Toddler’s Pot-Smoking Video Leads to Parents’ Arrest

KTLA reports:
Hesperia couple has been arrested after investigators say they videotaped their 23-month-old son smoking marijuana.
A tipster led San Bernardino County sheriff’s officials to the home of 20-year-old Melanie Soliz and 24-year-old Blake Hightower on Saturday, according to deputy Lisa Guerra.
The tipster said the couple allowed their toddler to smoke pot and provided video that confirmed the allegations, the Victorville Daily Press is reporting.
The video shows the toddler smoking from a marijuana pipe about three times, Guerra said, adding that the pipe had marijuana residue in it.
According to KABC, the the sheriff’s department is not releasing the video. The department also says the parents both have medical-marijuana cards. Because of that, they won’t face drug charges. Instead, they were charged with child cruelty and are expected to be arraigned Wednesday afternoon.
“In this day and age, more and more we hear about situations like this, and it’s just hard to really understand,” Roxanne Walker, a spokesperson for the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department, told KABC.
A similar case in Ohio last year grabbed headlines after a mother was shown encouraging her toddler to smoke a joint.

Talk about stupid. Any couple charged with any kind of child endangerment should have the children taken off of them for good.

I don’t have anything against using marijuana, as I use it for my post traumatic stress and for ADHD. It helps, but to exploit a child/toddler/baby to this is just down right disgusting.
BTW @Ron STaiger, not everyone who uses marijuana is a liberal/progressive who sits on welfare. I for one have a job, provide for my family, and don‘t ask for anything I can’t get on my own. Marijuana does not lead to welfare/rehab/or votes for liberals.

@ Brandon. I agree that not everyone who uses marijuana is a liberal/progressive. I have used it for many years in moderation. I don’t drink or do other drugs. I own a business, raised a family, and am an “upstanding” member of my community. And I definitely am NOT a lib or progressive!

Report Post »The THC in the marijuana would open up my airways and improve my breathing. I also wouldn’t smoke it, I would chew it because breathing in smoke would be pretty counterproductive. I would never use pot, however, because I have inhalers prescribed to me by my doctor, I don’t self medicate. My point was that a person need not be in a wheelchair or on oxygen to be called sick.

…and do advocate the decriminalization of marijuana (law similar to thoes regulateing the sale & consumption of a real uber-dangerious ~liquid drug~ “beer wine & liquor” ought be enacted …your favorite drinkie-poo is far far far more dangerious than weed & more people die from boozen-it in any 20 days than die from smokin pot in a year’s ~FACT!~)
Like beer wine or liquor ,marijuana effect individuals differantly & personal restraint need be applied …some simply shoul not drink & the same applys to smoking pot ,the one differance is there is one in a bahhzillion that get addicted to smoking marijuana (and they are generally just weak minded simpletons, NOT actually addicted) , adiction to beer wine or liquor is a considerably high percentage.(another FACT)
I do not in any way shape or form condone or find humor in kids/children being prompted by knuckelheads to smoke marijuana …too many good people wish they had a child to care for & protect from the perils in life …
