason. My six year old still rides strapped in the double stroller, so I can keep her out of trouble and away from psychos. This child was obviously allowed to wander off for several minutes. I can‘t imagine figuring out how to get inside that machine wasn’t preventable if her mom or dad was watching.

Every once in a while we need a story that lightens up life. It’s good that she got out ok. I don’t think this should now become an issue where they ban all of these machines (I’m sure this will be on the next “ban” wagon) because one parent decided to not take responsibility for their child. A 2 year old should ALWAYS be in the eye sites of the parents. Really, if she was able to get into this machine, it is entirely possible that she could have been kidnapped instead. What I don’t understand is why they had to pry her out when she could have left the same way she came in.
